Review of Rugby World Cup - Official Review 2003 - England DVD by
benjamin.lee
Advantages: piece of history
Disadvantages: price
...I think that this an excellent way to sum up the English win at the 2003 rugby world cup.
This DVD is a must have for all of those English rugby fans out there who want to treasure a little part of history on DVD.
Throughout this DVD there is tension and suspense time and time again after already seeing it several times. The quality of the DVD is excellent and truly remarkable. The sound quality is tremendous on both accounts of the crowd and the commentators. The DVD has only the best parts of the game, which in some ways is a lost because it would have been nice to have the whole match on DVD as well as the highlights throughout the game. The action replays and camera angles of the tackles and tries in this DVD are some of the best that I have ever seen.
If you are wanting to keep a part of history about England's first...

A must-watch for England fans
Review of Inside England Rugby - Sweet Chariot 2 DVD by
aznben1
Advantages: Very interesting look behind the scenes; the training scenes
Disadvantages: Wished it would go on for longer
...Quick Background
I didn't know this DVD existed until seeing a review in an edition of the Rugby World magazine, which (if memory serves me right) rated the DVD highly. Upon viewing the DVD myself, I totally see why.
It features a genuine behind-the-scenes look at the England rugby team in the months leading up to the 2007 Rugby World Cup. The DVD showcases some interesting footage of the team's match preparation, training sessions, pre- and post-match drama, as well as some brilliantly-shot in-game highlights.
The disc offers the viewer an inside look at the dynamics of the England team, and allows the viewer to familiarize with the different characters of the team, in particular David Strettle which the producers dedicated a section of the DVD to.
Pros
* The DVD does a good job in documenting the team...

rugby world cup review 2003
Review of Rugby World Cup - Official Review 2003 - England DVD by
taffy19
Advantages: see a nothern hemisphere finally win the world cup
Disadvantages: price
...the first thing i would say is for all you england rugby fans this is the dvd for you.... i will let you relive that magical in sydney almost four years ago that you finally captured that allusive William Webb Ellis and stamped your authority on international rubgy. however by the fact i am welsh so there was, and still is that terrible sense of envy on what was achieved. you also get the added satisfaction of seeing the aussies getting beaten in there own back yard! horay!
CONTENT
i believe that this dvd shows you well proporioned highlights of all of the games throughout the group stages, then as the tournment progresses there are extended highilghts. there is also a voice over which is welcome bouns as it informs you of all the events and news before each of the fixtures.
FEATURES
there are various camera angle replays...

World Championship Rugby
Review of World Championship Rugby (PS2) by
jam_2004
Advantages: The finest rugby simulation on PS2
Disadvantages: The scrums, rucks and mauls are awfully frustrating
...World Championship Rugby is developed by Swordfish Studios who are famous for the great PSone rugby title Jonah Lomu Rugby. With EA's Rugby 2004 boasting the official players and grounds can WCR be as good or even better?
World Championship Rugby is split into two main modes they are Competition Modes and Challenge Modes here is a description of the Tournaments available in the game.
Competition Modes:
World Championship: This is the World Cup which is contested in groups of 5 with the top 2 teams progressing.
Euro Nations: The Six Nations and you can play as Scotland, Ireland, England, Wales, France or Italy. These teams play each other once.
Three Nations: The Tri Nations with New Zealand, Australia and South Africa these teams play each other once.
Tour: You can choose a team and tour a continent of your choice...

EA Sports Bringing Rugby To The PS2
Review of Rugby 2001 (PS2) by
Andy.mack
Advantages: Good Graphics, Training option is very good, as is the multiplayer
Disadvantages: Game play isnt as good as it could have been. Some computer teams are far too hard to play.
...of the game is similar to Lomu rugby in that it focuses on the International side of the game. All the big nations are there and as well as some of the smaller Rugby playing nations. The game includes 20 teams from the Rugby world and over 600 players. The game does have your big guns like England, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia but also some of your smaller nations such as Canada.
Whether you want to take your team to glory in the World Cup or perhaps lead England to success in the Six Nations, this game features it all. As well as the two competitions listed above you can also try your hand at the Tri Nations or if you’d rather, just have a friendly match against a nation of your choice. However I find the best feature of the game to be the training simulator, which helps you to perfect the game before you start upping the difficulty...

Rugby World Cup 2003 - Greatest moments
Review of Rugby World Cup - Greatest Moments - 2003 DVD by
dan1990
Advantages: Some great action for rugby fans, Extras are very good
Disadvantages: A Little rushed, Too much time spent on opening ceremony
...from that memorable game between Austrailia and England at the Telstra stadium. The game is not shown in great detail, as the company making this DVD also released one with the entire final on.
The fans - A montage about the great support that was shown for all the teams.
The memories - A look back at what will be remembered from the tournament.
Theses chapters are fast paced, and so you get to see as much rugby action as possible in the short space of time. This keeps the DVD interesting and exciting, as no single try or tackle is shown for long periods of time. However, this means that the highlights can often look like just montages, which some people do not like. This is the main reason why this DVD has recieved some bad reviews elsewhere.
The other main problem with this DVD is that too much time is spent on looking...

Rugby like its never been played before!!
Review of Rugby 2004 (PS2) by
Deano2807
Advantages: Very entertaining with a great choice of gameplays.
Disadvantages: Huge selection of controls to understand.
...I am a Pro Evolution Soccer and Fifa Football fan but have never really taken an interest to Rugby on TV let alone playing PS2 Rugby games, that is until the 2003 World Cup. I sat for days hours on end, eyes glued to the TV set watching the lads from England making us lot back home proud. Around the Mid-Stage of the World Cup, I felt that I had taken to understand a large majority of rules, including the offside rule. Seeing the release of Rugby 2004 I had thoughts and ideas running through my head, I wasn't exactly sure what it would be like to play a Rugby game, I couldn't imagen it, but I was determined to purchase it and find out. Although this game has large improvements to be made to be anywhere as good as what Pro Evolution is for football, it is still a very addictive and entertaining game. With the 2003 World Cup just gone...

It's not from Rugby. Is it brewed under licence
Review of Rugby Ale by
Newfloridian
Advantages: A bottle conditioned ale
Disadvantages: Very ordinary. It's not brewed in Rugby
...of Nuneaton. Rugby is perhaps another twenty miles away.
The corner of the world lays claim to being the centre of England. Its main historical landmark is the Battle of Bosworth Field (1485) which was where Richard III** was killed by the forces of Henry VII. There are (or at last were in my younger day!) a variety of sleepy little villages nearby – almost all with delightful countryside inns – with names such as Sheepy Parva and Sheepy Magna.
Formerly sited in Shustoke (a village on the Eastern outer fringes of Birmingham), adjacent to the Griffin pub, the Church End Microbrewery moved to Ridge Lane, a village on the edge of Atherstone, a few miles away. The new brewery has a lot more space and the use of a former social club and the brewery team are happy to show people around their premises.
Its Rugby Ale is named after both...

England's Final Fantasy
Review of Rugby World Cup 2003 by
Sally3
Advantages: England Won (advantage only if you're English!)
Disadvantages: Bitten nails, handfuls of hair on the floor
...Saturday, November 22nd 2003. The Rugby World Cup Final. Outside it was typical English-type weather; wet, windy and cold. Inside, the atmosphere was sizzling with edgy, nervous anticipation and the possibility of dreams fulfilled.
A description of the English dressing room at the Telstra Stadium in Sydney at 7.30pm local time?
Probably.
A description of my front room at 8.30am GMT?
Definitely.
This tournament had me excited because England had a real chance. My hope was that if they could become World Champions, it would encourage us “fair weather fans” to get more involved in the league games and raise the profile of the sport.
Rugby Union is not always the most flowing, attractive game to watch; unlike soccer it’s a stop-start affair, incredibly physical and at times brutal in its level of contact...

Rugby
Review of England by
real_rob_writer
Advantages: See op
Disadvantages: See op
...be given to the other team.
Union Rugby does not impose the 6 tackle rule, and encourages more rucks and mauls (which in my opinion are just an excuse for people to get physical). Both types of rugby are very much contact sports, although Union may be a little harder than League.
Each game is popular, although League may be a little more popular.
There are numerous Rugby competitions and Leagues, from the amateur Sunday games, through national leagues and cups to International Tournaments, such as the Six Nations Cup taking place between England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France and Italy.
There is also a form of non-contact Rugby called 'new image rugby'. It may have helped at school, but it really hasn't taken off on the main stage. It is used at a Junior level so that children are not injured.
Rugby ain’t bad, as long as I...
