Embassy Suites
Review of Embassy Suites Hotel San Diego-La Jolla, San Diego by
danielalong
Advantages: Good service, and amenities
Disadvantages: A long way from anything
...Embassy Suites
On a recent visit to California, I was booked into this hotel because it was close to places I had to visit for work.
The hotel itself is only a short drive from the airport (it took about half an hour in a hire car, and not knowing where I was going) and is located in La Jolla which is apparently quite an affluent area, featuring banks and houses and hotels as well as restaurants and a rather nice shopping mall.
It's easy to drive into the hotel and should you ask for it there is valet parking in the high rise car park, but I just parked round the back of the hotel.
Once inside the hotel, check in was quick and efficient and I was immediately impressed with the well set out entrance lobby featuring some nice little touches such as plentiful flowers. The reception desk is large and well staffed and also...

Suite Dreams!
Review of Embassy Suites Hotel, San Francisco Airport by
helencbradshaw
Advantages: Complimentary parking and breakfast, best price guarantee via web
Disadvantages: Drinks a little expensive.
...Finding myself with a mid morning flight departure of 10am from San Francisco Airport meant I had to find accommodation close to the airport for our final night. Like most people, I don't particularly relish spending a night in an Airport hotel, as it seems to be far more a functional expenditure than it adding anything to the holiday. However as there was no avoiding it, we booked the Embassy Suites, San Francisco Airport, South San Francisco and decided we would arrive reasonably late in the evening so we could enjoy the final day touring through the wine country.
I booked online via the company's own website. Both my husband and I are familiar with the Embassy Suites brand, having both used them for business trips (separately) to the USA in the past. For those who do not know, however, Embassy Suites is part of the Hilton chain. I...

B&B perks at a big chain hotel in Phoenix
Review of Embassy Suites Hotel North, Phoenix by
ajfoster
Advantages: Excellent hotel for small-scale conventions; spacious; love the full-scale breakfast, happy hour, fridge and microwave
Disadvantages: No ghosts, a corporate hotel
...All right, I confess. I go to science fiction conventions. If I was going to Phoenix just to sightsee, I would have chosen a haunted hotel like the Hotel San Carlos, but I was invited to Leprecon 29 and it was held at the Embassy Suites--Phoenix North location. Generally, it's harder for me to warm up to corporate hotels. They usually give courteous service, yet it is impersonal. The staff frequently lacks the pride of ownership an independently-run establishment does. Although the Phoenix North location is a big chain hotel with cookie-cutter decorated rooms, its amenities and perks make it stand out refreshingly different from others. Anyone who expects to actually spend much time in a hotel he's staying at should have little problem relaxing in this one.
One of the things I notice about hotels in Phoenix, Arizona...

The Best Place to stay in New York
Review of Embassy Suites Hotel New York City, New York City by
C.Laslett
Advantages: Value for money, quality of accommodation, breakfast included, location
Disadvantages: NONE
...I stayed here just before Christmas 2005 and was overwhelmed by how wonderful this hotel is. It is excellent value for money (especially considering that you are getting bed and breakfast and not just the room). The facilities are fab and I loved the location - our room overlooked the Hudson River and the view was fab!
The hotel staff are wonderful and really go out of their way to help. On arrival, I asked if it would be possible to have a room with a view of the river and they found us a great room on the top floor with an AMAZING view. We paid no more than a standard room so it's worth asking for. Likewise, we asked if we could have a fridge in place of the provided minibar (to store juice and snacks etc). The guy was up with the fridge in under 5 minutes - wonderful.
The rooms themselves are actually suites - a bedroom...

Embassy Suites - South Lake Tahoe, California, USA
Review of Lake Tahoe (California) by
sands
Advantages: Very scenic, very quiet slopes even at the weekends, able to ski off piste.
Disadvantages: Ski pass was as much as $50 per day each. 4 hrs drive from San Francisco and final hour is up in the mountains and scary in the dark and in a snow storm and fear of avalanche.
...We travelled to South Lake Tahoe for a skiing trip in March 2000. Embassy Suites, a bit pricey but worth every penny. Wonderful accommodation, staff very helpful, apre ski absolutely free from 4.30pm to 6.30pm. Very big suite with separate lounge with television and microwave, bathroom big and dressing gowns supplied. Breakfast is served in the centre of the hotel and seen by all guests upon exit from their rooms on the ground level amongst the living large foliage. Breakfast was very varied but be careful not to pig out too much as skiing can be hard in the morning on a full stomach. Evening Restaurant in the hotel not very exiting but locally there are some great bars but beware, no smoking in any of the Californian bars. Dont worry Embassy Suites on the Nevada/Californian stateline so can smoke in the Nevada bars, restaurants...

Suites for my sweet, Dublin for my honey
Review of Clarion Stephens Hall Hotel and Suites, Dublin by
T21AMY
Advantages: Spacious, friendly, within walking distance of town
Disadvantages: Expensive, no facilities
...Having birthdays within 4 days of each other, Les and I decided a couple of years ago that we would stop exchanging gifts and instead, put the money we would have spent towards a weekend away together. Last year it was New York, this year it was Dublin.
We booked the trip at the beginning of January on the internet via Expedia; we didn't have any hotels recommended to us so decided on the Clarion Stephens Hall Hotel as they were offering a deal on their suites - it was my birthday after all !!
~~ Getting There ~~
Once we arrived at Dublin airport, we caught the 'AirCoach' to the hotel. This is a 'luxury' coach service that drops off at 15 key points around Dublin Centre, including right outside the Clarion hotel ! The coach was very comfortable, boasting large, leather seats and plenty of storage space. The 'ticket...

Astarte suites in Santorini island
Review of Astarte Suites Hotel by
AnnaT33
Advantages: Views, suite, infinity pool, privacy
Disadvantages: nothing
...Akrotiri village. Akrotiri village is located to one of the cornerstones of Santorini, which is about 15min. from Fira by car, and near to more of the island's beaches.
Ok, I selected the area so now I had to decide among 30 hotels. The bad thing was that most of them were hardly 4 star hotels.
Then when I believed that I had run out of luck, I received the F.T. newspaper. You are now all asking how did receiving a newspaper helped? The answer is simple. While I was reading the newspaper I saw an article regarding Santorini island. The journalist recommended a family running hotel near Akrotiri village! The name of that hotel was Astarte suites.
So I google on Internet found the site and it was just perfect for my honeymoon.
I booked the tickets and the Junior suite with private jacuzzi for a 7night stay.
The view from the window...

Sweet life at Royal Palm Suite!
Review of Royal Palm Suite Hotel, Maraval by
ttspud
Advantages: Close to shopping centre/ city centre
Disadvantages: Shops close early, rooms slightly pricey
...One one of my many visits to beautiful Trinidad, I decided to try the Royal Palm Suite Hotel in Maraval. Having stayed in quite a few hotels and having heard positive reviews from family members, I decided to give it a shot and hopefully have an enjoyable stay. The hotel is mid sized with 70 or so rooms or suites, and is a family run local hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly and always had a smile or a kind word.
*LOCATION*
The hotel is a 20 minute drive from the Piarco International airport and taxis are readily availabe at the airport at a cost of around £15 (guests can make prior arrangements to be met at the airport by the hotel's in-house taxi service as well). Maraval is a fairly affluent area in the city with some very beautifu, large and expensive houses nearby. Nestled between the Maraval hills, the hotel...

Great hotel if you can tolerate the smoke.
Review of Capital Hill Hotel & Suites, Ottawa by
davekaren
Advantages: Location, size of rooms.
Disadvantages: Smokiness
...8 of us stayed at the Capital Hill Hotel+Suites in Sept 2006.
If location is what you want, then this is a winner-the hotel is as centrally located as you are going to get, plus the bus from the Train Station stops outside. A few minutes walk south down elgin street is the popular bars/pubs area popular with the Ottawa University students. To the other side of the hotel was the historical/government buildings, and sightseeing tours. The main eating+drinking area (Murray St and around) was about 4-5mins
The outside of the hotel is a little shabby apart from the entrance area, but the reception area is very nicely presented and welcoming. Theres a small shop in the entrance which sells souveniers and selected food items (good for breakfast if you dont want to eat the hotels breakfast). Theres also a comedy club in the basement...

Ne me quittez pas
Review of Disneyland Hotel, Paris by
mrpaella
Advantages: Excellent location and decor
Disadvantages: Too expensive, inedible breakfast, poor design, a tourist trap
...the documents did arrive they simply comprised of 2 plane tickets, a hotel voucher, 5 shuttle-bus tickets and an invoice. There were no luggage tags, details of departure i.e. which Heathrow terminal to depart from, guide books, how to get to Disneyland from Charles de Gaulle Airport etc.
The cost of the return tickets to Paris were GBP 226 each. But the BA website was selling them at GBP 75 each.
GETTING THE VISA
My wife needed a French visa as she held an Indian passport. I mentioned in my Prague op that it took 3 visits to the Czech Embassy before the visa was given. I expected something similar with the French Embassy and therefore took no money with me.
The travel agency in Brough sent a faxed copy of the visa form. This form was quite easy to fill in. A few documents were also needed e.g. bank statement, holiday invoice, passports...
