The top ten horror films of all time
Review of Top 10 Horror Movies by
crazyleanne
Advantages: All good horror movies
Disadvantages: None
...Horror is and probably always will be my favourite of all genres. I've loved the genre dearly since I was about 12 (I'm now 17) and in those 5 short years I have tried to see the most scariest and goriest horror flicks made. I have notched up quite a few horrors and have seen all the classics (Exorcist, Halloween, AWIL, Evil Dead etc) as well as the obscure and obscene but even though I've seen my fair share of the crappy horror films still love horror. The only disadvantage to my passion is that after my first two or three horror films I stopped getting scared, not to say I haven't seen films that have shocked and disturbed. So here is my top ten horror films.
Number 10 - An American Werewolf in London
My all time favourite werewolf flick is a classic horror film. I like it because it is a horror but also has that slight comedic...

The Simpsons - Treehouse of Horror
Review of The Simpsons - Treehouse Of Horror DVD by
nellythedog
Advantages: All simpsons episodes are good, I suppose.
Disadvantages: Not very scary.
...The Simpsons - Treehouse of Horror is a compilation of four halloween specials of The Simpsons. Those four episodes are "Treehouse of Horror V", "Treehouse of horror VI", "Treehouse of Horror VII" and "Treehouse of Horror XII". Each Treehouse of Horror episode contains three episodes. Personally, I find most of the halloween specials of The Simpsons quite boring and not very scary. Some can be quite good, though.
Treehouse of Horror V
This episode is one of the best halloween specials, in my opinion. It is really funny at points. In all three stories, Groundskeeper Willie is killed while trying to help the Simpsons out of tricky situations. In the second story, Homer goes time travelling which seemed to me to be too science fictiony.
Treehouse of Horror VI
In this episode I found that all the episodes were not scary...

The Best and Worst of Horror Films
Review of Top 10 Horror Movies by
eve6kicksass
Advantages: Some movies you may never heard of before that are recommended
Disadvantages: Obviously, not everyone likes horror films.
...I never been a die-hard fan of horror flicks, though I can still pick a best 10 and worst 5 that I feel have something more to them than just shocks, chills and blood. I'm going to list movies that can be labelled as horror movies, instead of choosing the most scary movies, because those can be classified onto another list, however, there would be a film or two falling into both lists. So, here we go:
10 BEST HORROR FILMS
10. CUJO (1983) --- Not as faithful to the Stephen King novel on which it's based, though this is still one of King's best adaptions to the screen. Dee Wallace Stone (E.T.) and Danny Pintauro (TV's Who's the Boss?) star in this terrifying---and somewhat sad---story of a rabid St. Bernard dog terrorizing a mother-and-son trapped in a broken-down car. Takes it time to get started, but emerges a real...

horror is a fear of....
Review of 5 Scariest Horror Books by
nursey311
Advantages: gets your adrenaline pumping
Disadvantages: nightmares for weeks!!
...Horror is a strange concept a lot of people think of ghosts and ghoulies, others think of spiders and earwigs or child abuse and war. Horror is defined as a fear of, loathing, terror in the dictionary. So the following are my personal favourite horror books (in no particular order):
1.John Saul The Homing
I thought I would start with a supernatural book, John Saul tends to centre his stories around children and adolescents. As studies show children are more likely to encounter the supernatural, as they still have fairly open minds so they don't question the logic behind an occurence like an adult would. This is certainly one of Sauls more skin crawling books, a widow comes back to hometown after the tragic loss of her childhood sweetheart to try and get some recognition back into her now upside down life. But something sinister...

Not Much of a Horror
Review of The Amityville Horror DVD by
afy9mab
Advantages: Some warm central perfomances
Disadvantages: An overwhelming lack of imagination or real scares
...On 14th November 1975, Ronald DeFeo brutally murdered his entire family, claiming voices in the house drove him to it. A year later newlyweds George and Kathy Lutz move in with her three children. Shortly after George's mind begins to unravel as the house takes hold of him.
The random remake roundabout spins into action once more and spits out this bloody lump of recycled 70s schlock horror. Unsurprisingly it comes from Michael Bay's horror remake conveyor belt. This version of the 70s schlocker is unlikely to cause many grumbles from purists - the original was hardly a classic and this version is solid enough. Director Andrew Douglas sticks to the Bay template; so we get photogenic leads in peril with plenty of cheap shocks, nosebleed editing and visual gimmickry. Sadly this makes for a very predictable film that lacks suspense...
