Gardens of Eden
Review of Eden Project, Cornwall by
helencbradshaw
Advantages: Educational and individual effect on the masses
Disadvantages: Very expensive, perhaps too touristy so the message is lost.
...offered a loan to the Trust, which was only to be repaid if it was successful, again a leap of faith and a faith in the vision for them.
Obviously being Waste Neutral is an important belief, and a difficult one to achieve in a tourist attraction of this size. Visitors are encouraged to take special care of their waste and use the appropriate bins which are all over the park. During construction, the weather was a challenge with 100 days of rain and the rainwater on site is collected and used where needed including flushing visitor toilets.
Getting There
-----------------
Eden is situated between the A390 and A391 close to the St Austell area of Cornwall, and is easily accessible by car, where there are clear road markings. However, walkers and cyclists get a discount of £3 on admission and they also get to join a priority queue...

Garden of Eden
Review of Eden Project, Cornwall by
wulise
Advantages: An experience that changes daily!
Disadvantages: Need to visit the Project more than once!
...)).
** What else is at the Eden Project**
Cafes and restaurants are copious, as are picnic areas.
Car parking is plentiful and free, with shuttle services available to various car parks and from the ‘Roofless Biome’ to the Visitors centre.
Wheel Chair loan for the disabled or infirm.
Shop and Plant sale.
Guided tours but this is pricey!
There will be themed events.
Various displays and concerts.
Having seen new reports about the Eden Project I was a little unsure what I was going to find. I was pleasantly surprised. The 50 metre deep craters from the disused pits have become home to thousands of exotic yet very important plants. There are three major climates explored at the Eden Project. The Cornish Climate (outside) the Warm Temperate regions (California, the Mediterranean and South Africa) and then finally the Humidity...

The Garden of Eden in Cornwall
Review of Eden Project, Cornwall by
lynseyward
Advantages: Faciniating, educational and great attraction for rainy day
Disadvantages: Some children may get bored easily
...The first time I went to the Eden project I wasn't sure what to expect - there had been a lot of hype about it and wasn't sure if it would live up to my expectations.
When we arrived there we looked for car parking space, there are plenty of car parks but some of them are quite a walk to the main site itself, however there are shuttle busses you can catch.
As we paid and entered we first walked through the outdoor Biome which to me was just normal plants - but apparently some of them are quite exotic. After that we headed for the main Biomes which are the Humid Tropics and Warm temperate biome.
As soon as I walked into the Humid tropics biome I was impressed, it was just like being in a rainforest so much greenery and amazing colourful fauna. And the temperature made me feel like I was abroad. There is even a lovely water fall...

Eden - family although not super anymore
Review of Eden Apartments, Grand Canary by
cass30
Advantages: location, facilties for children
Disadvantages: tired looking apartments
...Firstly I would like to start by saying the island is Gran Canaria. Not Gran Canary but hey!
I stayed at the Eden from August 29th 2008 for 7 nights. This hotel used to be part of Thomson Super Family group, however this year it is still a thomson hotel but no longer part of the superfamily group. Im not sure why.
The Eden is situated at the very top of Puerto Rico looking down towards Amadores beach and around the back from the Europa centre. Having been to GC a number orf times we hired a car from the airport and made the now much quicker thanks to the extended motorway ride into PR.
There is no parking at the Eden so the car was left somewhere along the very narrow road where the entrance to the Eden is.
First impressions were good. Large reception area, with mini-mart just outside - prices were reasonable and stocked pretty much...

More Expensive than The Garden of Eden...
Review of Eden Project, Cornwall by
CaptainDisaster
Advantages: It's pretty impressive, especially if you're interested in botany of course, good facilities
Disadvantages: Rather over-priced at the moment, not as spectacular as you're lead to believe
....
There are also year-long and lifetime passes available, but obviously they will only be of interest to people who live fairly locally and have a keen interest in botany, and in the project in particular. The "passport" to give you a year's free access to the site is only £5, so effectively you will only pay £17 (with your first admission and the passport) to go anytime for a whole year. This seems good value but many people will only go once, and for them I think the admission is rather over-priced..
Busiest Days
According to their official literature, the busiest days for the Eden Project are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, particularly on damp mornings! On these days the queue can tail back onto the main road. Having driven along the road that takes you from the main road to the car park, I can tell you that will take you a very long time to get...

Eden Better Than I Thought It Would Be
Review of Eden Project, Cornwall by
Dizz
Advantages: Very Interesting, spectacular scenery
Disadvantages: Can be tiring and refreshments very expensive
...forget).
When we got there, it was a very busy; hot, day and we had to park quite a way from the exhibition itself. There are plenty of courtesy buses to take passengers from car parks to the exhibition and they were pretty frequent and well organised. Car parks were clearly marked so there was little chance of forgetting where you left the car!!
On departing the courtesy bus, you find yourself at top of a "valley" looking down onto these huge plastic domes beneath. And, boy, do they look fantastic!! Like something out of a sci-fi movie - really amazing and absolutely HUGE!!
From there it is a short walk downhill to the main entrance, where there are plenty of toilets, an Eden Shop; selling all manner of plants and gifts; and, course, the Visitor Centre where you buy your entrance tickets. I thought these were a little steep at £9...

Eden goes Cornish
Review of Eden Project, Cornwall by
Acornseed
Advantages: All day attraction
Disadvantages: tiring to navigate
...I’ve heard the Eden Project described as both ‘an incredible feat of human ingenuity’ and ‘a nice greenhouse’. Since my visit in October 2004 I can see both sides. At £12 per adult to get in you expect something of good quality, which it is. When you first set eyes on the biomes from the car park it is impressive and looks slightly odd nestled in the old quarry like something from the film, ‘Logan’s Run’. I’d heard that the first hurdle is getting in since the queues are notoriously long, but we had no trouble on a Wednesday morning. The entrance, flanked by a restaurant and a café were spacious, clean and inviting with the food and drink all reasonably priced. I would not recommend buying a guide book. Costing £4 it contains only the same information as you see on the boards walking around and we found we didn’t need to refer...

My walk in the park
Review of St. James´s Park (London) by
petitesquirt
Advantages: Peaceful and relaxing
Disadvantages: -
...One of the few things I enjoy while in London is relaxing in St. James park. This is one of the few places where I find relaxing in the midst of a fast-paced, noisy yet exciting city. To me, St. James is the Eden of peace, amidst the chaos and frustration that accompanies city life.
It is right in front of Buckingham Palace, or should that be round the back of the palace? I have always been under the impression that St. James is towards the back of the palace but because that part of the palace is always the favourite, it has now become the default front!?
Anyway, its is not very big and can get quite crowded during the summers. It is rectangular in shape, with a lake in the middle surrounded by luxurious trees and shrubs. Its is a sanctuary to birdlife as well as the mischievous squirrels I've seen scrambling around.
What...

This is Eden, but an overcast one
Review of Cacharel Eden Eau De Parfum Spray for Her by
lillamarta
Advantages: On its good days it doesn't smell of burnt rubber
Disadvantages: On its bad days it smells of burnt rubber
...Launch date: 1994
Group: Floral (fruity, aromatic, woody oriental...)
Introduction
I'm an avid collector of unusual, rare fragrances and a few months ago having read some favourable reviews of Eden online,
I blind-purchased a small bottle on Ebay to add to my collection thinking I might have missed out on something all those years ago. I sampled and wore the fragrance for a few days and this review is my attempt to give a balanced account of this love-it-or-hate it fragrance.
The blast from the past
I've always been a LouLou girl I wearing it devotedly in my teens for six years and was my signature scent so much so that my then boyfriend called me LouLou. By the time Eden was launched in 1994, I was already at university and my teenage outrageous eigthies and my Cacharel era was over and done with...

By Bus:
There are dedicated Eden buses from St Austell, Newquay, Helston, Falmouth and Truro which offer discounted combined tickets. Contact Truronian on 01872 273453 or First on 0870 6082608 for more details.
By Car:
The Eden Project is accessible from the A30 and the A38. If you are coming from outside of Cornwall you need to take the M5 southbound towards Exeter. The motorway will end and merges into the A30. If you follow this road it will bring you to the Innis Downs roundabout and then you can follow the brown signs to Eden.
There is a massive car park at Eden with all the different sections being named after fruit to help you remember where you parked. The closest car park is Apple 2 and is really right by the doors but this is reserved...
