...How boring to go back to the same place again, but nonetheless, having spent two summer holidays based in Fort Lauderdale, I feel (slightly) qualified to assist you in choosing this as your next holiday destination. We flew to Miami from Heathrow with British Airways for just under £300 (end of April 2001). Last year we struggled with the Tri-rail commuter train to get us to Fort Lauderdale (only $5ish but we still needed a cab once we got there). This year we took the Super Shuttle (minibus-taxi hybrid) at $31 per person. My other half was attending a conference, so I had plenty of time to get myself aquainted with Sawgrass Mills (huge discount shopping mall on the outskirts of town) and The Galleria (smaller regular priced mall in the centre, close to the main beach area). ...Fort Victoria is one of those places that makes a great day out. It is, like most of the places I've been reviewing lately, on the Isle of Wight, and I have visited several times over the years. The most recent visit was 2005, however I think I can remember enough to be able to write this review! **About Fort Victoria & Location** Fort Victoria Country Park, to give it its proper name, is located on the western side of the Isle of Wight, in Yarmouth. It's located right at the point where the Island is closest to the mainland, and if you stand out near the sea at the back of Fort Victoria, you can look across the Solent to Hurst Castle, and it looks incredibly close.
