Reviews of kings hotel london
Don't believe the horror stories
Review of Getting around in London generally by
Chaotic1
Advantages: See london in safety and confort
Disadvantages: Rush hour can be a drag
...This year I went to London on holiday. Having heard the chilling tales of taxi drivers leaning out of windows to shout at other drivers while taking sharp corners at high speed, I was a little apprehensive when I got into the taxi outside King's Cross Station. My fears were quickly neutralised when we arrived at our hotel without incident. I actually enjoyed the trip back to the station when it was time to leave. Our driver was a South African young man who was polite, talkative and friendly. As for the prices, they go up in relation with the cost of everything else in London. Food, housing, hotels, car parking, trains, they all cost a lot more, in some cases 100% extra, than their equivalents north of the border....

Great accommodation
Review of St.Pancras YHA, London by
angel1987
Advantages: discounts on tickets
Disadvantages: none
...I travlled form Edinburgh it was a 4hour journey. I had heard about the Youth Hostel from Now Magazine they had given a book out free and so I was wanting to find somewhere to stay for my London trip so I went on the site www.yha.co.uk the hostels are in different spots of London. I stayed in this one because I wanted it to be near Kings Cross Station. The hostel is right on Euston Road on the site you get directions. The rooms are gorgeous just like a hotel and cheaper. There are lights on it and in my room I had an en suite bathroom. The breakfast is nice if you decide to have it, just an english breakfast. The friendly atmposphere helps , what I found good is that if you want to visit places like 'Madame Tussauds' you can get tickets downstairs with a discount and it saves you waiting in a queue. Another thing which is handy...

Very detailed!!!!
Review of Museum of London (London) by
SouthStar
Advantages: Alot of information and archilogical fiddings displayed.
Disadvantages: Not much more than that.
...The Museum of London explains how London was first built and the events that happened during the centurys. I would go here if you are a tourist interested in fiding the history of London. It goes from the Romans to the Saxons,Vikings,Fire of London to the English Kings and Queens. This is definetly a A* museum. Although they could improve the museum by adding more events in which the customers could really understand the events in which they were learning about. Overall I recommend it to students who did to know detailed knowledge of London....

London in Bits and Bobs
Review of London (England) by
BawBaw
Advantages: One of the world's great cosmopolitan centers
Disadvantages: So much city . . . so little time
...and pasties offered by local shops, and the excitement of discovery just around the next corner.
Creating an Agenda
For any visit to London, choose the objectives of your visit carefully, but be sure to leave opportunities for a bit of spontaneity. For initial visits to this treasure trove of the human experience, go for the obvious--and remember that standard tourist attractions become standard because they offer a high level of satisfaction in return for time invested. As with other great cities, however, the offerings are so numerous that it's wise to cull out you favorites ahead of time.
For Himself and Yours Truly, our first trip through London left us with only a late afternoon and an evening to explore London. From our hotel near Heathrow, we took the Tube into the central city, then hired a cab...

A diamond in the rough.
Review of Holiday Inn London - Kings Cross / Bloomsbury, London by
eduardob
Advantages: Location, cost, facilities.
Disadvantages: Immediate area is twin towned with Beirut
...I have stayed here several times in the last 5 years. Forget that it is in a bad area, when you are inside, you could be anywhere.
The Holiday Inn, Kings Cross, is a proper four star hotel. The concierge service is excellent, especially for tourists looking for guidance on how to get around and see the sights. The rooms are well proportioned and very reasonably priced (for even better value, go to www.sixcontinentshotels.com/sixcontinentshotels, where you can register for their priority rewards scheme and get the rooms dirt cheap).
Okay, so you may get no view at all, or a great view of a huge Royal Mail depot next door, but in London you have to expect a certain amount of awfulness.
The point is that this is 10 minutes walk from Kings Cross station, and not much further from St Pancras. From Euston station, you could walk but I...

Fantastic hotel, shame about its surroundings
Review of Holiday Inn London - Kings Cross / Bloomsbury, London by
lorajane
Advantages: Beautifully presented, very welcoming
Disadvantages: Feels a bit rough in the surrounding area
...to communicate in various languages to foreign visitors. This is always a very welcoming sign.
As for breakfast: It was just like any other hotel. Continental or cooked. A good selection along with hot and cold drinks etc. As expected. Fills you up ready for the day ahead.
I feel I must comment on the surrounding area. Although the hotel is named London King Cross, do not be fooled. The walk is a lot further than you would imagine and not through the nicest of areas. As a young woman travelling alone I felt quite uneasy even though it was broad daylight. I also felt I could not leave the hotel after dark as the area was rather rough. I would say that this hotel is excellent for anyone travelling on business or who knows London. For tourists, however, there are many more hotel situated in nicer areas closer to the attractions. If you do decide...

London : The Site for Movies
Review of London (England) by
ashford
Advantages: Vibrant cosmopolitan city. Lots of celebrities to see
Disadvantages: Expensive
...in the shooting.
The Madness of King George, which starred Helen Mirren and Nigel Hawthorne, dealt with the kindly King George who was ill and his mental instability led to intrigue in the royal court. Scenes were shot at Syon House, Brentford, St. Paul's Cathedral and in the Painted Hall at the Royal Naval College, Greenwich.
Monica Potter, Rufus Sewell, Tom Hollander and Joseph Fiennes all starred in the 1999 movie, Martha - Meet Frank, Daniel and Laurence. This thoroughly charming British comedy was set in London and sites used included Blakes Hotel, Roland Gardens, the Livebait seafood restaurant and the Battersea Park Café.
The widely acclaimed movie, Mrs Brown, which dealt with the quite extraordinary relationship between the then world's most powerful woman, Queen Victoria, and John Brown, a simple but very loyal Scottish Highlander starred...

Good discounts at hotels in London
Review of london-discount-hotel.com by
starmaven
Advantages: Good special offers, easy to book hotels
Disadvantages: More hotel details needed
...It was very easy to book a luxury hotel in London on this site.
They have more than 100 hotels that you can view and book online ranging from Best Western, Comfort Inn, Hilton, Express by Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn and also many independently owned budget hotels. They offer accommodation in Central London ranging from low-cost privately owned guest houses to five star global chains.
Most are located close to major London attractions like the Covent Garden theatres, Madame Tussauds, Tower of London and are perfectly situated near Oxford Street, Harrods, Knightsbridge and Kensington for shopping.
The rates are much below published rack rates and include local taxes, service and breakfast.
We needed two rooms next to each other and the kind people at London Discount Hotel.com were really friendly and helpful. They contacted the hotel...

Great modern 5* London hotel
Review of Grange City Hotel, London by
cdmitchell
Advantages: Location, modern facilities, "Wellness Centre" - pool, spa, sauna, steam room
Disadvantages: No view from the room
...My wife and I stayed at the Grange City Hotel over the most recent bank holiday weekend. Having stayed in many London hotels that have tiny rooms and feel fairly overpriced, I was pleasantly surprised with the Grange City Hotel.
The room was fantastic, and huge! The king size bed, desk, radio, tv with local channels, business channels as well as several sports and foreign language channels, and the option of internet and pay movies. Each room has a safe, iron, and tea and coffee making facilites. The minibar was even computerised! (be careful you don't touch anything unless you want to pay for it!)
The bathroom was immense, modern, and had a large bath and a separate shower.
Our room was supposed to come with 2 monogramed bathrobes, although they weren't there when we arrived. The friendly staff of the Grange ensured that we had...

Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves - and me
Review of London in general by
HappyBunny
Advantages: Eccentrics; Variety; Culture
Disadvantages: Can be a lonely city to live in; Money; Money; Money
....
An expensive city? Na, you just need to know the right places and the right people…
Smoothound.co.uk is my number one fan for accommodation in London when I’m there visiting with other people (on my own, my favourite hotel is Chez Dunne, a lovely place that my friend insists is not a hotel as she serves me my breakfast on a Sunday morning – after the 6th game of Trivial Pursuit!).
I have found two very good hotels on this site…well, one that I’ve stayed in and one that I will be staying in next week. The one I stayed in when I visited in February was in King’s Cross (in fact a 2-minute walk from the station but far enough away from the beaten track). The Alhambra Hotel was basic but very clean and prices for a double room with English Breakfast started at £45, which is a reasonable price for a hotel anywhere...
