More than just cookers
Review of cookers-direct.co.uk by
NIGSY
Advantages: Large range of big name appliances
Disadvantages: None
...side of the screen there is 4 boxes.
1: COOKERS
2:OVENS, HOBS & HOODS
3: WASHING MACHINES
( integrated appliances)
4: REFRIGERATION
Navigating any of these main areas works in the same way so I will concentrate on the COOKER section, as it’s the first on the list.
Once you click on the COOKER box you are given 2 options,
1: Free standing
2: Range type
once you have decided on which type , the next option list is ,
1: Gas
2: Electric
3: Dual fuel
Again once you have decided on which type you are given a list of manufacturers,
Baumatic Belling
Cannon Leisure
Newworld Stoves
As you can se they only deal with the main manufacturers so you know the items are of good quality.
When you click on the manufacturers name i.e. Belling all the cookers bearing their name are shown ,
Each has...

The In-CREDA-ble budget cooker
Review of Creda CAPRI C150L 500mm Gas Cookers by
sandemp
Advantages: Very durable | Cheap | Does what it's supposed to |
Disadvantages: No fancy functions
...After leaving home I'd had a series of second-hand cookers and although they'd done the job pretty well, I couldn't help but dream of that day when I could afford to buy my very own sparkling brand new cooker. So I scrimped and I saved and eventually I had enough money to go and buy the cooker of my dreams, which ended up being the Creda Capri, a gas fuelled cooker in a beautiful shade of racing green.
---Why the Capri?---
I was on a limited budget (under £250) when I bought this, but was still looking for something that would fit in with my then green themed kitchen. I also wanted gas fuelled rather than electric, because I've always felt electric cookers smell funny (especially the hob). After much deliberation and searching around the shops and home shopping catalogues (I didn't have the internet then), I happened upon the Creda...

Slow Cooker...Right Up My Street
Review of Hinari Lifestyle Slow Cooker SC350 by
purebitch
Advantages: An easy way to cook,
Disadvantages: NONE
...I invested in a slow cooker, purely by accident. As some of you may know, I hate cooking. The thought of throwing everything into a slow cooker and leaving it alone all day, appealed to me. However, this slow cooker that I am writing about, was originally bought for some one else. It was to be a present for someone, who had been saying that they wanted one for while. When we bought it, we liked it, and to be honest I wanted to keep it! As things turn out, the present was returned to us, as it wasn't big enough for the amount of food this person wanted to cook in it.
************************LOOKS************************
This slow cooker is in three parts. There is a lid, an outer pot and an inner pot. It is quite stylish to look at, and it is not over sized. It quite happily sits in the corner, on my work top.
The lid is glass...

What to look for in a gas cooker
Review of Member Advice on Gas Cookers by
Ray45
Advantages: Cheaper than electricity, faster, good range of cookers
Disadvantages: None
...Years ago I would have recommended specific makes, such as Canon, but now most companies are offering similar appliances. They are all owned by each other anyway! So it is best to look at whichever cooker you like, and see if it meets safety standards. Here are a few pointers to help you choose :
Look for a cooker that doesn't have much glass on it. If the glass parts break (and they very often do) they are really expensive to replace.
Parts availability is very important and not something that many customers ask about when buying a cooker. Ask the shop to check what the availability is like for parts in your area. I avoid some makes of appliances because I know their parts service is very poor and I don't want to be without a cooker for long periods of time while waiting for parts. For this reason, I usually avoid Italian...

ROMA at your Leisure
Review of Leisure ROMA20 by
marsupialmama
Advantages: double oven, one fan assisted oven, clock/minute minder
Disadvantages: flimsy control knobs
...We have been forced to change a few appliances within last year (see other reviews and we are still to get a new fridge/freezer) and one of them was a cooker. We got our previous one as a hand me down after we moved to a new (rented) house and we just had our first baby. I will spare you horror stories with that one as it was falling apart under my pots.
We are always on a tight budget, so I always look for bargains, especially on the net as well as high street adverts in newspapers. I definitely recommend reading reviews on Ciao (of course!) and perhaps trying price check with kelkoo as well.
If you buy through catalogues such as Empire or Littlewoods it is worth checking their online site first rather than ordering from the book by phone as they often have online only deals with big price reductions (as does Currys).
I...

Beko double electric cooker Model DCV6531S
Review of Beko DVC6631S Ceramic Double Oven Electric Cooker (silver) by
tigerthecat
Advantages: good quality, easy to use and inexpensive
Disadvantages: ceramic hob stays warm for quite a while after switch off.
...I bought this cooker 4 years ago now and have had no problems with it, it has been extremely reliable.
~Ceramic Hob~
The ceramic hob has four hot plates, these heat up very quickly so use less energy than traditional solid plates. The front left hotplate is an 1800w rapid plate, and the other three are rear left and front right at 1200 w and rear right is 1700w.
~Main Oven~
It has a large main oven that is fan assisted, which means more even cooking of food. It has a 53ltr capacity and has two removable shelves.
You get good even food cooking and it has a B rating for energy efficiency, this is not the best but not the worst as best is an A.
~Second Oven/ Grill~
The second oven has also got a B rating for energy efficiency. This also doubles as the grill. It is not fan assisted but is great for small items, thus...

It's no slow cooker....
Review of Cordon Bleu Slow Cooker by
babajane32
Advantages: versitile and time saving
Disadvantages: none
...to the kitchen and with the ceramic insert doubling as an oven dish you get extra value. It is also worth taking into account that it uses very little elctricity to run, far less than running an oven for an hour or so.
--------------------
Using your slow cooker:-
Choose your dish, prepare your ingredients...chuck them in, switch on and go and enjoy the day..Then come back a few hours later and enjoy your meal !!!
The only things that you realy need to know is that meat is much better if very lightly fried to seal in the juices, and although this is not nessasary if you don't your meat can have almost a slimey texture.
It is always worth bearing in mind that slow cookers work by keeping the moisture sealed in..so the less times you lift the lid the better !!!
Meals such as porridge and rice dishes need less cooking so...

Hinari Slow Cooker Fits Our Lifestyle
Review of Hinari Lifestyle Slow Cooker SC350 by
Shroud
Advantages: can be left on all day, economical to run, easy to clean
Disadvantages: need to remember to put the food in hours before you eat
...For all you busy people out there or people who wish to save on your gas/electric bill and save on your food bill too, then this kitchen gadget is defintely for you. A slow cooker is an extremely low wattage appliance that can be safely left on all day (or night). How it works is you place your ingredients in the pot, add a bit of fluid such as water or broth, put on the lid, and switch on to your chosen setting. It gently cooks your food with steam. More about that later.
The Hinari Lifestyle slow cooker retails for about £39. It is stainless steel on the outside, with a vented smoked glass lid. The removable inner pot is earthenware (hence why in the USA they are called crockpots)and comes in black. The crock liner is extremely easy to clean as the steam cooking action keeps the food moist so it all just wipes off. Occasionally you...

Double Oven 60cm Gas Cooker
Review of Belling G744 Gas Cooker by
Titch47
Advantages: Easy to clean and very smart looking.
Disadvantages: Oven racks quite difficult to pull out. No oven light.
...I purchased this cooker in white. I paid £269.95 but most suppliers seem to be selling it for £500+ so I think perhaps mine was priced wrongly as it certainly seems more like a £500 cooker than a cheaper model. It is a very smart looking cooker and easy to keep clean. It has double glass panels to both ovens which are extremely easy to wipe clean as is the smoked glass lid. The burners are very neat looking and the pan supports keep even the smallest of pans stable. Being 60cm the oven is a generous size and the hotplate easily accommodates four full size pans at once.
I find the grill very fast and when only cooking on one shelf the top oven is more than adequate.
The self cleaning oven really does self clean. The shelves in the main oven are a bit difficult to remove but I think this may just be due to it being new. The oven does...

Brean Leisure Park - Fun City
Review of Brean Leisure Park by
elfbwillow
Advantages: Reasonable costs
Disadvantages: A lot of steps so unsuitable for wheelchair users in places
...Brean Leisure Park
A/N: You can stay in accommodation here or visit as a day guest. We had accommodation near by so this review is written from that perspective. Thanks.
As some of you may know if you read my review before this, our recent holiday - the first with our baby daughter - took us to Brean in Somerset where we stayed in Brean Sands Pontins Holiday Park, and right next door what did we find? Only a Leisure park. You may be asking yourself why the surprised tone? Well the answer to that is clear - Brean is a very small and quiet place and there is not much in this village size beach town except sandy beaches and the odd shop here and there, so to find a leisure park of decent size was not what I was expecting.
Due to holidaying with a 5 month old baby, we were limited to what we could do, yet we found...
