Strategy - we haven't got time for strategy..
Review of Exploring Corporate Strategy by Gerry Johnson, Kevan Scholes by  helencbradshaw

Advantages: Indispensable for the Strategy Student
Disadvantages: None

...Well, you may or may not know that I am half way through my MBA with the Open University and what that entails is an exhausting three year course which drains your resources, although it is great fun and challenging too. Anyway, it was my husband that bought me this book, on a recommendation from his MD, who has just completed his MBA with Paisley University. I am in my second year of my MBA, and my current course is imaginatively labelled B820 Strategy, obviously those folks at OU Milton Keynes were up all night thinking of that. Anyway, you get the relevance of this book and my studies. This book is marketed as Europe's best selling Strategy textbook and is published by FT Prentice Hall. What is also unique about this book is that the organisation Pearson Education also have a website www... Read review

Direct Marketing Distance Study
Review of Institute of Direct Marketing (IDM) by  Nicole78

Advantages: Intensive and very interesting
Disadvantages: Usual disadvantages of distance learning

...Hi, after my study of business administration (focus on marketing) in Germany and working in marketing for some years, I wanted to take part in some further education. The offers I found in Germany didn’t meet my expectations. So my previous boss who was English, proposed me a distance study at the IDM in England. For ½ a year I am now studying there and would like to share my experiences with you: What and who is the IDM? The IDM in Teddington is the leading international institution for Direct and Interactive Marketing. They offer different courses in marketing, communication and database – both as distance learning or local in the institute. Both a short course or a long-term study. The IDM has a very good reputation and a degree gained with them is quite often expected in job advertisements for positions in direct marketing... Read review

This little tourist went to market...
Review of Teguise Market, Lanzarote by  leofluffy69

Advantages: cheap bargains, fun day out, nice little village
Disadvantages: can get busy

...Manriques home. As mentioned previously the close proximity of the market to the Green caves and Jameos del Agua means that some tour operators will do a full day with excursions and market visit. STALLS ----------- The amount of stalls at the market can be daunting if you are visiting for the first time. It is almost impossible to have a strategy of where you want to go. There are small lanes and streets leading off one another and it is very easy to get lost. Luckily the windmill is a guide back to the car ;-) Everywhere you look you can pick up a souvenir for the family and friends back home. Most tourists go to the market for this reason alone. I managed to pick up ALL my souvenirs this year at the market. LEATHER On my first trip to the market back in 1994 I was so happy to get a lovely little leather handbag. I return every year... Professionals in Marketing - this is a must!
Review of Marketing Week by  Nicole78

Advantages: Very interesting and professional
Disadvantages: Not available everywhere

...on in the marketing industry. This may include new trends, changes in leading positions of well-known UK or international companies, results of agency pitches, new advertisings and TV Spots, new products etc.. In overall you can say that it covers a really wide range to keep you up to date with the ongoing in the industry and is a good information medium for everybody involved in marketing. It’s difficult to give you a clear structure, as this changes, so I just give you the sector headings I have in the current issue, which should be enough to give you a feeling, if the magazine is of interest of you: It starts with news covering the most actual happenings in companies. This is extended by the Digests, which gives you short news about what’s going on at the marketing side of several companies in only 1-3 sentences. News about agencies and their won... Read review

Coca-Cola Marketing Strategy
Review of Member Advice on Inkjet Cartridge Refills by  djohan

Advantages: Saves more money
Disadvantages: Makes your hands and table dirty if you're not patient - LOL

...Inkjet printers are not expensive nowadays. Having an inkjet printer is very useful to print documents, photographs, and other materials. But, when the time to change the ink cartridge comes, it makes us think things, because as I have observed that the price of a new ink cartridge equals to 1/3 of the price of the printer itself! It is the fact! As an alternative, fortunately we could buy the cartridge refills though refilling a cartridge is not recommended by printer-manufacturers. That is why, we always hear that refilling a cartridge might cause a damage on the cartridge. It is also the main reason why most ordinary inkjet printers are not expensive nowadays as the manufacturers could earn more profit from their customers’ purchasing on their ink cartridges. I am sure it is their new marketing strategy! Some New Issues... Read review

A Market Researcher on Market Research-Updated
Review of Member Advice on Market Research by  danradders

Advantages: Nothing if you do it right - plus pay and flexibility
Disadvantages: Everything if you do it wrong - plus is boring

...week to myself, and definitely daily to people in the company I work for. (Facts International Ltd. Sorry if you have been called against your will!) There is a big difference. Telesales people want your money, we just want your time and opinions. There is a list that you can register to so that you will not receive these telesales calls. The telephone preference list. This will make your number ‘outlawed’ for the likes of double-glazing salespersons. However, market research companies are exempt from this list, and so it is not illegal for us to call you. You can sue the double-glazing companies though! If you are ex-directory, the same applies! It is often that I ring someone who is ex-directory. Sorry, but this cannot be helped. Or, you can contact BT, and have it so your phone does not except anonymous calls - we do not want... Read review

Choose the International competence
Review of International & European Business by  ravanelli34

Advantages: very good!
Disadvantages: no

...on the ground, by experiments which could not be lower than one academic year (for example, possibility of being student Erasmus!). The initial experiment thus acquired accroit the pallet of employment to which all young graduate will be able to claim, and facilitates its professionelle insertion in the French and foreign companies. The stake is simple, in my opinion: to allow the graduate to be driven in European and world space as of the first employment! The market of the junior managers is, indeed, already European. In 10 years, the young German, Spanish or Italian graduate finding his employment in France, in a French company, will be probably current thing! However a true international competence is not acquired without efforts, thus, that which intends to be prevailed of an international competence must answer various... Read review

Flea Markets in Rome
Review of Flea Markets by  ashford

Advantages: It is possible to get bargains. Lively, exciting
Disadvantages: Crowded. Purse snatchers are on the prowl.

...The Eternal City of Rome is a very well known international shopping centre being especially renowned for fashion, leather goods, works of art and delightful consumables. One facet of shopping in Rome that may not be so well by overseas visitors are its flea markets. Just like London,Rome has vibrant, noisy, exuberant street markets that attract a lot of shoppers. Three well known ones include Via Sannio, Piazza Fontanella Borghese and Porta Portese. Via Sannio is open for trading six days a week-Mondays to Saturdays- and this bazaar of commerce is home to a large number of stall holders selling just about everything under the sun.Take your pick from the likes of clothing, new and second hand, and maybe third hand, leather jackets and accessories, camping equipment, kitchen equipment and old prints. Piazza Fontanella Borghese is a smart... Read review

International Relations: Sweet and Sour
Review of The United States and China - John King Fairbank by  frkurt

Advantages: Great history and insight into China and Sino-American relations
Disadvantages: A bit dated now, but historically useful

...of importance, 'The United States and China', by John King Fairbank. When I first studied political science as an undergraduate, I had completed the requirements for my primary major without having once heard a lecture or participated in a discussion of any substance on the topic of China. Perhaps this is because the prominence of the Soviet Union in the superpower relations, and most political scientists when discussing international relations preferred to focus on economic powers (Japan, Western Europe, emerging markets and resource-rich areas), or on comparative democracies, both of which do not include China. China has been, and continues to be, a mystery in most Western eyes, including those of scholars and political strategists. It has only been with the breakup of the Soviet Union that the prominence of China has been increased... Read review
