...Just watched this new show on channel five and it is good, but no where near as good as 'Freinds'. But then again I never expected it to be! It is based around the life of Joey when he moves into LA, in the same block of appartments as his sister lives in. In case you dont know Joey (who thinks expected has 2 c's!) is an actor in tv show days of lives and lets just say he isnt the brightest tool in the box!! This character is played superbly by Matt Le Blanc. Joey was in freinds and this is like a spin-off style thing! I dont get the impression that this will work as good as Freinds because friends is aimed at everyone (I dont know anyone who doesnt like friends) and joey is just one part of friends. ...Ok fist things first, Joey is a spin off of the hugely succesful and very funny Friends series. Im sure everyone has seen at least one Friends episode but just in case, it was basically about a group of 6 friends living in New York and their lifes n loves. Anyway now that bits done the review!!!! Background Basically Joey has decided to move to LA to get back on track with his career, which is acting. His sister and her son also live there and are the main supporting charcters in the series, with the nephew moving in with Joey. In the same way that Frasier was not Cheers, these spin-offs attempt to provide a new angle on a series in an attempt to not only be successful, but to broaden people's perspectives on characters. .... Joey has moved on from New York to the West coast (LA) to continue his acting career in this spin off series. The character remains the same and is joined by his sister (Drea de Matteo) and nephew (Paulo Constanzo). Without the support of the other characters in Friends the show is often sadly lacking. Sure it is worth watching once or twice but not much more. Channel 5 might have improved Sunday’s evenings by only showing the 1 show. It’s repeated again late on Monday night. UPDATE 27/02/05 : Only 1 showing of JOEY tonight (Sunday). I'm feeling more in the mood to tune in again on Sunday next. Keep in contact.... Read review

...". - Jennifer Coolidge as Bobbie (Joey's agent). Best known for being "Stifler's mom" in the "american pie" trilogy. So far, I've watched 12 episodes of the first series and this is how it goes. Finally Joey says goodbye to his friends in New York (who over the years became his family) and decides to move in with his proper family in Los Angeles in order to give a go at his career as an actor. Will he succeed? He moves in with his genius 20 years old nephew who is a graduate student. But his sister Gina, a strong and sexy hairdresser, is always around to check what they are up to. Joey is the same as who he was in "Friends" he might not be smart but he is making up for his lack of knowledge with his strong people skills. We cannot forget the famous "How you doing?". ...Having been a huge fan of friends I wasn't sure what to expect with the new series Joey. It was eagerly awaited for weeks and when the time came I sat eagerly on the sofa with bated breath. I had decided before I watched it not to compare it to Friends, which was such a huge hit, as it worked well because of the combination of characters and I wasn't sure if one out on their own would do as well. I have to say I found it quite entertaining, with Joey just the same, the character effortlessly morphing from New York to LA. I found his sister's character very irritating and his nephew a bit of a wet fish. Not slating the actors themselves just the characters they were playing. His sister was clingy and neurotic to the point where it wasn't funny and some of the jokes were overused, like the fake boobs thing. Matt Le Blanc is perfect... Read review

...I remember the night friends began, I had seen it advertised on commercials, I thought it looked like it was going to be a bit of a laugh and that it would be well worth watching. There are 6 main characters, the Live in New York and they usually hang out at the coffee house, better known as "Central Perk": The girls: Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston) in the beginning she is a waitress (in Central Perk) …. She goes on to work at Bloomindales (her fave store) then on to Ralph Lauren Monica Gellar (Courtney Cox) a chef Pheobe Bouffé (Lisa Kudrow) a massues The guys: Joey Tribiané (Matt le Blanc) an "out of work" actor Chandler Bing (Mathew Perry) an accountant (I think) Ross Gellar (David Shwimmer) a Scientist, he works at the museum (he's a "dinosaur guy") The Storyline …. ...more recently has fallen in love with Joey and become a little more responsible. He lives with his brother, Doug who is a policeman. JEN She used to live in New York with her parents but came to Capeside to try to sort her life out, she lives with her Grandma. JACK He lives with his father and is gay, he came to Capeside more recently with his sister and was once going out with Joey. ANDIE She is Jack’s sister and has had mental problems, she is very good student and once went out with Pacey. Now the characters are explained it would be pointless to go through all of the adventures that they have had! So I would recommend you to watch it. It is a very emotive program and there is always something of interest going on although they can go over the top. It does have some very good songs also.... Read review

...Friends is such a good sitcom that it is almost unreal. I mean, could this be the best sitcom slash comedy ever? Chandler, Monica, Joey, Phoebe, Ross and Rachel star amongst other characters as best friends living in two apartments in an apartment building in New York. Their main hangout is Central Perk coffee house and a lot seems to happen here! Every series seems to be improving, and since they began to show the sixth series on television it has improved even more. The series is packed with humour and sarcasm (mainly on Chandler's behalf) and is good for teens but maybe not family viewing.... Read review
