Advantages: Some good dance tracks across genres
Disadvantages: Not as good as some of their other compilations

...This CD is actually a few years ago but I had heard some good things about it when i bought it earlier this year. It has laso benn credited on other music and review sites as an eponymous Hed Kandi CD. Beach House Mix DJ Gregory's Elle opens the disc with an atmospheric Spanish guitar making it an ideal Ibiza chill out track that sounds as if it should be on the soundtrack for the Beach Life game. It synchs seamlessly into Late Night Alumni's Empty Streets, followed by the full 12" version of Fade by Solu Music featuring Kimblee (I already have the Eric Kupper mix) there is an 80s style electro bit in the middle before Kimblee starts warbling again. Starting out with a bit more of an interesting tune Blue Six's Music & Wine was the fourth track which then continued on to be much of a muchness. Love Will Find A Way... Read review

...Decided to write reviews of all my favourite CD's.....so here goes Gawd....I've loved Hed Kandi for as long as I can remember, especially the Twisted Disco series, however this Disco Heaven CD released in 2002 is one of my faveourites and is always playing in my car. For those of you not too familiar with Hed Kandi, its the cool, sophisticated, trendy cousin to run-of-the-mill house music, such as Ministry of Sound or Cream. ...I'm amazed that no-one has written a review on this CD yet....and as you can probably guess.......I love Hed Kandi it really is music you can listen to anytime and anywhere. The Twisted Disco series of releases (as I said in my previous Hed Kandi review) are easily my favourites as I prefer my house music to be a little like me........deep, bangin, dirty and rough around the edges!! ha What you get with this CD is pretty much in the title "Twisted Disco", what they do is take some well known, and some not-so well known dance tracks or vocal remixes, strip them down, take off the shiney edges and drop in a dirty beat. The track of the CD for me is number 10 on CD 1. It is a remix of the Eric Prydz Vs Pink Floyd hit "Proper Education". The track has been mixed by a guy called Sebastian Ingrosso. Advantages: some great r & b tunes, clever lyrics (and the lyrics are printed in the cd inlay - wahey!)
Disadvantages: she doesn't have the same "attitude" as her competitors, some dull ballads

...INTRODUCTION - WHO IS KANDI? If anyone reading this has previously heard of Kandi Burruss, it is probably related to the fact that she is the Grammy-award-winning songwriter behind numerous r & b smash hits, such as Destiny's Childs "Bills Bills Bills", Pink's "There You Go" and, most famously, TLC's "No Scrubs" - all catchy, clever and distinctive tracks which shot up charts all over the world. Some may even know she launched her own solo career back in 2000, with the song "Don't Think I'm Not". But this wasn't actually her first venture into the charts. In the early nineties, she was one quarter of a girlgroup named Xscape. I know nothing about this band myself but apparently they were platinum-selling so I guess they were big in the States. Advantages: a fantastic nostalgic musical trip

...AS much as i am a huge fan of all things Kandi'ed, they seem to release an awful lot of compilations every year, which as brilliant as some of the tracks are on the albums, they still sound the same every year. I love the 3 album packs, but bought brand new they do dent the pocket money slightly, and i tend to get bored of the albums very quickly. On saying that i do enjoy the nostalgic trips on the Back To Love series, and i love the fact that the first CD gives us some good old classic house/electronica and the second moves into more groove/soul stuff. Some tracks on these albums get lost in memory and sound, but when heard again definitely ignites the senses and memories...and Back To Love 03.03 is no different. I'd be bold enough to say i think BTL 03.03 could be their best to date, having bought more recent volumes in the series... Read review

...August 2005 I went to see my father's side of the family for the first time. I never had contact with them and was a bit scared to go on my own. But I felt I had to meet my grandma before she dies. And she wasn't very well, so time was precious. My family in Sri Lanka is very rich, with royal people in the family tree and a lot of high influence business people. So it wasn't very surprising that I got picked up with a chauffeur in one of the three or four cars that belonged to aunty Christine's family. She lives in a mansion in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. On the day we wanted to go and see the elephant orphanage my aunt was busy and so I went with her Secretary and the Secretaries daughter. ...Our decision to travel up to the ancient capital city of Kandy turned out to be an excellent one. My wife, daughter and I had quickly tired of our beach hotel in the south western tourist trap at Brunewela, with its security fencing and lurking beach bums (see my report on this resort for further details) and jumped at the suggestion from our Kuoni Rep that we should hire a car and local driver and head up country for a complete change of scenery. As it turned out our driver, Dev, hailed from Kandy (a Kandy Man?) and with his good English, ready smile and fund of local knowledge he proved to be an invaluable guide as, for the first time we began to experience and explore the real Sri Lanka. ...Tokyo Project presents The Collection CD comes from the new venture by Mark Doyle, who was previously boss at Hed Kandi before starting up his own label. This is their first release. Disc One It opens promisingly with a track called The Weekend by Michael Gray which is quite a famous club classic; I was disappointed to know I already had it on Hed Kandi: Disco Heaven from last spring. It mixes well with Jamiroquai's Seven Days in Sunny June, which is the next track, and a commercial hit, which most tracks used on such compilations aren't. This was followed by Sean from Aya, a track that was on Hed Kandi's Spring Sampler 2005 and their Winter Mix 2004. Martin Solveg's Everybody was one of the better tracks by him and I also enjoyed the Mylo Vs Miami Sound Machine's Doctor Pressure, a combo of Dr Beat from MSM and Mylo's Drop... Read review
