...I'd never even heard of Innsbruck when I embarked on my European tour in 2002. My good friend I was travelling with was wanting to visit on account of her parents' recommendations, so I agreed and was pleasantly surprised. Innsbruck is simply one of the most beautiful places in Europe. Surrounded by the Alps on one side and the Tuxer mountain range on the other, it is quite impossible to avoid turning a corner in this small city without confronting yet another breathtaking view of snow-capped peaks. The city has a very relaxed feel, befitting a locale with only just over 100,000 inhabitants. This is never more in evidence than at the Hauptbahnhof (train station) which looks more like an outer suburb stop than a main disembarkation point. Advantages: Age, very interesting
Disadvantages: Not that much to see!

...for the crowds all looking up rather than looking where they are going! It is on the same square as the city tower, so this is a good landmark to look out for. It is right in the heart of the city, on a pedestrianised street. Everything to see in Innsbruck was pretty much within walking distance, but I did use the public transport to take me back to our campsite and it was very efficient and clean. It is located at: Herzog-Friedrich-Straße 15 In the summer the roof is open every day from 10-6 and in the winter it is closed Monday and open the rest of the week from 10-5. It costs 3.60 Euro for an adult and 1.80 Euro for concessions. It is also included on the Innsbruck card (28 Euro for 48 hours) which is well worth investing in and a bit of a bargain if you plan to see a couple of things. Advantages: Immaculate rooms, polite and courteous staff
Disadvantages: Bathroom became rather hot and damp

...Spent three nights at the Europa Tyrol, and it was a very enjoyable experience. The hotel is located opposite to the main station in Innsbruck and is only a short walk to the shops and the Golden Roof which is at the heart of the city. The hotel is actually connected to the main railway via a tunnel which offers exclusive use for guests. The rooms were immaculate, and very nicely furnished. My room had a typical Tyrolean feel which resembled a log cabin. The rooms were rather compact, however were sufficient. The bathroom was quite large and had a bath/ shower. My room however did not seem to have any ventilation in the bathroom and it did become rather damp and hot. The bedroom was air conditioned which due to the lovely weather was a godsend. The staff were all polite and would tend to every need. The bar area was clean and modern... Read review

Advantages: Too easy to fall in love with the place
Disadvantages: you have a home to go to !!

...Seefeld has to be one of the best places to be in the Austrian Tirol, it is suited best to people of any age. mobility is't a problem for people staying in Seefeld as most of it is on a good level despite being in the middle of the Mountains. You can do just about any sport you want in Seefeld from swimming to Downhill skiing, still has its Olympic Ski Jump on show, lots going on at night time with all sorts of events going on Winter and Summer. Seefeld is an ideal centre for driving or non-driving holidays there are Post bus links to other towns in the Tirol and a regula direct rail service to Innsbruck and Munich, eith Innsbruck Airport only a 2o - 30 minute road journey away.. Seefeld is superbly situated for walking tours, or travelling further afield in your car, with Bavaria only a few miles away it is possible to drive... Read review

Said, done. After appr. 2 year construction time, dirt and noise the citizen of Innsbruck received a new station. The "fun" devoured about 28 Mio. Euro. I just can dream about that much money.
