Review of Callaway Golfballs by
zappamuse
Advantages: Incredible feel
Disadvantages: Price
...Callaway have waited a long time before entering into the golf ball market. I welcome them with open arms. After many years playing the titleist hps wound ball I decided to give the callaway a go. The price wasn't too frightening although it seems worse due to them only being sold in sleeves of five or more rather than the usual three. As soon as I had one in my hand I knew this ball was different. It almost feels sticky to the touch. The feel of it off the club face is anything but sticky. This baby really flies. Not like a distance ball, you can really feel this come away from the face. No loss of accuracy which was really pleasing. But the callaway really comes into it's own around the green.
It's soft feel really is unlike any other ball I have ever tried. You learn to trust it very very quickly. Putting with it is an absolute...

The Best Club I've ever Used!
Review of Callaway Great Big Bertha II by
foxstuart
Advantages: Very long and very easy to use
Disadvantages: Price
...I have recently upgraded to the new Callaway Great Big Bertha II. I changed from using a Callaway Steelhead I, a club I was very reluctant to move away from.
I made the switch as I seemed to be losing distance compared to my playing partners, most of whom now have titanium drivers.
The spec I chose was a firm graphite shaft with 10 degrees of loft. I opted not to go for the Pro-series version (as my handicap is 12) as this is not as forgiving.
There are two types of GBB II, the standard version and the +Plus version. The latter is the one I have but does not conform to USGA rules. living in the UK, this isn't a problem.
The difference between the two is that the +Plus version has a greater COR (Coefficient of Restitution) i.e. put simply, this means the bounciness that the club head provides, hopefully meaning an extra 5 or so yards...

Callaway Big Bertha Red Balls
Review of Callaway Big Bertha Series Golf Balls by
LJenna
Advantages: Seem to go miles!
Disadvantages: None
...Being relatively new to the game of golf, I need as much help as possible in getting my ball to go further!
My partner introduced me to Callaway (he is obsessed by the game and only Callaway stuff will do for him!!)
As a lady golfer I have tried many of the golf balls designed specifically for lasies, and although I found these to be good, my partner eventually persuaded me to try Callaway.
As some Callaway products can be pricey, I decided to go for the Big Bertha Balls (Red for distance) which seem to be a little more reasonable than some of the other Callaway Balls. Cost me £17.99 for a dozen.
Although they weren't miracle makers, my distance has definitely improved - reckon they go a good 10 yards further which is a big thing for me! I will definitely continue to use this type of ball and would recomment it to others also!...

Want To Hit The Ball Like Tiger Woods
Review of Callaway Mens Big Bertha ERC II Titanium Drivers by
the_mad_cabbie
Advantages: Hits the golf ball both longer and straighter
Disadvantages: There is a question about its legality.
...~ ~ The Callaway ERC driver is the latest offering from the renowned golf club manufacturers Callaway, whose equipment is the choice of so many of today’s top professionals, and hence much sought after and purchased by the sport’s millions of amateurs.
This club is, in fact, in the second stage of its development, the original ERC 1 recently being superseded by Callaway’s latest model, the ERC 2.
~ ~ Before I get into describing the golf club and why it is considered so different from many other drivers, let me tell you about some of the controversy it has caused in the golfing world.
There are two “ruling bodies” in the world of golf. The oldest (and still most highly respected) is the Royal and Ancient Golf Club at Saint Andrews, the home of golf.
The other is the USPGA and USGA, the professional...

Wam Bam thank you Bertha
Review of Callaway Great Big Bertha II by
fuzzycats27
Advantages: Balance and diastance
Disadvantages: Intial price.
...I purchased my Great Big Bertha from American Golf Discount just over a year ago. I had been looking into updating my driver for a while. I previously owned a 10 degree Big Bertha Steelhead.
I tried 3 drivers the day I got the Great Big Bertha. They were apart from the GBB, a Titleist and a Ping driver. Each of them had a 10 degree loft and a firm flex shaft. The differnce in price across the different drivers were about £150. The Ping being the cheapest and the GBB being the most expensive. Because I had already owned a Callaway Driver I knew of the quality and service you get from Callaway but I wanted to try other brands because the technology had come along way and price was also a factor.
After hitting each club on the driving range and using a computer to see how the drives went it became clear that the GBB was going...

Calloway Big Bertha Irons (Set)
Review of Callaway Mens Big Bertha Pro Series X-12 Irons by
StedicUK
Advantages: Good looking, nice feel to the swing, rugged construction
Disadvantages: No more excuses! Expensive to buy when new
...I purchased a set of these clubs from a friend who found that he liked a different set more. I feel it is important to point out that I am not a golf professional and know little about the design and constructon of golf clubs.
I have been using these clubs for about 4 months now and I must say that I do find them rather good. While I cannot say that they have made all of my shots straight and long, they have made my game slightly better. Before using these clubs I used a very average set of clubs, so the difference is large. The irons are relatively lightweight and feature a larger "sweet spot" - the area on the club face where the ball will travel a long way. As such the back swing feels more controlled, leading to a more positive and less rushed downswing. This combined with a large sweet spot - allowing some flexibility...

Rescue me cheaply
Review of Ping G5 Hybrid by
plod591
Advantages: Price, quality and result
Disadvantages: none
...For a man of my limited ability playing the game with a handicap of 24, Ping clubs would be a luxury but wasted money in my case.
I had never owned a rescue club or recovery club as these hybrids are more commonly known and my golf suffered whenever I found my ball in the semi rough or slightly off the fairway. No matter what club I used I could never get any distance out of the crap I was in.
I did eventually discuss the rescue clubs, as I prefer to call the hybrids, with fellows golfers at my club and found their advice very helpful. The majority agreed that buying the Ping, Taylor made, Callaway and other famous well used brands of the professional golfers would be a waste of money and to search for more reasonably priced hybrids.
With this advice I scoured both the internet and several golf shops before finally visiting American...

Ping G5 Hybrid Golf Club
Review of Ping G5 Hybrid by
ccundall
Advantages: Easy to strike, good ball control, flexible
Disadvantages: Cost
...Initially I was very dubious on the whole new revolution that is a hybrid club, despite friends telling me how good they are. Put simply a hybrid is a new type of club that is part-driver, part-iron and looks exactly like you'd imagine, the face is like an iron but the back of the club is a similar shape to a driver. I'd always thought of these clubs as a gimmicky-satellite tv shopping channel waste of money….. until I tried one.
I had decided to change my irons so took a trip down to a local golf shop/driving range to try out the Callaway X-20's. After I'd hit a few shots with a Callaway X-20 7-iron I went back and spoke to the club pro about the problem I was facing. The only reason I wanted to buy a new set of irons was because I couldn't use my 'skinny' 3-4 iron effectively enough, the clubs offered so little forgiveness...

The Beast Is HERE!!
Review of TaylorMade R7 Quad Driver by
superrobclark
Advantages: Unparralled Distance
Disadvantages: Large Price Tag
..., and thought that was huge, until I used the golf ball cannon that is the R7. On average I used to drive 255 yards, but after using the steroid of the golf world, the R7 Quad i can now drive an average of 280 yards.
Sweet spot, I think sweet face describes it best! The ball swipps away with that B-E-A-Utiful ping sound from almost anywhere on the club, just think of the green eyed monster engulfing your playing partners when you consitently hit perfect drives.
The R7 Quad is aimed at the low to mid handicaper, as they will experience the biggest gain in distance! On purchasing the club I played of a 16 and now play of 8! Think what wonders it will do to you!
The prize of the R7 quad varies but there are plenty of second hand clubs available!
On a final note, before you consider buying a callaway or a mizuno, go down to a Taylormade demo day...
