IBIS - that's French for "We have no hairdryer"
Review of Ibis Reading Centre, Reading by
koshkha
Advantages: If you need to be in the centre or Reading it's there
Disadvantages: You'll need patience and persistence to find it
...To set things in context before I even start to describe my experience at the Ibis in Reading, I think it's only fair to confess that I hate Ibis hotels. With a passion! I really did wonder what I'd done to offend our secretary and get booked in this one. I'm sure I didn't forget her birthday, raid the stationery cupboard or commit any other serious secretary-annoying offences. If there's one thing guaranteed to put a damper on my day it's that little four-letter word on a hotel booking confirmation. In my hotel-dictionary, the definition next to the word Ibis says 'nasty penny pinching crappy hotel'.
Location
My first challenge was finding the hotel. When I saw it was near the railway station I was suspicious that parking might be a problem so I rang ahead to check whether they had a car park and, as feared, the answer was no...

A night at the Ibis
Review of Ibis Hotel Little Bourke Street, Melbourne by
Looby5
Advantages: Service was great
Disadvantages: Room a bit small
...This past weekend I was lucky enough to have tickets to the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix, held at Albert Park in Melbourne. We had booked a 7.30am flight from Sydney and we landed in Melbourne at 8.45am bleary eyed but exited. The hotel is about 25 minutes way by coach from Melbourne's main airport, Tullamarine, and we pulled in at Southern Cross bus station which was a short 5 minute stroll to the hotel. It was too early to expect to get into our room at the Ibis but we were hoping they'd keep our luggage safe for is so we could get off to the track. When we arrived we explained what our plan was for the day and the receptionist was very helpful and accommodating, giving us a couple of options for luggage storage and checking us in so that we would have no hassle when we returned that evening. We went off and had a great day...

Euston Ibis - a disappointment!
Review of Ibis London Euston, London by
andycrowley
Advantages: Cleanliness; pleasant main hotel and rooms.
Disadvantages: Apalling catering and service arrangements.
...We booked the London Euston Ibis for a one night stay at the end of May. We had previously stayed at many Ibis hotels in several countries on mainland Europe and had always been delighted with our experiences.
However, our first stay in a UK Ibis was a different experience altogether.
The hotel itself and our room could not be faulted.
However, where this hotel fails miserably is in its standards of service and its catering arrangements. Despite being told over the telephone that restaurant service was available until midnight, this was in fact 2230 which scuppered our eating plans for the Saturday night. There was a large wall mounted bar food menu that promised an adequate meal 24 hours a day. However, when we went to order, we were told that the wall menu was no longer in operation and had been replaced by a significantly...

IBIS hotel - Swindon
Review of Ibis, Swindon by
nigeofnewbury
Advantages: Cheap, easy to find, friendly helpful staff
Disadvantages: Needs refurbishing
...My wife and I stayed at the IBIS hotel in West Swindon last weekend as we were going to a friends 40th birthday party that evening and neither us fancied the lengthy drive home in the early hours of the morning.
We booked in for 1 night, planning to arrive on Saturday afternoon and leave on Sunday morning.
We chose the IBIS because we wanted a budget hotel and because it was located very close to where the party was being held.
Also, we could book in anytime after mid-day and didn't have to vacate our room until mid-day either so we could have a lie-in after the party if we needed to.
~~ Booking ~~
As I had found this hotel using the web, it made sense to book the same way - this can be done from the IBIS website (www.ibishotels.com/ibis) quite easily and you receive...

Its Bliss to stay at Ibis
Review of Ibis Hotel Plymouth, Plymouth by
phillipsl
Advantages: European Feel, and good valus for money
Disadvantages: Bath are too short, breakfast excluded
...The Ibis, Plymouth is without doubt a very nice place to stay. It is certainly better than Travel Lodge/ Travel Inn and cheaper.
The Ibis is easy to find as it is on the main dualcarriageway when entering the city. It is also on a hill so you can spot the green/red sign in good time. Pulling up at the Ibis offers ample parking and the reception is well sign posted. There are only 51 rooms. There is even parking for a coach/mini bus.
The rooms are good value - £46.95 weekdays and weekends. This is for peak season, but during the off season prices are about £2 per night cheaper. Prices are per room and not per person. The reception is situated in the bar/restaurant - which can be a pain if you arrive late on a saturday evening. At best i have only seen 2 staff on serving at reception, but they also cover the bar...

Ibis Paris Roissey Charles de Gaulle Paris
Review of Ibis Paris Charles de Gaulle Paris Nord 2, Roissy-en-France by
jdeacon_162
Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: High demand
...Everyone has heard of Ibis hotels, but not many people are aware that they serve other countries worldwide, such as France.
Ibis Paris Roissey Charles de Gaulle Paris is a modern 4-storey building which was built with tourists in mind in the 1980s.
This hotel is perfect for any occasion, whether you're staying the night before/after your flight, or looking for somewhere to stop-over to visit Paris city centre! Situated 2.5km from the CDG airport, this 304 room hotel is perfect for families on a budget. The prices are standard for Ibis htoels, with a room costing
between 66-84 Euros (£45-56) during the week - depending on the time of year and 66 Euros (£45) at weekends. Although this
may seem quite a lot for an airport hotel, its a lot less than other hotels in the are are charging, and you have to bear in mind the demand...

Ibis Graz - where the smoke gets up your nose
Review of Ibis, Graz by
fizzytom
Advantages: Useful location for transport; clean comfortable
Disadvantages: Smoky lobby; over-priced if no offer available
...If like me you are the sort of person who prefers to stay in more moderate hotel accommodation in order to have more money to spend on things like eating out (or the purchasing of horrific souvenirs) you may be interested to know that to celebrate their 30th anniversary, some of the brands that fall under the Accor umbrella are offering a limited number of rooms at special rates this year. It does mean that you can't alter your reservation and won't qualify for a refund if you cancel but for those travellers who are willing to risk that, there are bargains to be had.
In mid-June we are going to Hanover and have booked a double room in a very central Mercure hotel for just 39 Euro per night and have just stayed in the Ibis Graz, the subject of this review, for 59 Euro for a double room, a saving of some 20 Euro based on two people...

Ibis Amsterdam Stopera
Review of Ibis Amsterdam Stopera, Amsterdam by
ikkin1981
Advantages: Great location, cheap, clean
Disadvantages: Budget hotel
...I stayed at the Ibis Stopera in Amsterdam in April 2006 with two friends and would definitely recommend it for anyone who it looking for a budget hotel that can be relied on.
For anyone who hasn't stayed in an Ibis hotel before I would describe them as a superior travelodge. In other words, no matter which one you go to, you generally know what you're getting. Always clean and a good service. There was also a bar.
For three girls on a budget the Ibis Stopera was perfect as they have triple rooms available, this made it a very reasonable rate when split between the three of us - and this included breakfast (which was very nice). We had a lovely ground floor room which looked out onto the canal at the back of the hotel.
Location#
The Ibis Stopera is in a great location, a 15 min stroll from the train station and just around...

Hotel Ibis Amsterdam Westcorner
Review of Ibis Hotel, Amsterdam by
FK123
Advantages: Location, Comfort
Disadvantages: Telephone charges, travel information, lack of some creature comforts, no breakfast included in room price
...We chose the Hotel Ibis Amsterdam Westcorner for a weekend trip to Amsterdam.
The Hotel Ibis Westcorner is located in Westpoort, to the north-west of the city centre. Because of this it probably isn't too popular with tourists who prefer central locations. However, it is very easy to get to - just take the train to Sloterdjik station, 6 minutes and one stop away from Amsterdam Centraal Station. Almost every train west from Amsterdam stops there, so you can get back late at night without any problems, and it's also relatively cheap, at under 2 Euros one-way. There is also a bus, but we didn't try it. Actually, we found the tyrain station by trial and error - when we asked the hotel staff how to get in to the centre, they didn't even mention it, and we had trouble navigating to it from the hotel, as Westpoort is a district of tall...
