...Hyde park was once a deer park for Henry the 8th when all that surrounded it was countryside, now just under half a millenium later the surrounding city doesn't hinder it's beauty. The size of the park is sufficient to get away from the fumes, hustle and bustle and noise of London city. If your visiting London for the first time Hyde park is a must, It goes with Big Ben, the tower of London and all things cockney. Hyde park is also a centre of sport and leisure, dogs are regularly walked (although the park rangers do a good job of keeping it clean!) Advantages: Huge but welcoming

...Hyde Park used to be a royal hunting ground, was once a venue for duels, executions and horse racing, and even became a giant potato field during WWII. It is now a place of fresh air, spring colour and lazy sunbathers. With 340 acres of green space, Hyde Park has plenty to offer with a variety of attractions, formal gardens and spacious woodlands. It contains the Serpentine, a lake used for swimming, boating and fishing; Rotten Row, the world famous riding track and the north east corner of the park is home to Speaker's Corner, popular with soapbox orators on a Sunday morning. Hyde Park even houses a Pet Cemetery (not of the Stephen King variety). In summer, there are weekend and bank holiday concerts at the bandstand. Advantages: Beautiful views, beautiful park

...I recently walked past Hyde park at about 10:00pm, and was reminded of what a truly beautiful place it is. What makes it so special I think is its position - it is smack bang in the middle of the nicest area in London - right next to the Albert Hall (and the beautiful Albert Memorial), with views stretching to Parliament and the Hilton. It is also beautifully manicured and all the paths are perfectly smooth - a skater's dream. And, what's more, it's free - you don't have to pay any entrance fee or toll to get in, you just stroll through the gates and there you are. If you're in the area, check it out.... Read review

...Hyde Park ~*~*~*~*~*~ Hyde Park is located, basically, in the middle of some of the busiest areas of London. Stepping through the gates magically transports you from the busy traffic, shops and rush of the city to lakes, long stretches of grass and trees and lots of wildlife! Getting There ~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Hyde Park covers a massive 350 acres and is therefore quite hard to miss! There are entrances to it all the way around. The Hyde Park website however states that the nearest rube stations are Lancaster Gate and Marble Arch (central line) and Hyde Park Corner and Knightsbridge (Piccadilly line). They advise again
