...Time for my ultimate review of what I feel is the finest metal record of all time, 'Master of Puppets' by the masters themselves, 'Metallica'. Myself, a fan of Heavy Metal entirely because of the music from these guys. It was the 'Black' album that started it all for me in the early 90's upon hearing 'Enter Sandman' on the radio; I was pulled out of my stupid Pop childhood, and taken away into a darker musical place I liked very much. I immediately purchased a copy of the 'Black' album and upon hearing this I read more into the band learning of their thrash roots and much more diverse heavier past. So I sought after their older material beginning with 'Master of Puppet's'. Which brings me to today, where I have quite a collection of 'Metallica's' music having trawled CD fairs for the rarities and odds and sods to build that collection... Read review

...Metallica are one of the single best bands in the history of this business we call music. They were to be honest and not to put a fine a point on it musical pioneers. Metallica have a pretty unique sound which is easily recognizable. Metallica have produced in Master of Puppets and absolute classic of an album, ranking up there with their other greats, 'The black album' instantly springs to mind as a comparison. Metallica have made some excellent musical advances on this album. Not only is it an excellent musical album it is excellently written and the songs contain some subtle and concise social commentary, e.g. 'Disposable heroes'. To listen to Metallica is to get an insight into the tormented musical genius of James Hetfield. ...Rabbit in a lettuce puppet. This is one of the Christmas presents I bought my grand daughter aged nearly 2. This toy is recommended by manufacturers for a child age 3 and upwards. This is a really gorgeous glove puppet. The Rabbit is a very soft brown fur; really cute has a lovely expression on its face. It has two arms which is where your /Childs can put an individual finger 3 fingers go into the head space. The rabbit can be made to move head mouth and arms. Now the thing that is so great about this rabbit is its hiding in a lettuce about 5 soft green leaves are around the rabbit and the rabbit can be made to hide in the lettuce and then pop out. Each of the lettuce leaves has a small price of Velcro which holds it back when you are not using the puppet and if you peel back a leaf you will find a mini beast finger puppet... Read review

Incidentally, a film adaptation of The Puppet Masters was released in 1994, starring Donald Sutherland. So what did I think of this book? I found it quite absorbing, though, I admit, I liked it better the first time I read it, around twenty years ago. It appeared more frightening and plausible then, and although I still enjoyed reading it this time, I am not worried that these slug things are coming for me any time soon. In years gone by, flying saucers were in the news almost every day, and whether we believe in them or not, thoughts of beings on other worlds were certainly more in people's minds than now. ...The Age Of The Understatement is the debut album from The Last Shadow Puppets; a side project of Alex Turner of The Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kane of The Rascals...one you may well have heard of, but one you may not have!! The Age of the Understatement was released in the UK on 21 April 2008, going straight to number one in the UK Albums Chart...the hype and success surrounding it was for the most part due to Turner's role in the band. The likes of Radio 1 put the debut single straight into it's A-list, the likes of the NME waxed lyrically over their arrival...but was it worth the hype?? ...The Last Shadow Puppets is a 3 piece indie rock band fronted by Arctic Monkeys lead singer, Alex Turner. His sideline group is made up by James Ford on Drums and Miles Kane on Bass if i remember rightly. Both of these musicians met Alex Turner when Miles Kane's other band, 'The Rascals' supported the Arctic Monkeys. The album is called 'The Age of The Understatement' and consists of 12 Tracks and runs to almost 35 minutes. Fans of either band will have to be open-minded as The Last Shadow Puppets do seem to be a little more downbeat than Arctic Monkeys and more contemporary and conventional than The Rascals. The Tracks [Track 1 - The Age of The Understatement] The album screeches into an early crescendo with its title track, also a prominent yet simple bassline present early on. Disadvantages: Leave out the romance Joy and concentrate on the thriller bits!

...I read one of the Joy Fielding's other books a while ago, "See Jane Run" and whilst I found it an enjoyable thriller it was all too evident from the style of writing that it was a book written for the female market. Now before I'm accused of blatant misogyny I want to defend myself by just saying that for my tastes there was just too much emphasis on styles of hair, make-up and soft furnishing for my liking I'm afraid! So when this book, "Puppet" started with a real mind puzzler of a situation and then a very strong and forceful beginning I had high hopes for the book. Amanda Travis is a lawyer in Florida but she is a woman running from her past. Originally a resident of Toronto she had fled from the snow bound city of her birth and a marriage born out of rebellion and dissatisfaction with her home life. Always shunned by her own... ...The Puppet Show is a great book which has been written based on the children's television series Balamory. The front cover of the book is a nice bright pink colour with a picture of Archie and a robot and he name Balamory above this in nice bright coloured letters and below the picture is the name of the book in blue bubble letters. At the top of the cover there is a picture showing some of the houses in the Balamory town. The back cover of the book is also bright pink and has a square in the middle which is a slightly different pink colour and has lots of balloons at the top and a description of the story below these. The book is a paperback edition but the cover is made of very strong shiny card which does make is a bit stronger and less easy to rip. ...Do you mean to say I have not yet written a review on Cadbury chocolate finger biscuit? I have eaten and used many for cake decoration for years and years now. So let me tell you all I know about these finger biscuits, . The original chocolate fingers were made by the Burton food group which was formed in 1939, in 1986 Burton merged with Cadbury's and these fingers are marketed under their name. I really do not know when the first chocolate finger biscuit became available but, these biscuits have been available for many, many years a tea time party treat at birthday parties for must be at least half a century. I can not remember a time that there were not any available in the shops or at birthday parties I am sure they have changed a little since then I remember them as bigger.
