REAL HISTORICAL GOLF - HICKORY CLUBS AND ALL
Review of Musselburgh Old Course Golf Links by
Scotslady
Advantages: So much history surrounding it
Disadvantages: Lack of catering facilities attached to the course but plenty in the vicinity
...).
It has had several prestigious Golf Clubs surrounding and attached to it over the years who have moved on to their own courses -ie, The Royal Musselburgh (1774-1925), The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers (1836-1891), Royal Burgess Golfing Society (1874-1895) and Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society(1875-1895)to name a few.
Many historical open champions played on this course too – ie, Wullie Park Senior, Wullie Park Junior, David (Deacon) Brown, Mungo Park, Bob Ferguson and Jamie Anderson to name a few. The first ever Ladies open was held here in 1811 for the fisherwives of Musselburgh who competed for a Creel and Skull and 2 Barcelona Silk Handkerchiefs. The Ladies open here has only recently been revived and although its not a Creel and Skull now, the silk handkerchiefs are still part of the prize to maintain its historical...

How to get into golf and tips for golfers
Review of Member Advice on Golf by
Matty_P
Advantages: Great Sport, Fun, For All Ages
Disadvantages: None
...this step, but to complete the process you should seek membership at a golf club after playing your new course a few times with friends I would recommend you try get a handicap the maximum handicap for men is 28, ladies 36 and Juniors under 15 36. A handicap is what you take off your score when you finish your round of golf for example if your handicap is 28 and you have a score of 100 you take 28 off 100 and get 72 this will be your nett score, usually the lowest nett score will win the competition. You can now start to improve your set of golf equipment, you will quickly learn which the best brands of golf equipment are, and you can sell your old clubs in eBay to raise funds for your new ones.

Chelsfield Lakes Golf Club
Review of Chelsfield Lakes Golf Club by
brereton66
Advantages: Challenging but accessible course for mid handicappers
Disadvantages: Not hard enough for better players and not the best course in the area
...Chelsfield Lakes Golf Club
'A good walk spoiled' is how one man once described golf but he was obviously a fool as there are few better ways to pass the time than by playing this most majestic of sports. In my part of the world we are spoilt for choice when it comes to courses and there are ones to suit all standards and pockets.
Chelsfield Lakes is a pleasant pay and play course that will satisfy most golfers from beginners to good players. Very low handicappers may not find it enough of a challenge but for us mere mortals it has more than enough to keep us interested without ruining our confidence.
The lakes of the title is bit misleading as there are only two on the course. One is far to the left of the 16th and doesn't come into play but the other is large and runs between the 9th and 18th fairways and most definitely comes...

Niddry Castle Golf Club - a 9 hole challenge
Review of Niddry Castle Golf Club, Winchburgh by
Scotslady
Advantages: Interesting, challenging, cheap.
Disadvantages: None
...Niddry Castle Golf Club is a 9 hole course at Castle Road, Winchburgh, West Lothian, which is approximately 10 miles from the centre of Edinburgh and 45 miles from Glasgow. It is a parkland course playing around Niddry Castle with an 18 Hole length of 5518yds (Par 70)(4612yds Par 68 Ladies). It is fairly tight in places with water coming into play on 5 of the 9 holes. Another 9 holes are currently being built with a completion date of Spring 2003.
Niddry Castle itself dates from 1490 and it is known that Mary Queen of Scots sought refuge there in 1568. It is not an attractive building but it has recently been restored as a private residence and is not open to the public.
The golf course dates from around the time of the Second World War but lay dormant until the present club were formed in 1983.
1st. Par 3 (204yds: 172...

Boat of Garten Golf Club
Review of Boat of Garten Golf CLub by
Nickmanfish
Advantages: Stunning scenery, Not too long
Disadvantages: Narrow tree-lined fairways, Irons must be accurate
...Boat of Garten truely is one of Scotlands hidden gems, and without doubt deserves to be recognised as the finest Highlands course.
Starting out, the golfer is not too enthralled by the first hole, which is an unremarkable par-3. But from the second hole onwards, one becomes aware of the majesty of 'The Boat'.
The second has a lovely meandering fairway leading to a wide green, and a drive to the left handside of the fairway offers the best chance of getting the ball close.
The third hole is a tricky par-3 with danger both short and long. Under club and you will be hacking out of heavy gorse, over club and you will be down near the tracks of the delightful steam train that runs alongside the first 4 holes.
The fourth is a genuine par-5, with large humps that will hide the path to the green. Stay left to get the best approach...

S club Juniors
Review of S Club 7 by
spoilt_little_br
Advantages: r there any!
Disadvantages: c op
...Let me set a scene for you; a busy studio at the BBC, full of professionals bustling around filming the famous end of week show, Top Of The Pops, and then on the set comes a group of eight “Children”, just out of nappies with an average age of twelve. They gyrate provocatively under the strong studio light, and sing their debut single. The five girls, the youngest being eleven, are plastered in grown-up’s make up, dance suggestively just like an ex-spice girl, strutting their stuff next to three tiny boys who are the imitation of westlife.
Yes, this is the new, and some say ugly, chart creation “S Club Juniors”, a hand off from their elders, “S Club”. They dance sexily, sing about love and wear slick make-up. Their age range is 11-14 and it’s worth asking, is this pop’s lowest...

There's something lovely about golf balls.
Review of Titleist Pinnacle Gold Golf Balls by
ps2gamer890
Advantages: Good feel, Shiny, bounces well, good value for money
Disadvantages: Being a golf ball - none really...
...Golf, the sport traditionally favoured by Upper Class toffs, overweight American businessmen and any other Industrial Fat Cat who comes my way, is a strict pompous sport, with strict, pompous rules.
Jeremy Clarkson's view of golfers:
"A misogynist who cares more about his trousers than his wife"
And it's not just the married or old ones either. Show ME a Junior Golfer, as they most likely call them, and I'll show you a pansy with neatly combed hair and a father with a new BMW 5-series.
I came across one just today ,in fact, pulled out a Golf ball, and asked him, in my jovial "old wag" sort of tone: "Is this ball an expensive one?" He took a quick, dismissive sort of look and replied: "Oh no, that's a rubbish cheap one. The best golf ball is a Maxfli M3Z4' (or something of that nature).
It's a sad, sad world when our golf...
