Paradise Of Beaches
Review of Goa (India) by majeedkazi

Advantages: Food, Beaches, Fort, People, oh so many
Disadvantages: None

...you will get every drinks over here, but the local drink over here is Feni which is made from Cashewnuts. So if want to try something different then do try it, Goan feni is quite Famous. Hotels - There are good hotels to stay in goa to name a few which i know are Taj Exotica Goa Marriot Goa Resort The Leela Goa Oceanic Hotel and so on, there are other cheaper hotels as well. But the most cheapest place to stay are the rooms offered by the locals out there, they let the rooms in thier houses which compared to Hotels is much Cheaper if you planning to go on a long visit. The places which you should not miss are Candolim Beach - you should visit White Horse Shack you all will have a great time there. Baga Beach - This beach is most of the time crowded , this beach is beautifull, good restaurants and bars & nice people. Anjuna Market... Read review

Make Merry with Feni in Goa
Review of Goa (India) by ananya123

Advantages: lots of beaches
Disadvantages: litter

...to the catholicity of the people's beliefs as well as their mutual tolerance. Indeed, Goa is could be loved just for this rare quality which one feels imperceptibly on even a short visit. Goa beaches: Calangute is my favourite beach. It is the most famous and most crowded. if u love music,dance,chitter-chatter of countless people around you then calangute is the place for you. The main road which leads straight to the beach is full of Kashmiri-run handicraft boutiques and Tibetan stalls selling Himalayan curios and jewellery. The high quality textiles from Rajasthan, Gujarat and Karnataka can be bought from here. Anjuna Beach: Anjuna is known for its infamous full moon parties and for its flea market. Baga beach:Baga is actually an extension of Calangute beach but it is secluded enough to gain popularity among the topless sunbathers, though... Read review

Great food, great sun, not packed with Brits
Review of Goa (India) by sekyc

Advantages: Cheap, very sunny, great beaches, food
Disadvantages: Lack of sight-seeing places

...at the airport by the villa owner's driver then at villa by Sue, one of the 2 women who run Lazydays in Goa itself. She had lots of hints and tips and was very helpful. We ate mainly at the shacks, which do great cheap food and usually provide sunbeds for free. Try the king prawns - delicious. In the evenings, we usually went to try other things, and often treated ourselves to an good meal in an air-con restaurant - they cost about the same as a meal in England. In Candolim, there is the Fort Aguada Beach Resort and in Baga, there is Le Restaurant (which is not air-con but does great food). The beaches are very long, but the sea is choppy. Also try the Baga saturday night market and the bigger Arpora one on Weds - great shopping - and HAGGLE! However there was a lack of things to do - so if you want more than just lying on the beach you might... Read review

This destination is a must
Review of Goa (India) by rosehall

Advantages: Cheap food, lovely locals and plenty to do
Disadvantages: Visa costs £30

...exactly where to meet him as there are hundreds of Tuc tucs there. There is also Anjuna market on a Wednesday bur personally I prefer the Baga market as Anjuna market is held during the day and can be very hot to walk around. It also doesn't have the same atmosphere as Baga market and I found that the traders were pushier at this market. Another market is Mapsa market on a Friday during the day and is mainly for the locals, it is still nice to while a coupe of hours here. They sell general household items, lots of fruit and veg, spices, and the usual Kashmir traders. Scuba Diving in Goa Not many people realise that you can scuba dive in Goa. My husband and I passed our open water PADI diving course while we were first in Goa. The dive school is a 5 star IDC centre, based in Miramar near Panjim and are well recommended for their customer... Read review

Goa - an amazing 'must visit' place
Review of Goa (India) by flamegirl75

Advantages: Great weather, friendly people, great prices, lots to do and see
Disadvantages: Malaria tablets, humid at night, bugs

...This was our first visit to India and we were apprehensive, especially after reading about the 'culture shock' and the bureaucracy of the airport. Needless to say we experienced both! But, it only took us a couple of days to settle in and we had a fantastic holiday. All in all, we found Goa to be a wonderful charming place. The food is delicous and Baga has some fantastic restaurants with menus to suit all tastes. If you came to Baga on an all inclusive holiday you would be missing out. Our favourites were Lucky Star Shack at the bottom of Tito's Lane whose BBQ night is a must, The Ritz Shack in Calangute/Candolim, Fiesta Restaurant on Tito's Lane, Cavala, East Meets West, Kim Faa Chinese and The Hot Plate on CSM Lane. All great food and service at unbelievably cheap prices. After exploring the resort, I would say that our hotel 'The... Read review

My Experience with Goa !!!!!
Review of Goa (India) by TechSavvy03

Advantages: Becahes, Churches and Water Sports
Disadvantages: Crowd at Popular sites

...I will not tell you about the Kms and the Location , rather i will tell you what you should do an dhow would you feel......yes, afterall its about sharing the experience!!! My Experience with Goa was in October 2006 with my family. Its a place where you can anjoy alone or with your family or when you are on Honeymoon. Means its a complete package. The main highlights of the place are the BEACHES, which are spread all around in the State. There are numerous beaches and some which deserve worth mention are : Vagator Palolem Candolim Baga Ajanta I would suggest that avaoid the rush at the Candolim and Vagator, which are not-so-clean, and enjoy the lovely beauty at the Palolem Beach. If you are a Water - Sport savvy then you will like the Beach near to the Taj resort. The Para-Gliding will make your nerves full with excitement. I am... Read review

Tried and tested
Review of Goa Restaurant by missydoc

Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review

...We tried and tested many restaurants in North Goa near Baga. Deli Darbar - Panjim An exclusive restaurant which was recommended by our First Choice rep and also our Taxi driver. It is located in the capital city of Goa in Panjim (aka Panaji). Once outside, you are greeted by a doorman dressed in a very authentic suit that reminded me of indian guards with a turban and long white moustache. The decor inside is very posh with rich golds and reds in the seating fabrics and red drapes on the walls. In the far back is the brightly lit bar where the drinks are served from. I clearly remember the large bottle of whiskey sitting on the counter, a blue light feature and wine glasses hanging from the ceiling. The choice of food and drinks in the menu is vast. We were spoilt for choice and not knowing when we were going to come again, we... Read review

Got To Go To Goa
Review of Goa (India) by daylehall

Advantages: cheap to eat, excellent weather, lovely locals
Disadvantages: some ares poverty stricken, visa costs £30

...already been warned that they can be pushy at the airport so we just refused to tip anyone. Baga We stayed in Baga near Calangute while we were in Goa. We stayed in a 2 star hotel which was basic but very clean. Baga is a small town that has many market type stalls, lots of hotel ranging from 5 to 2 stars and lots of restaurants and pubs. The roads are not like roads in Britain and we were warned by our tour rep that pedestrians come last in the order of the road - you have to look out for the cars and tuk tuk's as they wont look out for you. We were advised to get taxis everywhere but we preferred to discover places on foot and never encountered any problems. Yes, you have to be aware of vehicles and random cows roaming the streets but on the whole we felt pretty safe. Travelling round Goa You have three options when wanting to get... Read review

Ronil Beach Resort - Baga Beach, my experience
Review of Ronil Beach Resort, Goa by flamegirl75

Advantages: Good setting on Baga Rd, close proximity to bars and restaurants
Disadvantages: Could be noisy at the front of the hotel

...After exploring the resort, I would say that the The Ronil Beach Resort appeared to be one of the better hotels in Baga, although the decor in the rooms is tired and the bathrooms need re-furbishing, this is the only downside - there is room service, laundry service and fresh towels daily. Most important of all it is CLEAN. The staff are brilliant, always smiling, polite and very hard working. Our room was in one of the two storey blocks beside the main pool area, which was a sanctuary. In the rooms closer to the front of the hotel, the traffic noise from the busy and sometimes chaotic road would have been unbearable. The air con is FREE and can be left switched on even when you are out. We travelled in April/May when the heat can be relentless, even at night, so this was a big benefit. We did not have any problems with bugs... Read review

Beautiful and Relaxing Goa
Review of Goa (India) by wisecraft

Advantages: Very cheap, Great variety of food, friendly people
Disadvantages: Dusty, mad traffic, electricity cuts out

...If you want a long haul holiday that is not too expensive then Goa is the place for you. It is not full of nightclubs and rowdy people (although there are places that you can go if you like that kind of thing). I stayed in a place called Calangute just down the road from Baga (which a few people have heard of) It is a resort centre about an hour from the airport but only 400m from the beach. It has chemists, supermarkets, subway, domino's pizza, internet cafe's and all the little souvenir stalls and market stalls that you would associate with a "resort". There is also a large selection of bars and restaurants serving food from the traditional curry to chinese, mexican, english, thai and everything in between. There is a good selection of vegetarian restaurants which offer wonderful dishes and the seafood is to die for! You can have... Read review
