The injustice of life...
Review of The Count of Monte Cristo - Alexandre Dumas by
sweet_baby
Advantages: interesting story
Disadvantages: none
...The Count of Monte Cristo is a really interesting story, where we can see how selfish and hypocrite people can be to have what they want even make other lives a complete misery...
It's, what we can say as, the human nature...
1) *THE HUMAN NATURE: SELFISH, AMBICIOUS, HYPOCRITE
The story begins in 1815, Edmond Dantes, a yound officer, cames back from a trip, in the Morrel's ship called Pharaon. Dntes had to take the place of the capitain Leclerc due to his death during the trip (high fever).
24th February 1815, it's Dantes then, that brings back the Pharaon to the port of Marseille.
Since his arrival, he's received by Morrel, the ownership who made him the promess to make him the captain of his ship.
Dantés is completely happy, this way he will be able to help his old father financily and marry his beautiful fiancee, Mercedes...

Definitely worth a second visit.
Review of General: Slovenia by
eljacko6276
Advantages: Scenery, Culture, Relaxation, Food
Disadvantages: None
...warmer.
FOOD -
In Ljubiana we visited a traditional Slovenian eating place but because it was Easter holiday weekend it was packed and after waiting 20 mins we were so hungry we had to find alternative eating place. Sadly we resorted to the Slovenian version of McDonalds!
Ate a lovely Italian meal at a place in Ljubliana and a HUGE pizza at Lake Bled.
Difficult to give any further comments re food except that if you visit Lake Bled you must have a Bled cake. Flaky pastry on the bottton, a large layer of confectioners' custard and whipped cream on top. HEAVEN!
SHOPPING -
Sadly I didn't go to shop. All I can remember is that in Ljubliana's main department store there was a Topshop! Same as UK prices.
Also outside Ljubliana there is an E Leclerc / Carrefour which was great - esp if you know the French versions. Also...

Review of Panzer General 3D Assault (PC) by
SirLink
Advantages: Nice tweaked command structure; impressive 3D graphics
Disadvantages: Some blurriness; some design changes may seem fussy
..., familiar list of the Western Front's Greatest Hits. If you're new to the Panzer General series, you'll enjoy them, but if you're already familiar with the earlier games, they are a been-there-done-that experience. Multiplay is a blast, but solo play is also very gratifying because the AI is aggressive, sneaky, and surprisingly dynamic.
The campaigns have been revised greatly. You can play long ones as a famous leader (Rommel, Montgomery, Patton, Guderian), or shorter, rather more interesting campaigns as Kesselring, O'Connell, Leclerc, or even General Patch. I recommend the shorter ones: the battles are less familiar and you have a fair chance of winning on the default level of difficulty. As for the long campaigns, they are much more tweakable than ever before. In all previous editions, it was infuriatingly hard to score a "major victory...

Review of Kronenbourg 1664 Lager by
dave27
Advantages: Tasty
Disadvantages: None
...and pure and refreshing and just right after a hard night's watching the box.
A six pack of them ran us just £1.60 in E Leclerc, a French hypermarket, and in anyone's language that's wonderful value. The cans are decorated with a rather garish red and white large check pattern with the standard Kronenbourg crest and they come in a 33 cl size which the can reports as being 4.5% alcohol - I've never really understood exactly what all that crap means and tend to rely instead on my taste buds and this stuff is undoubtedly neat, quite one of the best cans of lager I've ever encountered.
Right from the very click FIZZZZZZ of the can's opening comes the grand expectation and anticipation and it's a real struggle to resist hoisting it immediately to your mouth to slake a man's thirst. To enjoy it best (like all decent lager), you have to keep...

The 1664 beer city
Review of Strasbourg (France) by
alexandrapontecaille
Advantages: nice landscapes, excellent food, cultural and historical place, suited for anyone
Disadvantages: very cold in winter time and very hot (no air) in summer time
...until General Leclerc freed it in 1944.
It is today a main part in the EU and is the headquarters of many European institutions. Thanks to the Rhine River the merchandising traffic is extremely active and gives a subsequent boost to the local economy.
Places to go:
Modern arts museum
Historical museum
Archaeological museum
Alsatian museum
Fine arts museum
Decorative museum
But you can also visit:
Church of Strasbourg right in the middle of the town:
Inside there is the Astronomical clock, a mid 19th version of the original 14th century clock. It is a beauty and rather impressive. I wasn’t really familiar with this huge object so I stayed to the 12.30session to see it in action and I tell you that I was amazed and fascinated. It is quite hard to explain and the best is to go and view it. It is a very old gothic...
