Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport Quality
Review of Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport by
bananamanuk
Advantages: New build, price, high quality, service, location
Disadvantages: Some airport noise
...OVERVIEW
I had not heard of the Carlton hotel chain prior to my visit to Ireland in late 2006, but it turned out to be a brand new 4 star modern hotel and the cheapest of this hotel class in Dublin at the time of my booking. I had already had a bad experience with a previous hotel in Ireland and was anxious that I didn’t want this episode repeated, so I took the plunge and booked with the Carlton.
I was not disappointed and will be returning later this year. The hotel is ideal for short breaks, business meetings, people with an interest in aviation and families.
LOCATION
The hotel is located about 5 minutes drive from the main airport terminal. The hotel is new, it only opened about a year ago, it’s smart, modern and extremely competitively priced for hotels in this class, especially when using one of the many online...

Best value hotel in Dublin
Review of Bewley´s Hotel Newlands Cross, Dublin by
kebabking
Advantages: Nice Price, Good Quality
Disadvantages: Out of town
...I am visiting Dublin again for the fifth time in November & was looking at Ciao reviews. I'm very surprised that this hotel hasn't been rated yet as it is a little treasure. I should say at this point that I went there in 2001 with a 6 month old child & they catered for him very well, so no problems on the family side of things.
The only thing that is a drawback about this hotel is that it is a little way out of town. However, there is a bus service right outside if you are on a budget & wish to sample the (dubious) delights of Temple Bar of an evening & the taxis are not that expensive either should you wish to get there in better style.
I've stayed here three times, twice on a tour of Ireland visiting family, once on a dedicated Dublin city break. On each occasion I have had nothing to put me off of the place.
Situated...

Great Dublin Hotel
Review of Blooms Hotel, Dublin by
killiefan
Advantages: Excellent Location, Nice Rooms
Disadvantages: Possibly Noisy
...I have now been to Dublin twice and both times i have stayed at Blooms Hotel as i was so impressed with it the first time. Blooms is a 3-star Hotel.
LOCATION
Firstly the location of Blooms is perfect for a nice weekend in Dublin. It is located in Angelsea Street which is in the Temple Bar area which means that within a few hundred yards you have a large selection of bars and restaurants which is perfect. Also within a ten minute walk is Grafton Street which is the main shopping area of Dublin.
STAFF
As soon as you enter the reception area of Blooms Hotel you are greeted by the friendly staff who are very nice and helpfull. They have either been very well trained or are naturally pleasant and willing to help. The staff will also give you a wake-up call in the morning if you require one, a service which we used to make sure...

Dublins Finest Hotel - Shines - in places
Review of The Westbury Hotel, Dublin by
XTHINKERAL
Advantages: Stylish, Comfortable, Well Staffed, Clean,
Disadvantages: Pricey, Check out times, Dodgy TV Reception
...room that I was made aware of. However I hear a wireless broadband connection is available on request - a colleague tells me.
The Bathroom was well stocked and very clean and bright, just what you need after a long journey to Dublin. Very Fluffy robes - Always a bonus.
I was disapointed by the TV in the rooms I saw in the westbury rooms. The reception was on occasions dodgy. However your staying in Dublin, there is more to do that watch TV - so only a minor critique.
Food wise - very prompt room service - though expensive - just like the mini-bar (but they always are). The Restaurant downstairs, was very good and well priced I found. However your probably find yourself eating outside the hotel if your only staying in Dublin for a few days - as there is so much on offer.
Location - FABULOUS - the Westbury is right next...

Abbey Hotel, Dublin
Review of Abbey Hotel, Dublin by
dandan88
Advantages: Central, Clean
Disadvantages: Basic Facilities
...I stayed in this lovely little hotel in Febuary of this year (2006). Arriving from Dublin Int. Airport, I found it very easy to find from the bus stop on O'Connel Street (only 5 min walk from 'The Spire' / centre).
Check in is not till early afternoon, so if arriving in the morning, make sure you have something to do/planned for the time between arrivial and check in.
The rooms are small, but comfortable and cean. My room consisted of two beds, a televsion with 15+ channels, numerous plug sockets, facilities for making a hot drink, bed side table with lamp, spaceous closet. The en-suit bathroom had a bath with mounted wall shower and curtain, large sink and toilet. Towels were provided and changed on request.
I paid for breakfast in the morning, which was served between 7-10am. The options were a cereal and yoghurt combination...

A great hotel in Dublin
Review of Quality Hotel Leisure Centre, Dublin by
gem686
Advantages: Cheap, great food, great leisure facilities,
Disadvantages: Located away from shops, bars and restaurants
...there from the hotel. It also attracts a lot of people from the building sites nearby (as this area is in development) as well as locals. So there are plenty of people to meet and it is definitely worth a drink on your way to Temple Bar. And have a vodka and red lemonade!
This is a great hotel, I guess the only thing that would put people off is the location if you can't or don't like walking. But as this area is being developed I am sure bars and restaurants will pop up down the river too. I would recommend it to everyone from business people, groups, families and couples. I will return to this hotel on my next visit to Dublin....

Paramount Hotel, Dublin
Review of Paramount Hotel, Dublin by
strangebedbug
Advantages: Nicely decorated, clean, helpful staff
Disadvantages: Very noisy area, dark rooms
...on Dublin and tourist activities. The bathroom was clean and well-proportioned, and had a really nice power shower and bath.
The main thing we noticed about the room was how dark it was - with all the lights on it was still too dim to be able to put on makeup in the main room, and although we requested an extra lamp, this didn't help much. We spoke to another couple staying there who had found the same thing, so I'm not sure how widespread that problem could be.
The hotel was very nice, and staff eager to help, but there is one big reason I would look elsewhere for my next Dublin stay - the noise. On the first night, a Thursday, we did not notice any real problems, apart form the usual street noise, but on the weekend it was too noisy to sleep. The hotel has a club attached to it, which blasted out the music, but the main problem was once...

Grafton Capital Hotel, Dublin
Review of Grafton Capital Hotel, Dublin by
pick_2u4
Advantages: Central location
Disadvantages: Noisy at the front of hotel.
...Grafton Capital Hotel (review)
Have just come back from celebrating St. Patrick's Day in Dublin and stayed for three nights in the Grafton Capital, Lower Stephen`s Street, Dublin 2. Myself and two girlfriends shared an ensuite triple room which consisted of a double and one single bed. It had tv, telephone, trouser press plenty of tea and coffee making facilities and the usual hair-dryer in the bathroom. For those that have used these hairdryers you will know that it's very difficult to style your hair properly though it's adequate for drying. The shower over the bath was quite powerful. The room which was roomy enough had a couple of chairs and dressing table with a large mirror. For those that wear make up use the bathroom mirror as the lighting in the room is not very bright. The wardrobe had a full sized mirror and about nine...

mount herbert hotel, Ballsbridge Dublin 4
Review of Mount Herbert Hotel, Dublin by
mabi
Advantages: excellent service
Disadvantages: none
...This is an excellent hotel in the Ballsbridge area of Dublin, it is near the Lansdowne DART station about 500 m but you do not hear it from the hotel.
It is also around the corner from Lansdowne Rd Stadium so ideal when concerts and sport are played there next year.
The service in the hotel is excellent from the moment you walk in the door to the time you leave after you check out.
The rooms are in excellent condition clean, they have ensuite facilities.
The breakfast provided is a buffet irish breakfast so handy if you want to have a late lunch and a shealthy breakfast. Cereals, soda bread and fruit are also available. Nothing is too much for the staff here.
The hotel bar has a balcony area and is excellent in the drinks it provides, the service is second to none.
I have stayed at this hotel on many occasions as I...

Grand Canal Hotel Dublin
Review of McEniff Grand Canal Hotel, Dublin by
mjc121
Advantages: Good restraunt, good location
Disadvantages: bathroom fan has no 'off' switch
...First the advice. If you are going to use this hotel (a 3* hotel) the best way to get to it is using the air-coach which goes from Dublin airport every 20 min or so. The stop you want is the 'school house hotel' The grand canal hotel is then just a short walk away. The air coach is far cheaper than taking a taxi (could be as much as €30 cheaper) and it's quicker.
One of the hotels big advantages (could be seen as a disadvantage by some). It is about a 15 - 20 min walk from the main shoping area of the city, so this means it is fairly quiet at night. However this also means that it is quite a distance from the big tourist attractins such as the Guinnes store house and the Jameson distillery.
The rooms are large, well decorated, double glazed, clean, are all on suite and as you would expect are serviced daily. The only problem...
