It's Flora-tastic
Review of Flora Original Spread by  Fruity_Tart

Advantages: Healthy, tastes great, cheap
Disadvantages: Shouldn't there be some sort of security seal?

...'t taste like lard on my morning toast. And Flora was the only margarine that I felt I could trust as it was introduced in the UK in 1964 and now sells over 3 million tubs a week. oOoOo WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE? oOoOo You've got a predominantly white plastic oblong tub which is printed on all sides, including the lift off lid. The tub itself shows a light green border along the bottom which goes all the way round the tub showing loads of feet in trainers, it also tells you that Flora were the official sponsors of the 2003 London Marathon, showing the marathon symbol of a red stick man jumping for joy (presumably because after a 26 mile run he's still breathing!). It tells you on both sides of the tub that you've brought Original Flora in curly letters with a picture of a bright yellow sun behind it. A little circle on the tub says... Read review

Flora Light - You Might As Well Give It A Try!
Review of Flora Light Spread by  micksheff

Advantages: Same Price As Original Variety
Disadvantages: Not Suitabe For Baking

...My conversion to Flora Light Margarine Spread was not a conscious one. I am not on a diet or any kind of health kick and my initial purchase was just by chance, and yet I have found myself making a repeat purchase. I had run out of Margarine a few weeks ago so I nipped down to my local convenience store only to find that the choice of spreads available consisted of either Flora Light or their own label Happyshopper budget stuff. THE PRODUCT Flora Margarine is sold in a white plastic tub and it is available in three different sizes. These are a 250g tub, 500g and 1kg tub which will cost you 55p, 90p or £1.73 respectively from the Asda, although buying mine from a local shop I paid over the odds, parting with a whopping 71p for a 250g tub. THE PACKAGING This product is easily recognisable on the shelf. It is packaged... Read review

Butter me up, Flora.
Review of Flora Light Spread by  lorrmid

Advantages: Relatively inexpensive and tasty.
Disadvantages: Not quite as good as butter.

...to this spread was the fact that Flora sponsored the London marathon this year and you are advised of this on the top of the tub - so it must be healthy, I concluded. Looking at the nutritional values there is in fact 38g of fat per 100g of spread (high but not nearly as high as fresh butter). Of this 38g of fat, however, there is 18g of polyunsaturates which are healthy and leads to a healthy heart. It is also low in saturates. A 100g of spread will also provide 357 calories (ouch!!). I did, however, remain optimistic because the fat and calorie levels are a lot lower than my previous butter. The tub itself is white plastic with a strong, resealable plastic lid. On the top you are advised in green lettering that it is Flora and above this in blue lettering you are advised that it is the light variety. Behind both these words... Read review

Spread that Flora Light
Review of Flora Light Spread by  Mortious

Advantages: Its Easy to spread, Tastes great, Not to expensive
Disadvantages: Its not Butter

...Having grown up around Flora Light and living a sheltered existence I never really understood what butter was. Whenever I was given a sandwich it had Flora spread in it. Baked potatoes with cheese always had a dollop of Flora light to add to the flavour. And this is how it was for me. When I got in to my mid teens I discovered butter. It was by accident and I was at a friends house making myself a sandwich. I looked in his fridge for Flora Light and was unable to find any. I knew there was other brands out there as I had seen adverts on the TV for Vitalite and over types of spread so I took out the butter. I prepared my bread and put a knife in the butter, It felt different compared to my usual spread it was hard for starters. I tried to scrape a layer of butter off the top of the block but with little success. Eventually I managed... Read review

Flora's Lot
Review of Flora's Lot - Katie Fforde by  AJ26

Advantages: Nice easy read
Disadvantages: Not a book with a lot of depth or any plot twists.

...The Plot Flora's Lot is the story of Flora Stanza a young single Londoner who inherits part of an auction house after the death of her uncle. Having no real ties in London she decides to pack up and move to the country to find out a little more about the business she has inherited. Problem is that all Flora knows about the antique business is what she's picked up on programmes like the Antiques Roadshow. Floras' meddling in the business does not go down well with the co-owner, Floras cousin Charles and his fiancée Annabelle. They want to buy her out and send her back to London but Flora isn't prepared to give in that easily. Flora and her cat who is about to have kittens moves into a neglected holiday cottage owned by Annabelle which is in the middle of nowhere. It's far removed from her city life with the bars and clubs, here... Read review

THE WHITE HEATHER HOTEL, KYLEAKIN, SKYE
Review of The White Heather Hotel, Kyleakin, Skye by  kismet

Advantages: Peaceful and friendly
Disadvantages: none at all

...We stayed at the White Heather Hotel in Kyleakin on the isle of Skye in September 2004. We liked it so much that we are going back again in September 2006. ***** THIS REVIEW IS NOW UPDATED DUE TO MY RECENT VISIT AS SOME CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE HOTEL SINCE 2004************************************ ISLE OF SKYE ++++++++++++ The Isle of Skye is off the coast of Scotland, about a 2 hour drive from Fort William. It can be reached by bridge or ferry. It is a beautiful place, with plenty of wildlife. I am not going to go into more detail as this review is not about Skye itself. KYLEAKIN - pronounced Ky-lark-in ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Kyleakin used to be the main point for the ferry, so when the bridge was built it changed the nature of the area a bit. There are two pubs and a hotel and several b&b's in Kyleakin... Read review

Flora few Dollars more
Review of Flora Original Spread by  Borg

Advantages: Healthy, tasty
Disadvantages: none

...In a world of uncertainly, of fears and of stresses, thank goodness for one thing that can keep us all free from harm, like garlic or a crucifix can save us from the vampire in the night. Like a silver bullet is your defence from an attack by a werewolf. I am talking, of course, about Flora. All right, it can’t actually keep us free from harm, not from say a burglar or a street mugger, or the tax man (and any other Beatles song), but it is good for your heart anyway. It is high in polly whatits, you see. Seriously, it is low in saturates and high in polyunsaturates, it is rich in vitamins and… shucks, it is sooooo darn healthy I think I will not eat anything else. Just Flora – for my breakfast, lunch and tea. And it tastes like… hmmm, how can I describe this taste? Like wondrous ambrosia... Read review

Good For Your Heart But Not For Your Waistline!
Review of Flora Buttery Spread by  micksheff

Advantages: Easy To Spread, Can Help To Reduce Cholestrol
Disadvantages: High In Fat And Calories, Quite Expensive

.... I saw Flora as a healthy alternative to most of the other brands on the market but Flora Buttery is a much more recent discovery. I have always loved the creamy taste of real Butter but find that it is often a little bit too rich and has a tendency to give me indigestion, so in my quest to find something more suitable I have recently purchased both "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" and Tesco's own brand of Buttery margarine called "Butter Me Up" both with moderate success, so when I spotted Flora's Buttery Margarine at my local Asda I decided to give it a try since Flora is a name I have come to trust. The Packaging Flora Buttery Margarine comes in a rectangular plastic tub which is predominantly white and yellow in colour with the word "Flora" written across the front of it in green letters. This word is superimposed on a pale... Read review

Is it tasteless?
Review of Flora Original Spread by  kerryzach

Advantages: see op
Disadvantages: see op

...taste free! I asked my boyfriend to offer his opinion and he couldnt add anything either. I feel a bit guilty about saying it i tasteless because I have read some other reviews and they say it is lovely! Hmmm! What to do! Oh well, it is an opinion site so they are going to clash arent they! I would buy it again, as, as I said I dont dislike it. I just like the richer taste of buttery spreads. It seems to be reasonably priced at all times so it would perhaps be an option if my regular variety was sold out. Flora products are made by Unilever Bestfoods in Crawley. Im sorry for the lack of taste opinion but I really can not say anything about it. In the Flora range you can also buy White Flora to use instead of lard or Flora Oil for deep frying. There is also the Pro-activ range to reduce cholesterol and the buttery range to add taste... Read review

Fat is all relative
Review of Diet Flora by  jlearner

Advantages: lower fat than Flora Light
Disadvantages: none I can find right now

...Well, I've finally gone on a diet, Weight Watchers to be exact, and I'm now scouring the supermarket shelves with my trusty points calculator, working out the points of practically every product to find the best way to spend my limited points. Today I was in Waitrose and noticed amongst the margarines a product called Diet Flora which I've never seen before. I don't know whether this is a new product or I've just not noticed it before because I was too busy looking at the full fat butters. PACKAGING The packaging is very much like the other Flora products around it. I bought a 500g tub which is almost all white (unlike the Light which is blue and the Original which is green) has the same basic Flora logo but above it, it says Diet in red and then the same tagline as on the Flora Light "Helping to keep your heart healthy...
