Advantages: The best of both worlds, intrigue and combat
Disadvantages: This is not an action film. Some that expect this will be dissapointed.

...Rome is a lavish production on a scale arguably not seen since the days of pre-CGI. Tremendous effort has been made to ensure authenticity in period costume and architectural design all the way down to graffiti on the walls! The 12 hourly episodes that comprise the first series revolve around Julius Ceasar's crossing of the rubicon, defeat of Pompey and subsequent rise to absolute power. All these events happen within a maelstrom of ruthless political manoevering, not only within the senate but also between the women that sit in the shadows behind the overt powers. Although there is not a weak performance from any of the regular cast, Polly Walker in particular deserves mention for her portrayal of Atia of the Julii. ...to commemorate his fathers death. This means that Maximus returns to Rome to fight in the games. The senate is now plotting against Commodus and Maximus sees this as his chance for revenge. An outstanding film in the true meaning of the word 'epic', everything from the Colosseum to the city of Rome is breathtakingly recreated. Disadvantages: i have never been to rome

...that i was parked next to the vatigan in rome i tryed everything to reset the unit and get it to the right country to no avail. i took the unit back to the shop where they replaced it with a brand new one this worked great for about 2 months while driving thru camden the unit lost signal and when it found signal again, we were back at the vatigan in rome i have no got a third unit which has also told me i am driving in rome so this is a great unit to have in rome but a bit usless anywhere else in the world after about 2 months this is a good satnav when it knows where it is, just keep your recipt and an A to Z... Advantages: Combo drive
Disadvantages: slighly slow CD burn rate compared to others

...I got this drive to eliminate the need for having separate DVD and CDRW drives when I was building a PC for someone. The drive is IDE and lives quite happily on your secondary channel as a master - this is the recommended option to eliminate CD writing failures and DVD playback artifacts. The drive comes complete with CD burning software in the shape of Nero Burning ROM V4, as opposed to the usual suspects of Adaptec Easy CD Creator or CeQuadrat Win On CD. This does not mean that the software is not up to par - far from it! NBR4 can do everything the competition can and more, such as overburning media and bootable CDs. The main reason for this is the DVD read capability. Although the 4x read is somehat behind what most dedicated DVD drives offer nowadays, in reality you only need 1x DVD read to view a movie. ...Sparticus to every one who has seen it is a classic film as it was made in 1960 and is still known now. The film is about a man called Sparticus who rebels against Rome and takes with him a crowd of people. The film starts with Sparticus being a slave before he goes to gladiator school but he and the rest of them soon break out and start an army against Rome. Sparticus then starts an army and he with a couple of his friends along side him convince people to join them. They train all of their army and they produce a fighting class army. ...The imperial palace is the best building in the world , it is so big and menacing . Rome is a very picturesque city with beautiful venues and people!!!!!! The best way to travel around Rome is on moped , it gives u a better view and feel of the city. The vatican is absoulutely amazing , how can one man michaelangelo do such good artwork in one lifetime a true great . Rome is also an exceptional place to shop, the amount of quality shops like diesel , gucci are just amazing. All of the people are very friendly and very organised . The best place to eat in Rome value for money is probably spizzico or Damiano's pizza place absoulutely fantastic. ROME A MUST FOR ALL PEOPLE... Read review

...Gladiator is a film set in Roman times and it is a story of a heroic soldier who fights for Rome and the two most important things to him are Rome and his family. The film starts with a battle as Maximus the main star is about to lead the Romans into battle against the Vikings. He gives his side a loyal speech. He has a great friendship with the Empoeror and honours him and would never be disloyal to him. Once the battle won evryone is hailing Maximus for his good leading skills and success. Next the Emporers son turns up and claims he didn't know when the battle had started. This immediately shows he is a coward and all that is important to him is one day ruling Rome but he will have some troubles to overcome first. Advantages: Good historical fiction with showing the fall of the roman republic
Disadvantages: Extras are a little disapointing aswell as the lack of military spectacle

..."Rome" is a fictional tale about the rise of Julius Caesar starting in 52BC with the fall of the king of the Gaul's and ending with his death at the hands of the senators 8 years later. The series has a number of in linked story lines showing the wide range within roman society. One of the central storylines of the series follows the comradeship and friendship of two solders; Lucius Voranus and Titus Pullo. The two men often disagree and however the brotherhood between the two men is very well portrayed. The two soldiers bring a human side to the series. What brings Rome to life is that all the characters have a human element to them each with there own weaknesses from Caesars crippling illness to the hidden secret of Lucius wife Niobe. Advantages: Excellent camera work and Direction. Rip roaring stuff!
Disadvantages: Maybe a little innaccurate.

...It had to happen! The return of the Roman epic! Excellent story, even if it does re-write the complete reign of Commodus, and knock aboput 12 years off it. Great fight scenes, iof you take into accout a load of 'Directorial Discretion' during the intiial battle scene. Looked at closely, the actual story is remarkably similar to that of Spartacus, one man against the Empire, builds up huge power though and uses it to try, or in the case of Gladiator to actually change the might of Rome for the better. Not close enough to be plagiarism, but there are enough similarities to make the comparison valid. What is the real strength of the film? Incredible special effects. From the dark forests of the Rhine borders to the majesty that was Rome itself, you can almost believe they actaully shot it on location. Like I said, they've taken a few... Read review
