Jupiter's Fine By Me
Review of Jupiter European Fund by  petehall

Advantages: Excellent management, very good performance.
Disadvantages: Now a fairly large fund.

...At just over a billion pounds, this fund is three times the size of the average for the sector but only a third of the size of the largest in the sector. With 225% growth over 5 years and 525% over 10 years it has outperformed the sector average by a factor of 1.5. Richard Pease's management has kept this fund in the first quartile for most of the last eight years, not returning less than 15% annual growth since 1992. It currently forms a small but growing part of my portfolio, with my main European funds being T.U. European and Invesco GT European Growth. Jupiter have an extremely good reputation and, (according to the Jupiter Report from Hargreaves Lansdown) despite recent occurrences, their managers have been secured for the foreseeable future, and are not expected to defect to anything set up by John Duffield, Jupiter's former... A Fund With A Prosperous Future
Review of Jupiter European Special Situations Fund by  petehall

Advantages: Young, small and flexible. Superb but brief historic performance.
Disadvantages: Little movement in price for several months.

...Jupiter European Special Situations fund was set up less than two years ago and has already seen growth of 140%. Virtually all of that growth was made in the first year but what sets this fund apart from many others, is that it has held on to those gains through what has been one of the most volatile years for shares around the world. Even though the Euro has slipped in value by 30% or so, over the last year, the fund has maintained its value in Sterling terms. When the Euro recovers, as we are led to believe it will, this will be translated into a 30% gain. I bought into this one in January of this year and have no qualms whatsoever about holding. The fund size currently stands at about £140 million, which is miniscule for a European fund. This means it is flexible and can react much more quickly to changes in trends... Read review

Jupiter - Out of this World.
Review of Jupiter - Ben Bova by  Maximus-Qualitus

Advantages: Great Read.
Disadvantages: None

...Jupiter. Author - Ben Bova. Jupiter is set 100 years after his Mars and Venus novels. The book has a distinctive religious undertone. One society is the 'New Morality' which requires citizens to give up a few years of their lives to "Service" within the 'new morality'. With any religious movement they dislike and mistrust any Scientists and their works. Synopsis: Our hero of the story is Grant Archer, A student studying Black Holes. Grant is sent to spend his "Service" time at a research station named Gold, which is orbiting Jupiter. His mission is to spy on the scientists and report back any deviant behaviour. Grant himself will grows a as person as he realises he is not the centre of the universe and this is well written. However the station director, Dr wo takes a shine to grant and a friendship is struck up. So much so... Read review

The European Constitution - not what Europe needs
Review of Should the UK ratify the European Convention by  lobourse

Advantages: Political symbolism, being a fully paid-up EU member
Disadvantages: Too inflexible, backward-looking, bureaucratic and doesn't answer the EU's problems

...In December 2001, when the Heads of the governments (and applicant countries) issued the Laeken Declaration, their stated aim was to bring the EU closer to the people and re-connect the EU project with an increasingly hostile and/or indifferent public. From this declaration came the European Convention, chaired by former French President, Valerie Giscard d'Estaing, which drew up a draft Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe, which was duly amended and signed by the Heads of Government in 2004. Did the Treaty which emerged meet the challenge to re-connect with the European Public? Should the UK sign up to it, since we have been promised a referendum? What are the changes made by the Constitution? 1) It simplifes the existing Treaty structure, by bringing everything under one document. It also changes the names... Read review

Medal of honor - European Assault, X-BOX-PS2
Review of Medal of Honour - European Assault (X-Box) by  jamesdaviesmv7557

Advantages: great Graphics, Quite challenging
Disadvantages: Not as good as some other medal of honor titles

...In medal of honor European Assault for the first time in the long running Medal of honor series you can command other allied soldiers. This is a nice change and only adds to the game giving it more interactivity and makes it more realistic and enjoyable. Although i really enjoyed this title i found it not to be as good as other Medal of honor titles such as " Allied Assualt ". Even though Eurorean Assualt is a newer game the graphics are not really improved and i think the only reason the producers of this game are giving you the option of commanding other soldiers is an attempt to fight back at the ever increasing competition in WW2 games. 2good features that are new are the shellshock and the adrenelin the shellshock is not a positive aspect but makes it a little more realistic when a near by explosion takes place you... jersey european airways
Review of Jersey European Airways - JEA by  mouse1

Advantages: reliable and friendly
Disadvantages: perhaps they should fly more frequently

...i am a resident channel islander and hence rely upon jersey european to get to and from the mainland. from the age of 8, i travelled weekly to school and in doing so used jersey european. one of the first things that struck me about the airline was their friendliness and willingness to help a petrified young boy who had never flown before. furthermore, the ease with which they dealt with any problems was phenomenol and their care goes beyond their line of duty. once i was stuck in gatwick fogbound and jersey european airways put me up for the night at the hotel where the crew was staying. jersey european offers an unmatched service to and from the channel islands and i would suggest that anyone who visits the islands should fly with them... Medal of Honor; European Review
Review of Medal of Honour - European Assault (X-Box) by  Halo92

Advantages: Great sound, great game in general
Disadvantages: Graohics need tweaking, too short.

...Meadl of Honor; European assault is a great game for a number of reasons. First, all the levels you play through more or less happened in WWII. This enhances the realistic effect, and puts players in the position a soldier might have been in. Second, it's realistic. hugely realistic. Ok, sure, you get the health pickups, instant medikits, a handy adrenalin rush that makes you invincable, but those are what you'd expect from any game, and you can change most of those things in game anyway. I'll start with the basics. Graphics. The graphics in this game aren't that bad, on the basis that you are too busy blowing Germans' heads off to notice. When you look closer, you see that the guy you're chucking grenades at is slightly "boxey," the ridges on that fuel tank aren't quite rounded enough etc, but, overlooking those small details... Discover the best of European cinema
Review of Cinema 16 - European Short Films DVD by  gantzgraf

Advantages: A fantastic collection of shorts.
Disadvantages: None.

...Cinema16 is a fantastic compilation of European short films, giving you a glimpse at some of the most undervalued cinematographic handiworks, many who were crafted by some of the leading voices of modern cinema, such as Danish director Lars Von Trier, the controversial English comedian Chris Morris, and even the madcap French director, behind the infamous Dobermann (1999-2000), Jan Kounen. The funny thing about the Cinema16 DVD is that there is no rating to be found on the box; especially funny when you consider the strictness of the BBFC, and also, it's occasionally ridiculous ratings (for example, Rosemary's Baby being rated 18 - pathetic). Cinema16 could be considered a "certified 15" in my opinion. Individually, the short lengths vary between 8 and 20 minutes, frequently between 10 and 15 minutes, bringing the whole 16 shorts... Your money or your copy of cossacks european wars!
Review of Cossacks European Wars Complete package by  helpa4eva

Advantages: Large scale, realistic, range of strategic formations.
Disadvantages: Graphics and resource gathering have not been very well worked out

...Cossacks: European wars is a strategy/war genre game based on battles in and around Europe. You can have TONS of different battles, from a small skirimish with a few raiding British dragoons fighting against a squad of French pikeman, to an enourmous civil war, nearly every country in Europe pitting their armies of cannons, cavalry, and infantry against each others blood-bating armies. It is easy to get started on the game, as there is a quiteimpressive, and very informative 51 page manual, informing you on the game interface, controls, the setup and how to play online against others armies. There are a few campaigns, some of which are very difficult, and will test even the experienced gamer to his limits. But for those new to the strategy gaming world, or indeed the gaming world as a whole, there is an option to change the speed... Read review

The School of Slavonic and East European Studies
Review of Slavonic and East European Studies by  Adereterial

Advantages: Full resources for regional study
Disadvantages: It's in London!

...Again, Ciao have this in the wrong section, even though I had to ask for this to be included! The school of Slavonic and East European Studies (hereafter SSEES) is not part of UCL's faculty of Humanities and Social Studies, but a separate, self contained department with it's own library, building, tutors, facilities, Student's Union and representatives. It is responsible for the teaching and research into the areas covered by the former Soviet Union, Balkans, Baltic, East Central Europe and South East Asia. It covers the following subject areas: History, Culture, Languages, Anthropology, Languages, Foreign relations and current events in most of the countries of the area. Currently SSEES is located within Senate House, the same building as the University of London and it's huge library, of which it was a part until it merged... Read review
