Goa a must see place
Review of Goa (India) by  jaygami1986

Advantages: read opp
Disadvantages: read opp

...Well moving on from my Gujarat experience, I still have many more places in India to review, as you can see a hell of a lot in 6 odd weeks. My next destination was one that I always wanted to go to, even as a child, however only experienced it in 2005, we went to the beautiful and tranquil place that is Goa. I had always heard such great stories about Goa, the people, the landscape, the whether etc, and my family had gone many times before I was born, and hearing them bragging about their experiences only made me more determined to visit it the next chance I got. This review, will focus about my time in Goa, I spent four days there and managed to see and do a hell of a lot, ill try giving some tips about what to see and do, the culture and lifestyle, some historical background and so forth, like many of my other reviews, so ENJOY... Make Merry with Feni in Goa
Review of Goa (India) by  ananya123

Advantages: lots of beaches
Disadvantages: litter

...Goa has a special place in my memories. It is the place where I met my husband and also because this was my first expedition alone. I had heard that the new year eve is celebrated with much fun and frolic in Goa.As I had been selected as a lecturer in a college and had been saving money for something special, I decided why not take a trip to Goa.I found that people in North India are much intruding and misbehaving towards a lone female traveller. Though I didn't face such problem in Goa. Goan history: Often known as 'The Rome of the East', Goa was ruled by a great number of Indian kingdoms and dynasties from the 4th century onwards. The name 'Goa' is derived from the Konkani (The Goan Language) word 'Goyan', which means a patch of tall grass. Myth logically, Goa's origin is ascribed to Parshurama, a God of the Hindu pantheon.Goa... Read review

Got To Go To Goa
Review of Goa (India) by  daylehall

Advantages: cheap to eat, excellent weather, lovely locals
Disadvantages: some ares poverty stricken, visa costs £30

...My best friend and myself visited Goa in March this year. It was our first time here; we had a fantastic time and would certainly return there. Before we left Before we left for Goa, we were required to buy a Visa. This cost us £30. We downloaded the forms from the Internet and sent them to the Visa office in London. Our visa took about 2 weeks to arrive. The Flight The flight was 10 hours from Gatwick airport to Goa. From the airport our hotel was about an hours drive. Although we were not looking forward to the journey as we just wanted to get to our hotel the drive turned out to be excellent as we got to see various parts of Goa that we wouldn't have necessarily seen if we hadn't made the journey. The Airport The staff at the airport were very efficient. Our baggage came out within 5 minutes of us arriving which... Read review

~*GOA*~ Gorgeous Or Amazing?
Review of Goa (India) by  mightyd

Advantages: Hot, Stunning views, Lots to Do, Fun, Perfect for a tan!
Disadvantages: None

...~*GOA*~ Gorgeous Or Amazing? Goa - the land of all natural beauty. Somewhere where you can just escape to and feel like you've left the planet. A holiday which once you embark upon will be totally unforgettable. A great luxury five star experience awaits you at the rich sandy beaches looking out at the far horizon sitting above the tranquil Indian Ocean. There was so much to do and so much to experience yet only four days to do so. This is my experience… Well it was in the middle of February when we set off out to Goa, and unfortunately we had to catch a flight from Mumbai to Goa, and for those of you that know Mumbai will realise that traffic in London doesn't even compare to that of traffic in Mumbai. But an unpleasant experience it was catching a plane from Mumbai. It was a mini jet flight and probably held no more... Read review

Goan to eat in Goa
Review of Goa (India) by  WickWodderwick

Advantages: Literally something for everybody
Disadvantages: Not enough time in a holiday to eat through every menu

...If a major part of the pleasure of your holiday is eating good food, then you have arrived at the right destination. You may think that because Goa is part of India, that you will be subject to curry for breakfast, dinner, tea and supper…..WRONG! Goan people are so proud of their own Goan food delights, and although there are many curry recipes, they are nothing like your local Indian take-away. Fish constitutes a large proportion of the Goan diet. In fact whereas our main topic of greeting conversation revolves around the weather, the Goan people talk about the fish catch of the day. Believe you me, they can cook a mean Pomfret fish; boiled fried, grilled, baked, tandoori, curried ; in fact just tell the chef how you would like it prepared and Raj is your uncle. In hindsight, Raj is a poor example, because the majority... Read review

Goa november 99
Review of Goa (India) by  ianharryharrison

Advantages: Cheap, good food, scenery, people
Disadvantages: poverty, hawkers,low key nightlife

...After leaving manchester on a dark november day, I was looking forward to a few weeks away in the sun drenched state of goa. I wasn't sure what to expect of India, as this was my first trip taken outside Europe. Dabolin airport is very small and crowded, after leaving the airport, expect to be approached by many people offering to carry your luggage, this was something I hadn't expected, which left me in a difficult position, I had no indian money and only had a £5 note. This I gave to the porter, no doubt his best ever tip. First impressions of goa were hot and crowded, somewhat of a culture shock at the time. I stayed at a hotel called paradise beach in Calangute, the hotel was basic but clean right on the beach and served decent food. The first thing I noticed about the beach was just how quiet and spacious it was, hardly... Read review

If You're Goan to Goa
Review of Goa (India) by  WickWodderwick

Advantages: Sun - Marvellous Beaches & Markets-Friendly people-Relaxing
Disadvantages: Bit Dusty - Third world technology - electricity goes off sometimes

...Goa is a magical resort on the west coast of India. It is suited to couples, Backpackers, families, in fact it is an 'all-rounder' In the north you will find lively resorts with great nighlife. To the South, you will find the upper class hotels and deserted beaches, in fact too deserted if you ask me. The South is for the more relaxed and layed-back holiday animal. Before arriving at your resort, you must first go through the Dabolim airport experience. It is like something from the film Cassablanca. Large roof fans churning through the hot atmosphere. You will then make your way through the imigration which is a very slow process where everyone and his dog wishes to view your passport. Once through, you will encounter one baggage reclaim and a hoard of self employed porters who will race you to your case (and probably win) grab it from... Read review

Goa (India)
Review of Goa (India) by  Jarrac

Advantages: The cost of living, Great food, weather(pick your season).
Disadvantages: Having to pay bribes to the Police to get home every night.

...Having just spent the best part of a month out in Goa. My home was slap bang in the middle of Anjuna market that kicks into life every Wednesday at 05:00 in the morning. I feel the place has had its day. Yes the state is full of wonderful Portugese churches, a million and one palm trees, but its not at all beautiful. For me Goa is now spoiled. Now that the large package tour operaters have their foothold and the developers have raped the land its better to go elsewhere. Don't get me wrong Goa has some nice places. Really nice, friendly locals and ok beaches. Though they're not a patch on the beaches to be found in S E Asia, i.e. Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. Also, Goa like the rest of India has a big dog problem, making it unsafe to wander the streets and lanes after dark for fear of getting bitten by a rabid mut hellbent on seeking... Read review
