...I've been reluctant to write about this CD, since I generally can't string together two words about it. However, it is hands down my favourite Duke Ellington CD, so I thought I'd share my thoughts with you all! 'Such Sweet Thunder' is dedicated to the Stratford, Ontario Shakespearean Festival, and all the pieces are based on Shakepeare characters or sonnets. Advantages: It's Duke, so it's got attitude, guns and aliens to destroy, plus fantastic gameplay.
Disadvantages: None really. I would hav liked to have seen more digitised speech, but they obviously couldn't fit too much into the cart.

...Now I am an oldschool gamer. I played the original games, commander keen, hocus pocus and yes, Duke Nukem 1 and 2. Of all the sidescrollers, Duke was my favorite. He had attitude, he had style, and he had really nice big guns. Duke Nukem 1 and 2, which came before Duke Nukem 3d, were fantastic, interactive Sidescrollers much in the same vein as Mario. Duke went through 2D levels blowing up small reactors, collecting coke cans for health, blowing baddies to little bitty bits. Now, it has come to the gameboy colour. Not either of the 2 games, but one in the same style, but much better; A colourful, realistic platformer/shooter with humor and attitude. Advantages: A Doom clone...
Disadvantages: ...but not a very good one

...Duke Nukem is a Doom clone, i.e. it's a shoot 'em up played from a first person perspective. While Doom was hailed as revolutionary (despite being based on the game Wolfenstein 3D), Duke Nukem offers little over Doom (or any number of the other clones, for that matter). Doom was ground-breaking. It brought the first person perspective to millions of gamers. Doom did what it did very well. Duke Nukem does what it does equally well. It just doesn't do anything radically different and it doesn't have the atmosphere that Doom had. I remember playing Doom and jumping out of my seat when I walked round a corner to be confronted by some nasty or other. Advantages: Duchess is one of the best Genesis tracks.
Disadvantages: Some nasty synth-pop and bland tracks

...The three remaining members of Genesis hit the 1980s by starting to write synth-pop songs. Their prog-rock roots hadn't entirely disappeared though. leaving some of the material on this album neither pop nor prog and suffering as a result. Initially they created a suite of songs about "Duke", and then split up the suite and added other tracks, keeping the title for the entire album. Opening with a joyful fanfare, "Behind The Lines" sounds like it is going to be another good Genesis instrumental, however after a couple of minutes it decends into a rather mundane song with only an occasional glimpse of how it started. Luckily the Genesis magic hasn't completely gone just yet as "Duchess" is a glorious track. I love those drum machine sounds and swirling synths. ...Duke Nukem 3D was one of the first games to take the first person shoot em up by the scruff of the neck and inject some balls into it, the game even includes a strip joint with live dancing girls. Graphically this game now looks dated with no sign of the 3dfx wonders we now take for granted, the newer graphic engines used in Quake and Unreal provide a smoother ride. However Duke Nukem 3D still supplies a whole lot of fun and still provides me with hours of enjoyment, roll on Duke Nukem Forever.... Read review

...Duke Nukem 3D is a follow up of the classic, it has three level types which all take long to complete and are all completely different, aswell as this, for the PC, there is a lock if you don’t want your kids to see the full extent of blood and guts. The guns are also something to be admired, and the levels are all different. There is an age limit on this game, but the graphics are excellent and the sound effects are great. This game is a lot like doom, but personally I think it is superior, if you liked doom you’ll love duke nukem.... Read review

...The time to kill is here. Grap those guns, bombs or whatever you can and nuke those pigs. Time to kill is a pleasure and a survival course, you must nuke or be nuked its as simple as that. Available for almost any format (computer) not just the playstation duke nukem is a game to have fun with, its not serious and certainly different from other gun games of its nature. Is it one to be bought? Well as ive read other peoples opinions I would like to say yes and agree with them, true its a good game that can be very enjoyable but in my opinion its not a game thats worth it or worth more than £5 anyways. You locate weapons from things like shotguns to things that are quite out of this world.
