...I have lived in Peterborough for 37 years, and the Central Park has always been the place to take your children, photos of the park go back to Victorian times and the actual layout has not changed since then. For one it cannot get any bigger as it is in the older central part of the city with buildings all around, though this does not distract from the Park itself. The Park is one large circle with a very wide road around the outside. There are four gates, entry points to the Park and about ten yards in an inner footpath that goes around the Park. The four gates all have footpaths that lead to the centre which is a large flower bed that has a willow tree, this my husband tells me was planted some time in the 60's as there used to be a band stand on the same spot. ...My husband had to go to Manchester for a meeting at fairly short notice and would be staying over the night before. As I'm not working at the moment, I decided to tag along - any excuse to go shopping in Manchester for a few hours. Unfortunately, it being the 4th March, Manchester United were playing at home in the Champions League and, despite the best efforts of his company travel people, the nearest they could get at a price they were willing to pay - £58 room and £7.50 breakfast - was the Oldham Central Premier Inn (about 12 miles from the Gmex where we were planning to park). Now this hotel is literally right next to Oldham football ground and they were playing at home but we had absolutely no problem getting a room! We actually hadn't realised that the game was on, otherwise we would have pushed it a bit on the way up... Read review

...Central Trains are their own worst enemy. They provide train services from Shrewsbury to Nottingham via Birmingham and also to East Anglia. They have provided train services for a long time. So how come they still have not got it right, yet? Central Trains is the cause of many phone calls to consumer radio programmes in the Midlands. And you often hear a spokesman or spokeswoman coming up with some explanation as to why they have managed to mess things up, again. One of the problems that face passengers of Central Trains is the fact that Central Trains seems unable to understand that, sometimes, people become ill and have to 'phone in sick. Of course, it would not be possible (sadly!) to go back to the days when spare staff would wait at strategic locations around the British Rail network, waiting to cover for colleagues who had... ...Central trains has provided me with a essential link to and from college and to see family and friends as i result i travel most days of the week. Central trains operate through major stations in the midlands, further North and also East Anglia. So most people will be able to be able to get a direct link to most destinations around the UK. Quality of transport Central trains quality differs according to what service, but one thing that is the same in all is the amount of leg room. I am 6ft tall and sometimes feel so uncomfortable sat in those seats. And a word of warning, keep your hands away from the seats, i've seen many people look in disgust as they find a old banana skin down the side of their chair or a nice wet bit of chewing gum. but it is presentable but could do with a better cleaning once in a while. ...About the Company The company is based in Birmingham and owns approximately 200 trains operating between Wales and The south of England. These trains are Mainly Alpha line class 147 express clipper trains. Now, My opinion I travel with Central trains very often usually from Liverpool to Wales (You might have read my sisters opinion on lynscoll5 on Virgin) we often use these companies to get to our destination. We use Virgin from Liverpool to Crewe and the Central trains from there onwards. I much share the same opinion of central trains as my sister does of Virgin trains as the cabin for the passengers is so small it is unbelievable. Instead of adding seats, the Central Trains network manager insists of putting extra toilets and extra trolleys on board. To make money no doubt. The food... Read review

...Well I know that this train company is still listed in Ciao as Connex South Central, but for the last year and a bit, this train service has changed hands. It is now run by a company called Govia, under the new name South Central. Having been in Brighton now in university for three years I have seen first hand how the train service has been running here. When I arrived, Connex was in charge down here and had a fairly bad reputation. With an open mind, I used this service on many occasions, on both the longer routes into London and to Gatwick Airport, in addition to the suburban routes to the university station at Falmer. However, after a few months I came to realise that Connex reputation was well deserved. Often late, cancellations were common place and overcrowding due to lack of available rolling stock.
