Reviews of guide peru

New and unusual experience
Review of General: Peru by  Doc18

Advantages: gorgeous scenery, friendly people
Disadvantages: pick-pocketing, toilets are gross

...Travelling to Peru was one of the most daunting experiences of my life but it was also the most exciting and memorable times too. If you are travelling to Peru I recommend that you do the Inca Trail as it is challenging, rewarding and above all the scenery is not something you are likely to see every day. Lake Titicaca is also not something to be missed- the reed islands in paricular, although small, are fantastic. Also worth visiting is the Colca Canyon, the deepest canyon in the world (not even the Grand Canyon is this deep!) and there are guides who are willing to take you up the extinct volcanoes around the area, such as El Misti. For the more sporting of you there are opportunities to go white water rafting in the same area of Arequipa. Warning: Lima is not an attractive city and pick-pocketing is rife! Cusco is beautiful... Peru - with Page and Moy
Review of Cuzco by  junta

Advantages: Good tour company, everything arranged
Disadvantages: Have to stick to the tour companies timetable

...not spend all my time being sheperded around by the tour guide, but got to see parts of Lima and Cusco that normal package tourists wouldn't see. If you go to Peru, take the same precautions you would anywhere to protect your safety, but there is no need to go over-board. Be sensible and don't flaunt your wealth. Page & Moy looked after us well, especially when my wife was taken to hospital. Those of you interested in shopping. You can buy all the latest gizmos, and fancy clothes, together with Indian artefacts and clothing at reasonable prices.... Read review

one month backpacking around northern peru
Review of General: Peru by  AnnaMayfield

Advantages: friendly people, such a variety in landscape, everything is very cheap!
Disadvantages: lima is always foggy, cant get anywhere without speaking spanish and they never think your arriving untill u get there!

...well, after spending 1 month backpacking around northern peru with 19 other people, i guess i'd better tell everyone about it! we got the 15 hour flight from heathrow to lima, and when we arrived we got minibuses to the richest area in lima where we stayed in a nice hostel called san jose in miraflores. after a couple of days in lima (tourist markets, museums, shops and fog) we took an internal flight to tarapoto in the north, which was really hot and sunny and we stayed in a lovely hotel called hostel lilly which had a swimming pool, roof terrace and air conditioning, which was very useful! tarapoto had a few nice, cheap shops, a good jewellry market, a pretty main square, a pizzaria and a karaoke bar and disco! from tarapoto we took an 8 hour bus journey to yurimaguas, through foresty hills. its a very bumpy journey... Paddington Bear has been there... so did I
Review of General: Peru by  Peugeot106

Advantages: Kindness of the people/ various landscape (all gorgeous)/ very cheap
Disadvantages: must speak spanish if you want to travel a bit/ no organisation at all (don't have the same notion of Time)

...Holidays are finishing slowly... leaving behind some very nice memories that i would like to share with you. So "yes", as you might have guessed (thanks to the title!), I had the occasion to travel for two small weeks on the West coast of South America, and more precisely in Peru. I don't really know how to write this opinion... I have many things to say... I'll try not to do something too confusing. First of all, i must tell you what made me do this trip! It is my hobby for the Scottisch Country Dance and Highland Dancing... Basically my dancegroup was invited for a Festival to do some demonstrations in Peru. The advantage of being inviting is that you don't have to pay for accomodation and food (it's so great!!!), but the bad point would be that you need to "work" a bit in exchange... and dancing at that height with the lack... Llama Travel
Review of Llama Travel by  rosehall

Advantages: Excellent customer service, provide amazing trips
Disadvantages: None at all.

...Well What More Can I Say??? I used this little known tour operator Llama Travel when I recently went to the Galapagos Islands and Ecuador. This tour operator specialise only in Peru, Galapagos and Ecuador holidays. The reason I am writing a review on this tour operator is because they gave such fantastic service from the first initial contact till the end of our holiday in South America. Brief History Of Llama Travel. After living in Peru for several years and enjoying the wonderful wildlife, amazing scenery along with the culture and adventure Luca Newbold felt that everybody should have the chance to visit this country. When he returned to the UK he found that holidays to South America were far too expensive for the average person to holiday to. Along with a former director of Thompson Holidays Llama Travel was set up with the aim... Read review

Thomas Cook package tour around Peru
Review of General: Peru by  scalygreen

Advantages: Hassle free holiday!
Disadvantages: Moved quickly and became quite fatigued

...We went to Peru in 2003 with Thomas Cook holidays. It was a package holiday, but given the variety of desitnations available in peru it offered the most hassle free way of gettign around and getting to see everything. Having never been abroad before I found the package hoiday deal most helpful. We got picked up at the house and dropped at heathrow to a waiting tour guide who told us where to go and what to do. This tour guide was then with us through the trip and sorted us all out speedily and efficiently even when the planes were delayed due to powercuts. Where I might have got stressed out in an airport due to delays and scedules we simply sat back and relaxed and let the guide deal with it all. Most gratifying. The holiday was half board, with only a few days (about 5 out of 17) where we had to find our own food... Read review

Somewhere that will be exploited soon
Review of Lake Titicaca by  beatlemanic

Advantages: Remote Beauty
Disadvantages: Risk of sunburn

...Lake Titicaca spans the border between Peru and Bolivia and is one of (if not the) highest navigable lakes in the world at altitude 4600m (approx). It is also the largest lake in South America. The Peruvian side of Titicaca is better known for its "floating islands" but the Bolivian side has much to recommend it. It is very undeveloped by western standards - there are a few, well spaced restaurants and boats for hire, but nothing equating to mass tourism - yet. There are two sections to the lake - the more famous larger section contains the Isla del Sol - where it is possible to stay overnight. On our trip, however, we only went for a day visit and went to the smaller part of the lake, visiting one of the islands there. It was a fascinating trip. On the islands, villagers live a subsistence lifestyle which is, as yet largely... Read review

Spiritual awakening or badly written adventure
Review of The Celestine Prophecy - Carol Adrienne, James Redfield by  steven938

Advantages: Advice on spiritual awakening
Disadvantages: Requires a very open mind

...meeting she tells him of ancient documents of which she has a copy of the first part. The document, discovered in Peru, tells of how mankind will become more spiritually awakened in the 2nd millenium and she suggests that he would be interested in persuing the document further. The documents, which she suspects are being actively supressed by the Peruvian authorities, are known as insights and a person will become aware of the meaning of the insights as they are required in the spiritual awakening of both the individual and gradually the whole of mankind. Before leaving the story completely, the lady friend intrigues the author by letting him know the first insight, that co-incidences happen for good reasons, and based on this loose premise, the story-teller decides to go to Peru and discover what he can about the other insights. From... Read review

Cusquena Lager
Review of Cusquena Peruvian Lager Beer by  andreweduk

Advantages: Clean Crisp and Refreshing Lager. Different from the normal stuff
Disadvantages: Not widely available and only 4bottles in a pack!

...Cusquena is a lager beer brewed in the mountain city of Cusco high in the Peruvian Andes in South America. It is an imported beer so therefore the beer you buy in the UK is the same beer that you would buy in Peru! None of the rubbish that you drink thinking its the proper drink only to find its brewed by Interbrew or somebody in the UK, this comes from Peru!! A percentage of the money from the sale of this beer goes to help under privilidged children in Peru, so you're doing your bit for charity too!! It has a nice clean taste, really pure and I think its really good. Im always up for trying any new imported beers but guess some people would rather stick to what they know, but trust me this is a very normal tasting lager but better and knowing you're drinkign something from Peru is quite cool!! Its available in Sainsbury's beer section... Read review
