Advantages: beautiful historic area,in the heart of Germany
Disadvantages: at times a little expensive

...Well I am living in Germany and in the Frankfurt area. Therefore I know the Frankfurt area quite well. When you see the ever growing Frankfurt airport you realized that Frankfurt is a city always on the move. Frankfurt is located in a region called the Rhein-Main Area. Surrounded by citys nearby (within 45 Minutes) called Mainz, Wiesbaden, Darmstadt and Giessen, Frankfurt is really the heart of this region. Also a one hour drive away is the beautiful and historic city of Heidelburg.Quite near is also the Taunus and the Odenwald(`mountain`areas),that are really nice to see and of course the city of Rüdesheim,famous for its Drosselgasse. Advantages: Culture, fun and party

...Frankfurt am Main I lived in Frankfurt for just over 2 years. Long enough to enable me to tell you a bit about! Mainhattan and its skyscrapers This is the unofficial name for Frankfurt in Hessen with its ca. 630.000 inhabitants. It obviously refers to Manhattan being famous for its skyscrapers. Just like Frankfurt. And the Main is one of Germanys biggest river crossing Frankfurt. That is how the name was created. Frankfurt belongs to the towns with the highest building in Europe which are all located in the area of the city centre. For example the "Messeturm" (trade fair tower) with its 259 m is the highest building in Europe. And you have a great view over the town standing on such a skyscraper when the sun goes down…. Advantages: Quality Medium Size Friendly Hotel some 20 miles from Frankfurt City centre in the vicinity of Oberursel, Hessen.
Disadvantages: Distance from Frankfurt City though S-Bahn and U-Bahn connections are within short distance.

...Have visited this Hotel on more than one occasion as a non-resident and also stayed for a few days as a resident. The Hotel is located circa 20 miles from Frankfurt City and is easily reached by autobahn and other roads from the City and also the Flughafen. There are local stations for the S-Bahn and the U-Bahn a modest walking distance from the hotel providing half hourly train service to Frankfurt, Hauptbahnof and other main City points. Travelling time varies according to destination but 25/30 minutes would be likely to the City centre and main station. The S-Bahn line S5 connects at the Main Station with lines S8 and S9 providing fast connection direct into the Airport internal station with an overall journey time of approx 40 minutes. Advantages: good museums, food and drink
Disadvantages: it's a concrete jungle

...I used to go to Frankfurt am Main all the time when I lived in Germany and it is the ugliest city I have been to. However, it does have its uses. For shopping it is good, there are several department stores around the town centre (around Hauptwache and on Zeil in particular) and plenty of expensive up-market shops can be found on Goethestrasse. It has a couple of 'original version' cinemas, where English films are shown undubbed. The main shopping street is Zeil, another good one is Leipzger Strasse, which is conveniently close to the Palmgarten, a park. The slightly more laid-back Sachsenhausen is a good place to be if you fancy some apple wine and West End is good if you fancy a stroll around quiet residential streets. ...view over Frankfurt and around you have from the Main Tower –one of the highest buildings, completely covered by blue glass. Entry is in Neue Mainzer Strasse. Take a walk at the River Main which is one of the nicest places in Frankfurt. Between bridges Untermainbrücke and Holbeinsteg the Northern riverside is called Nizza (German for the city Nice) and Mediterranian plants like palms and even an olive tree can be seen there. Right there the Jewish Museum (Jüdisches Museum) is situated which offers a good view into daily life of Jews in Frankfurt in the past time. Pass the river over pedestrian bridge Holbeinsteg and you are in front of the art museum Staedel. A good collection of old masters, impressionists and expressionists is shown there.
