King Kong Beat Music to Words in Review!!!
Review of King Kong - Various Artists by
berlioz
Advantages: Really impressive action adventure score, one of the best of 2005
Disadvantages: Some action scenes a little unremarkable
...INTRODUCTION
After tackling with the giant undertaking of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and garnering so much critical and popular (as well as Oscar) success, director Peter Jackson had things pretty sweetly in his pocket, allowing him to basically do what ever he wanted. So with the studios more than willing to let Jackson have free reign over what to do next, he went in a completely different direction from the literary fantasy genre to a cinematic icon: King Kong. King Kong is of course one of the most famous movies ever made, involving a big ape being transported to New York from an obscure island as a spectacular new exibition only to escape, wreack havoc on the city, kidnap the pretty female lead, and climb to the top of the Empire State Building only to be fall down with a big thump.
Made in 1933, the film was a huge...

King Kong 2005 - The Things We Do For Love
Review of KING KONG (2005) by
arnoldhenryrufus
Advantages: Wonderful Special Effects, tension and mood music in just the right spots.
Disadvantages: A bit long at just over 3hrs long
...KING KONG (2005)
This was my first movie review, if you have never seen a version of King Kong before, I will apologise now if I have given too much away. Wish me luck and I hope you enjoy the review. This is a review on the 2005 version.
As you may all be aware by now this is a remake of the 1933 classic movie, I cried at the original, and I cried buckets at this version.
The Characters:
It started off I felt, a little slow, but then I realised it is just setting the scene, for you to get know the characters.
Ann Darrow, an out of work vaudeville actress, blonde slim and pretty (gosh I hate her, only joking), she is played by Naomi Watts. Well, she grew on me, she is virtually the star of the show and a very good actress, she played her part really well, you could see from the expressions on her face, the love she...

King Kong the Official Game of the Movie
Review of King Kong (Xbox 360) by
Bullwick
Advantages: Nice graphics, Solid gameplay, Unique..
Disadvantages: Short, Not much replay value.
...King Kong the Official Game of the Movie….. Phew said it without passing out, is based on, well you guessed it King Kong the Movie. It won't take you long to get through King Kong, but its sometimes thrilling, often tense, and always entertaining adventure and is well worth checking out.
Gameplay:
King Kong has a unique interface, there are no health bars, no writing what so ever. This helps the game to emerge the player into the experience and it does it very well. When you are playing as man you have two types of weapons, guns or spears. When you are walking around you will only have a limited amount of ammunition for your guns, so you need to start using spears, these are found in various places around the island and are very easy to use, you basically pick one up and chuck it at whatever is after you, it is very rewarding when...

Modern day kong
Review of King Kong, Peter Jackson by
The12thman278
Advantages: Modern day remake
Disadvantages: Slight character change from the original
...in the general direction of the roars. With John Garfield leveling off a Tommy gun and Knox realizing he's a novel of the lifetime playing out before him.
One could criticize Peter Jackson's KING KONG for a million things that it isn't, but that would be to entirely miss the point of what it is. This is a full exploration of what PETER JACKSON saw and wanted to explore in the original film - and to bring out. The mad insane crazed bits of action. The train wreck of brontosauri, it's unlikely, horrible and sad. Looking at that broken tonnage of flesh, I couldn't help but think about the various predators on this island that would feast for weeks upon this humbled herd of broken sauropods… the long necked creatures belching out their tortured agony, writhing about trying to walk upon their broken limbs - we don't linger, but my mind did.
The V...

Entertaining King Kong remake - but too long
Review of King Kong (Special Edition) by
bigmike33
Advantages: Great special effects - particularly Kong
Disadvantages: Overlong
...The original 1933 King Kong movie is still one of the greatest fantasy films of all time, with the mixture of great imagery, camerawork and acting making it an unmissable film, particularly with Fay Wray as the pretty Ann Darrow, who falls into the clutches of Kong. It is a gripping film that can still thrill people today, even if it is over 70 years old. When it was announced that a remake of this timeless classic was to be made, with Lord Of The Rings maestro Peter Jackson at the helm, I was excited and apprehensive at the same time. Obviously the special effects would be much better than both the 1933 and 1976 versions, but I was worried that the story would not be as well executed as in the black and white version. I also wasn't sure if Naomi Watts would play the role of Ann Darrow as well as Fay Wray, or if Jack Black could pull...

King of Kong
Review of King Kong, Peter Jackson by
blackman007
Advantages: The performances, the direction and the CGI
Disadvantages: Too long!
...King Kong (2005)
Peter Jackson is now one of the true masters behind the rolling cameras and boy does he deserve every accolade going. Over the last few years he has dominated the cinema winter box office with the Lord of the Rings trilogy and now he is aiming to do the same with his re-telling of the legend that is King Kong, the eighth wonder of the world!
Ann Darrow as a struggling performer finds herself out of work. Unable to find employment and struggling to survive she finds herself in dire straits but a proposition from an ambitious but slightly dodgy filmmaker Carl Denham opens up a window of opportunity for an experience and journey of a lifetime. Some of the unwitting participants on this adventure are scriptwriter Jack Driscoll and dashing actor Bruce Baxter. On their way to where they think is Singapore; Denham...

How Ace is King Kong...
Review of Monkey Kong - A by
ia_young
Advantages: quality original tracks
Disadvantages: none
...‘A’ vs Monkey Kong is the second studio album from this London five-piece band released in 1999 through London Record. Their sound is a kind of punk rock with samples mixed into the music. This makes for a very original sound and it should make ‘A’ extremely big. The band consists of the following members (three of them brothers, guess who!):
Jason Perry – Vocals
Giles Perry – Keyboards & backing vocals
Adam Perry – Drums/Yin’s
Mark Chapman - Guitars
Daniel P. Carter - Bass, backing vocals/shouting!
King Kong inspired the album name and cover, King Kong’s original name was meant to be Monkey Kong. The album cover is a picture of a Gibbon in red against a black background and is quite striking. Through the inlay there are various tributes to the King Kong films...

King Kong
Review of King Kong DVD by
Ayesha-
Advantages: Excellent graphics, some good acting
Disadvantages: Old news, some not-so-good acting
...Having seen this film being advertised to come on television recently, I could not pass on the opportunity to watch it. I had missed the chance to see it at the cinema, but as some of you will know, our screen is just about big enough to make the film experience special. I had heard a lot about this film when it was released. While the story was well known, the advertisements had given me the impression it would still be an amazing film. The graphics already looked quite good, but that alone is never enough. I know that a number of my friends had seen it and been quite disappointed, wondering what all the fuss was about. Perhaps it had been overrated, but I still wanted the chance to see it for myself, so I could decide.
Story
To be honest, it's a shame if it takes this review for you to know the story of King Kong, but I...

Return of the King (Kong)
Review of King Kong (Special Edition) by
PriyanPhoenix
Advantages: The most human Kong with phenomenal special effects
Disadvantages: overlong: opening act starts to drag and New York scenes feel sterile
...director: Peter Jackson
starring: Naomi Watts, Jack Black, Adrien Brody
running time: 187 mins
rating: 12A
In completing King Kong Jackson both fulfilled a childhood dream and showed just how valuable a well-timed remake can be, even if the original is as iconic a masterpiece as this. Another combination of Andy Serkis' acting skills with Weta technology, we are granted an utterly real Kong, visually rather than just by drawing us into the fantasy world as with the previous films.
We follow struggling actress Ann Darrow [Naomi Watts] as she meets the untrustworthy filmmaker Carl Denham [Jack Black]. Pursued by creditors, he hires her as the lead for his picture, setting sail for the undiscovered Skull Island by following a map he has received. Scriptwriter Jack Driscoll [Adrien Brody] has also been tricked into joining them...

King Kong, THE NEW DVD
Review of King Kong DVD by
CFC4EVER
Advantages: Fantastic action scenes and special effects
Disadvantages: Some missing bits
...“King Kong” is a great DVD, aimed at all ages 12 and over. It is an amazing film to watch for anyone who watches it, but can be scary at moments. There are lots of scenes in King Kong that can be funny and hilarious (seeing King Kong, the giant ape, jumping through the sky, demolishing everything in its way,) but at the same time it also achieves terrible horror, seeing King Kong destroying and rampaging through towns and streets, destroying everything and anything. It never gets boring—Kong’s dramatic style and episodes makes every part of the film intriguing and exciting.
Kong is a huge giant ape. He rampages through cities destroying everything in his path. He is very tall, wide and looks menacing. He wipes the tops off houses and brings aeroplanes down to the ground in anger. He is a man-eating beast, making the movie what it is...
