La Plata means the Silver
Review of La Plata by
mreservado
Advantages: You'll visit a little secret place!
Disadvantages: Just for a day.
...Yes, La Plata means the silver but it can also means the money, and it was quite right during some time for this city to be called like that. La Plata is the capital of Buenos Aires Province, and after it was founded in the 1880's it was the heart of the whole country.
Although now the heart and soul is in the Federal Capital, called Capital Federal, a very original name... La Plata kept it's interesting life. It's about 56 km southeast from the Fed. Cap.
La Plata has amazing public buildings because it was supposed to reflect it's main roll in the Argentinean history. And the distribution of this tries to imitate Washington DC, USA, where all the major avenues are connecting the city's public buildings and parks.
La Casa de Gobierno, that is the Government House, is were the Governor "works", head of the city, and is one...

Breezes Hotel Puerto Plata
Review of Breezes Puerto Plata, Puerto Plata by
kate44
Advantages: Clean, nice food and lots to do
Disadvantages: Not much night life, book early at resturaunts
...I stayed at this 3+ star hotel for 2 weeks last March and overall i was pretty impressed.
This hotel located at Puerto Plata was beautifully decorated and very clean and well kept, it seemed more like a 4 star hotel that a 3 star. We paid a little under £2,000 for two weeks all inclusive and this was for a double room with sea views.
The hotel is right on the beach so the views were absolutely amazing..
We found most of the staff friendly and we got checked in within 15 minutes.
On arrival our bags were collected and taken straight away so we could go straight to the reception to check in.
This hotel is ideal for keen golfers and watersports fans as the hotel is right on the beach and has a large golf course to the side of the hotel.
We were amazed at how nice and 'grand' the hotel looked when we got there.
This hotel...

"I Want to Buy a Melon!"
Review of Bahia Principe San Juan, Puerto Plata by
Sarah_Louise
Advantages: Gorgeous setting, lovely and friendly staff, superb food and drink
Disadvantages: N/A
...at that. Bahia Principe is actually just before the town anyway so chances are you'll not even see the town itself unless you go out on any excursions or go off wandering on your own.
The resort itself is situated out and out of all other resorts (which appeared to be the norm for all resorts on the North of the island from what I saw on the excursions we went on).
You'll be flying into Puerto Plata more than likely which is the main city on the island (albeit not the capital). The resort is about an hour and 15 minute bus drive from the airport in Puerto Plata. The staff at the airport and on the bus depots are all friendly and helpful though so no worries on that one.
Now the first thing I was pleased with was the fact that our coach to the resort was lovely and cool. I have heard someone who visited the island a few years back...

'Its Bahia Principe'
Review of Bahia Principe San Juan, Puerto Plata by
Ratherhaveaham
Advantages: Top class all inclusive hotel
Disadvantages: Isolated from other resorts
...and breads or more traditional bacon and egg. Tea and coffees were available as were a variety of fruit juices. The variety at lunch and evening meals was too great to list but be assured even the fussiest eater would find something nice to eat.
The two a-la-carte restaurants were a once-a-week do for us but I've heard some all inclusive deals vary so please check, but both are well worth a visit. The Mexican especially, sat looking over the beach as the sun sets. The menu has probably changed but back then the crepes were to die for! And a mexican evening wouldn't be complete without a few rounds of tequila slammers or 'boom-booms' as the lads dressed up as mariachis liked to call them. If you're lucky they might even play your song!
There is also an afternoon tea available in the piano bar, normally tea, coffee and cakes, but nice...

All the rum you can drink...
Review of Club Hotel Riu Merengue, Puerto Plata by
Kingseany
Advantages: All inclusive, great staff, great food, good atmosphere
Disadvantages: Entertainment can become repetitive
...We stayed at the Riu Merengue in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic in January 2004. This is classed as a five star all inclusive, and is located on the North coast of the island. Distance from the airport is only about 30 minutes, so it's not long before you are settling in after the gruelling flight.
Check in was quick, there weren't too many other arrivals at the same time thankfully. We were handed a nice welcome drink and wandered off to find our room. It took a while, even though we had some kind of map, but it would have been nice to have been shown to the room, as it was no longer daylight but of course we found it. As soon as we got into the room we poured ourselves a drink from the drinks dispenser. Cuba Libre (rum with coke) of course, since it's the national drink. We checked out the room, it seemed like everything...

Sun, sea, sand oh & the sex on the beach
Review of Gran Ventana Beach Resort, Puerto Plata by
gemax2
Advantages: Very clean, excellent service & lovely weather
Disadvantages: Attracts a lot of kids, not excellent evening entertainment
...So on the 5th July 08:55am we set off (on time) from Birmingham airport on a Britannia airbus. After a nine-hour flight we arrived into Puerto Plata (POP) airport, which is the capital of the Dominican Republic, and just a 20minute transfer to the Gran Ventana Hotel.
The Gran Ventana hotel is situated in the northern region of the Dominican Republic and is well known for it's windy climate.
PLAYA DORADA
Playa Dorada is the resort the Gran Ventana is situated in. Playa Dorada which is the largest all inclusive complex because it is made up of 20 all inclusive hotels and is surrounded by a huge golf course excellent for golfers and great for people who like to stay in their own hotel as well as venture out because if you have ever been to the Dominican you will know the towns where people live are horrendous they are very poor...

De La Mix: Remixes, Rarities & Classics
Review of De La Mix Tape (Remixes, Rarities And Classics) [PA] - De La Soul by
Christian921
Advantages: A few really good tracks, some De La Soul tunes you have never heard before
Disadvantages: The album has no flow, a few weak remixes
...***Warning*** This review does contain some edited adult language and themes. The words have been changed but the meaning is plain.
In the stacks of wax you can find the De La Mix: Remixes, Rarities & Classics, De La Soul's 2004 release on Tommy Boy/ Rhino. This is not so much a greatest hits as it is a revisiting in an alternate universe. Both commercial and critical successes are treated to a fresh dusting off, live performance or remix on this disk.
Laying down the Knowledge
For those of you that don't already know, De La Soul has been around since rap was just rap. Hip hop was just starting to take root as a music genre. There was just rap. When the boys from Long Island hit the scene there was the rap that played on the radio and the rap we listened to when our parents were out of ear shot. De La dropped 3 Feet High...

Ooh La La! - ooh la la!
Review of Lush Ooh La La Soap by
Flossiesdoll
Advantages: It smells so good and it's so pretty
Disadvantages: So many great Lush soaps to choose from!
...How I love this soap. I mean really really, love it. It's in my top 3 all time favourite Lush soaps, along with Extra Virgin and Figs & Leaves.
The ingredients of Ooh La La are Sodium Palm Kernelate, Propylene Glycol, Water (Aqua), Lavender, Honeysuckle and Marigold Infusion (Lavendula hybrida, Lonicera caprifolium & Calendula officinalis), Sodium Stearate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Grape Juice (Vitis vinifera), Perfume, Rosemary Oil (Rosmarinus officinalis), Thyme Oil (Thymus vulgaris), Lavender Oil (Lavendula hybrida), Lavender Absolute (Lavendula hybrida), Sodium Chloride, Glycerine, Colour 61585, Colour 18050, Lavender Sprigs (Lavendula hybrida), Rosebuds (Rosa centifolia).
Like all Lush soaps, it's vegetarian and none of the ingredients are tested on animals. In line with Lush's minimal packaging policy, you can choose a chunk...

Anton LaVae and The DEVIL WHO MADE HIM WRITE IT
Review of The Satanic Bible - Anton LaVey by
CrutcHead
Advantages: written by a really intelligent man of the world
Disadvantages: its not written by Satan himself!
...TITLE: The Satanic Bible
AUTHOR: Anton Z. LaVae
Non-Fiction
Publisher: Avon books
FORMAT: Paperback
66 pages
1969 © Anton Zandor LaVae
The book called the SATANIC BIBLE (aka. The Black Book), is written three years after the Church of Satan is established by its founder Anton Zandor LaVae (1930-1997), and have never seen its light of day for publication until another three years after by 1973 – and ever since from this point on, the book have often gathered mainly a lot of readers, who are much likely levelling among those on the crowd of the wrong audiences. Why this is so, is because that mainly its readers are those of the merely curious, the scoffing prejudiced, and/or those who think that they could gain something from the book which level on the cheesy, the bizarre, and the perverted -- ‘sickos’ whom Anton LaVae would...

Ohh la la la la Senza
Review of La Senza (Shop) by
sjl02
Advantages: Helpful Assistants, Not Overpriced, Not Tacky
Disadvantages: -
...Oy lads, come into my office....
close the door....
thats better.
Anyway, ditch the choccys and forever friends teddys and get the lady of your life into some nice Lingerie. Not only will she love it, but so will you.
I visited the Leeds branch of La Senza to get a nice bra & panties set for my girlfriend and it's obvious they have been on a "look out for clueless blokes" training course.
La Senza, in case you didn't know sell a good range of, hmmmm, 'conservative' sexy underwear. There's no PVC outfits or whips etc in this place (or none that I saw anyway!) Most of the bras tend to be from £15-£30 with thongs and panties starting at about £10. They also sell ladies pyjamas, socks, i.e. night clothes. I've seen a few La Senza's kicking about and been in them but never bought up until today.
After trying not to be too...
