...The JW Marriott, Mirage City, Cairo is something more than a mirage. As we approached, two giant sandstone pillars loom to one side, replicas of ancient Egyptian construction, and I thought, "this could either be very tacky or very impressive". Well, I was very impressed by the hotel, the facilities, the design, but unfortunately the overall experience was a bit disappointing. Atleast, it was when I stayed there late in 2003. Sprawling around several swimming pools, a wave pool, an 18 hole golf course and half a dozen tennis courts, it is more than just a hotel. The clubhouse, a two minute walk from the hotel, offers gym and sauna facilities, a pro golf shop, gold driving range and a large bar with pool tables (put to good use during our stay!) I have stayed in many Marriott’s throughout the UK, Europe and also in the USA and have always found them to be a good standard of hotel providing excellent facilities, accommodation and courteous staff. There are different types and standards of Marriott hotel including Marriott marquis which are the crème de la crème of the chain as well as the cheaper and more cost effective Marriott Courtyard brand in addition to the Renaissance brand and Marriott time share opportunities. ...Another Marriott review from me I am afraid as just returned form the Marriott Glasgow Hotel on business! It was the first time that I have stayed at this particular Marriott hotel but again I was very impressed by the standard of the hotel, rooms, staff and cleanliness. Some people have said that these hotels are expensive compared with other brands but I think that it is worth paying a littel bit more as with Marriott you always get excellent, comfortbale hotels with very good staff who always go that extra mile to hepl guests to feel at home. This is not the nicest looking Marriott from the outisde as it is a bit of a 70s building but it's much better once you get inside! Location: The hotel is very easy to get to by car and is just a few minutes drive off the M8 motorway. It then only takes about 5 or 10 minutes to walk... Read review

The 62nd installment of Worldcon (aka Noreascon 4) was held at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston in September 2004. Earlier in the year, our convention committee presented a choice of two hotels, Sheraton Boston and Marriott Copley Place. Before booking, I dashed an email off to the concom, asking whether either of them was haunted. I hit the jackpot at the Royal York in Toronto the previous year, maybe I would this one as well. I was told neither had ghosts. It was discouraging, but when attending a Worldcon, staying at one of its hotels is part of the atmosphere. ...~~~HAMBURG MARRIOTT HOTEL~~~ As well as having stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in Hamburg several times, I have also stayed at the Renaissance sister hotel, the Marriott, located on ABC Strasse in the exclusive shopping and dining part of the city of Hamburg. The hotel is well located and transfer time from the airport (Hamburg) is under 20 minutes or so with taxi fares also being under 20Euros (£13-£15). Just outside o f the hotel you will find a glittering array of upmarket shops and small boutiques and the hotel is located in a very quiet area and all of the rooms are exceptionally quiet. Arriving at the hotel: As you enter the hotel, the lobby is sumptuous and well-kept, and there are always plenty of bellhops to help with your bags. ...Marriott must be absolutely mad! Slough not only sounds disgusting, it even has a poem written about it. In 1937, Sir John Betjeman wrote famously wrote: "Come friendly bombs and fall on Slough! It isn't fit for humans now, There isn't grass to graze a cow. Swarm over, Death!" And many more lines ensue; you get the picture, I'm sure! The first paragraph sets the scene, anyway, for this new town adjacent to London's Heathrow airport. Holiday destination it ain't! And yet Marriott call this hotel "Marriott Slough / Windsor". Why not settle for Windsor (which, with its imposing castle and idyllic location on the river Thames, is lovely)? In the AA hotel guide, you won't find this hotel listed under Slough - nor under Windsor. Nope - look under Heathrow Airport and you'll find it there, just adjacent to junction 5 of the M4... ...About the hotel: The Berlin Marriott hotel is a brand new hotel that was opened in 2004 and is located in the Potsdamer Platz in the former eastern side of the city of Berlin. This is a thriving and upcoming part of the new city that offers brand new buildings and modern facilities juxtaposed against remnants of pre-1990s Germany. The hotel offers many of the features of a 4/5-star American chain hotel and would appropriately suit business or leisure travellers and families travelling to Berlin. The hotel is well located and is approximately 11km from Tegel airport, with a taxi ride taking around 20 minutes and the fare costing approximately 18 euros. The nearest U-bahn (underground station) is only 2 minutes away by foot, and the hotel is within close proximity to Checkpoint Charlie, Potsdamer Platz, and the Brandenburg gate... Read review

...& dring, there's firstly the "Lobby Bar" that's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and you can pick up a fresh Costa Coffee or sandwiches throughout the day (I had a nice three cheese panini). Also, "Mendelssohns Restaurant " is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast here was very nice, and the staff were very helpful. Thirdly, "Players Restaurant" (didn't sample this one) is round the back of the hotel and offers "fine cuisine in vibrant surroundings. A destination restaurant popular in the local area"... There is, of course, a full room service menu (I can rarely resist a "Marriott Burger") that is quickly delivered, with a smile and £2.50 "tray charge". There's wifi in the public areas & rooms, so I could check my email (and Ciao, of course) This is a nice, and increasingly frequent service in lots of hotels and I like... Read review

...About the hotel: The Leeds Marriott is owned and operated by the Marriott international chain of hotels. Location: The hotel is located in the city centre very close to the main attraction. Less than five minutes walk away is the main shopping street which features a House of Fraser department store as well as Harvey Nicholls. There is also a large branch of Marks and Spencer as well as the usual range of high street shops such as Topshop, The centre of Leeds has a great variety of shops and places of entertainment's. There are a great variety of bars and nightclubs and it is a great choice for a weekend away of sigh seeing and shopping.
