Ebury Hotel, Canterbuty Kent
Review of Kent, Miami by  Babybeee

Advantages: Freindly
Disadvantages: For the More Mature Traveller

...Ebury hotel, London Road, Canterbury £70 B&B (not sure if this is corporate rate) I stayed at this hotel for work, arrived on a Monday night and stayed 2 nights. I phoned before I arrived, lucky I did mainly it was to double check where they were but I asked about meals etc, some hotels have room service. The Chef goes home at 9pm so whilst on the phone the lady asked me if I wanted anything. I said a chicken salad, as it was quite late. I checked in and about 5 minutes later my chicken salad was at the door, I was surprised at the prompt service. The Hotel is set in very nice surroundings I didn’t realise until the next day, it is on the main road but you don’t know whilst in the hotel it’s self. The hotel is very close to the centre of Canterbury and from the car park you can see the Cathedral. I would say the centre is about... Read review

Manors Maketh Man!
Review of Bridgewood Manor Hotel, Chatham Kent by  andymcf

Advantages: Clean, comfortable and relaxing hotel, with relaxing ambience. Good deals are often available.
Disadvantages: Rooms are possibly on the small side. Location is "interesting", to say the least.

...I enjoy staying in decent hotels and in the course of finding different places to stay (and review) at bargain prices, I can often be found in hotels in fairly bizarre locations - take Basingstoke and Slough as previous examples. Who in their right minds...? My latest delectable destination was charming Chatham - one of the "Medway Towns" in mid-Kent, with what can only be described as an "interesting" reputation. It's not exactly somewhere you'd choose to go on holiday. Forsaking all reason, I went there last night, to stay at the Bridgewood Manor Hotel. Which was nice. Just don't tell my friends I did it! The hotel is located in quiet woodland and pleasant enough gardens, near to the M2 motorway in Kent. I've already ruled it out as being a holiday destination, and can only assume that it thrives on conferences and weddings... Read review

A - Z of Kent
Review of kent.gov.uk by  wiggglypufff

Advantages: Totally comprehensive guide to Kent
Disadvantages: Although navigation is easy, the volume of information is enormous and to fully explore the whole site could take days

...www.kent.gov.uk is the official Kent County Council website. Not the sort of site you’d pick to browse if you’re looking for thrill a minute fun and excitement, but if you have an interest in Kent for any reason, be it from the point of view as a current or perspective resident, business person, or visitor, it is well worth a look..... “Welcome to Kent, the Gateway between the UK and Europe, and to Kent County Council's website. This is a new site and content will be regularly added and updated. We hope it gives you lots of information about Kent, Kent County Council and its services.” The home page is visually plain and simple, displaying the short greeting message (above), in basic black arial font on a crisp white background. The main category headings of the site are displayed, in bold red font... Read review

***Beggars Can't be Choosers***
Review of The County Hotel, Ashford, Kent by  fabulous_girl

Advantages: good value
Disadvantages: hate the people!!

...When I am in the motherland of Tenterden, Kent, the pub that I nearly always end up in is the County Hotel, in Ashford. That doesn't make too much sense, as it's a good 15 miles away from where I live, but because my school was in Ashford, most of my friends are too, and so I have drive all the way over there to meet them. The County is a Wetherspoon's pub, and apparently hotel, although I am pretty much stumped about the features of the hotel, seeing as I have never noticed any suitcase-bearing revellers in their, or in fact any stairs to the rooms. It is a mystery to my friends and I. I feel like booking in just to see where these magical rooms are! Or maybe its just a name? Anyway, from here on in, I will telling you about the pub and restaurant facilities only. Anyway, Wetherspoon's are a countrywide chain of public houses... Read review

The George Hotel
Review of George Hotel, Lydd by  natalieg42x

Advantages: Good food, pleasant staff and good prices
Disadvantages: the ghostly feeling

...Whilst visiting friends in Lydd in Kent, we stayed at "The George hotel" a large hotel built in a very small town. When we went to the hotel, you can feel the characteristics and you can see some original features, we paid before we took our luggage up and the prices to stay for a double room is £45.00, a single room is £25.00, win is £45.00 and a room for a family of 3/4 is £55/£60. You can also have the choice to have breakfast there which was from £3.50 - £6.95 and of course you can't stay at a hotel without having there fry up!! The staff showed us our way up to our room, the place felt very strange and weird. As you walk along the narrow hallway on the top floor it was creaky and dim, you can even see that the flooring was slanted, it looked very spooky to me. We had a double bedroom with a TV and DVD player, tea and coffee... Read review

Calais Hotel Meurice
Review of Hotel Meurice, Calais by  webfoot

Advantages: Central location but quiet, elegant, luxurious
Disadvantages: Central location but not too easy to find

...I often go to France for short breaks, usually from Poole to Cherbourg but recently for a change, and because of some business in Kent, my wife and I decided to revisit one of our favourite hotels, the Hotel Meurice, in the very centre of Calais. We spent a Saturday and a Sunday night there at the beginning of February 2008 and we weren't disappointed. Last time we had been here was about 10 yrs ago when its elegant interior was a bit jaded. It has been improved since, although there are still little bits here and there that need some TLC. Let's get straight to the point - Calais isn't the most attractive town in France so who would want to stay here? Well we did. We wanted several things that the Meurice allowed us to do. It allowed us to wallow in the hotel's luxury for a couple of days. It allowed us to refresh our wine... Read review

Portland Hotel, Skuba And Thai Resturant
Review of The Portland Hotel, Folkestone by  XFactorBoi

Advantages: RIGHT IN THE HEART OF THE MUST SEE'S AND DO'S OF FOLKESTONE
Disadvantages: PARKING

...The Portland Hotel, Skuba Bar & Thai Restaurant. Owned by a gay couple called Lee & Tin, These guys have made a name for themselves in this establishment and the town. About 7 years ago this building was run down and dirty. They bought at auction with great prospects. Over the years the popularity of the bar has grown substantially. Started off as 'gay friendly' only gay people went to the bar and a handful of straight people or the hotel guests. Now homosexuality is more accepted, it is mixed and very busy especially in the summer. Bar and Beer Gardens & Terrace It has an outdoor drinking area with garden in front which greets all people from different walks of life. Pets are also too welcome in the garden and can grab a bowl whilst their owners grab a pint... Read review

The King Charles Hotel
Review of King Charles Hotel, Gillingham by  kimhumphreys

Advantages: Not a bad price, decent rooms.
Disadvantages: A bit basic!

...I've stayed in this hotel a few times, and to be honest, it's not a bad hotel. The facilities are exactly what you'd expect for the price, it's a bit basic but if you are just looking for a place to stay for a couple of nights, it's not bad. Right, I'll start with where it is. The address is Brompton Road, Gillingham, Kent and it is situated right next to the Black Lion Leisure Centre. It's about a 15 minute walk from Gillingham Train Station, or there is Chatham Train Station which is about a 30 minute walk away. There are obviously regular buses which stop near the hotel or taxi's if you don't fancy braving the buses. There's a lot of attractions nearby if you are planning to sight-see. There's Gillingham High Street 5 minutes from the hotel, which is basic and small, but it's not bad for a couple of hours shopping... Read review

The worst hotel in the UK? Possibly.
Review of Tyrella Hotel, Margate by  MissDirect

Advantages: A bed and a roof.
Disadvantages: Where do I start?

.... Needless to say, we won't be going back. No wonder the British seaside resorts are losing money. My advice to you- if you are going away for the weekend, book first, go on recommendations and don't be a mug like we were. In case you want to make a recommendation to an enemy, or you are an enviromental health officer, the address of the Tyrella Hotel is: 19 Canterbury Road Margate Kent... Read review
