A List of Some Songs
Review of 10 Best Rock Songs by
piffles
Advantages: They are good songs!
Disadvantages: You think they are bad songs probably!
.../Punk that is and it comes from one of the first bands to master this genre, Less Than Jake. Now I doubt many on Ciao have even heard of this band so think, very loosely, ‘Madness’ mixed with any true modern punk band and you have Less Than Jake. This particularly good song, ‘All My Best Friends Are Metalheads’, by them begin with a 20 second speech of the caption above which is then followed by the common guitar riff of the song. As with most ska music we play witness to some lovely trumpets and trombone in ‘AMBFAM’ which take the role a lead guitar would take in many instance here. The song is very cheery and upbeat and a great one to dance to.
8) ‘Placebo’ – ‘Pure Morning’ (taken from the album ‘Without You I’m Nothing’)
“A friend in needs a friend indeed, a friend with weed is better, a friend with breasts and all the rest, a friend who’s dressed...

10 Good Songs
Review of Top 10 Songs of All Time by
laserquester
Advantages: See Text
Disadvantages: See Text
...with woodchip on the wall, and when I came round to call you didn?t notice me at all"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Artist: Oasis
Title: Don't Look Back In Anger
Length: 4:46
Album: (What's The Story) Morning Glory? (1995).
The best Oasis song by a country mile! Fantastically inspiring lyrics, and a truly brilliant tune to go with it. Not only is the tune itself brilliant, but it also has one of the best instrumental sequences I have ever heard in any song ever, with the only one that can challenge being parts of 'Ben. E King's Stand By Me.
The part I am referring starts after about 3 minutes of the song, and last for around 40 seconds. The chords are used a few times in succession, but it changes after a few repeats. Each time it changes there is a change in length of the repetition, and depth of the music. The sound gets gradually more intense...
See you in the Morning? Yes, you probably will!
Review of See You In The Morning - Mint Royale by
steve0898
Advantages: Lots of feel good tracks
Disadvantages: Not as good as previous releases
...Mint Royale - See you in the Morning
Mint Royale are a Big Beat Electronic style group which came together back in 1997. They started off just doing remixes of songs but later produced their first album in 1999 On The Ropes and releasing the first chart single Don't Falter featuring Lauren Laverne. Their second album Dancehall Places (my favorite) released in 2002 featured songs such as The Sexiest Man in Jamaica and the Blue Song.
This long awaited album See you In the Morning, released in 2005 wasn't a great hit to be honest but still has that big beat feel reminiscent of Dancehall Places but has a more relaxed tone to it.
2. The Effect On Me
4. Little Words
5. Singin' In The Rain
Hey Now!
Weakest song on album but it is still certainly good. Catchy tune 7/10
Track 6
This is a sample of the swamp song from the masterplan. Its a bit of a interlude for the later songs.
More rocky, More diverse, More great songs
Review of Straight On 'till Morning - WOB by
Vodkaboy
Advantages: Great upbeat rockers, mellow ballads, fantastic voice
Disadvantages: Perhaps a few too many slow ones!
...Straight on till Morning is the second album by the talented singer-songwriter-guitarist from south east England. Released in 1998, the cover and booklet are filled with photographs from Wob's tour of Australia earlier that year.
The style and sound has developed since his debut, "I Can't Stay Long". Much more use is made of electric guitars in the uptempo songs, and two of the tracks on album have barely any acoustic guitar at all, being really rock songs.
Most of the songs on "Straight on Till Morning" can be divided into two types: There are the upbeat, rocky songs such as "Cradled", "Big Sun, Big Sky", "Into You". At the other end of the scale there are the soft, gentle ballads: "Hopeless", "Berlin" and the sad "Go Well". In between there are a couple of songs that sit in either or neither camp: the fast and frantic acoustic...
Let There Be Morning
Review of Let There Be Morning - Perishers (The) by
Amy_Coppock
Advantages: some good songs
Disadvantages: can be fairly sombre in places, difficult to get hold of
....
And they do fit into that style of music well, although I suppose in a sense that does
make some of their songs sound a little depressing.
Let There Be Morning is their second album, but their first album to be released in
North America
Track Listings:
1. Weekends
2. Sway
3. Reminder
4. My Heart
5. Nothing Like You and I
6. Trouble Sleeping
7. Still Here
8. Going Out
9. Pills
10. Let There Be Morning
As I said before they have been likened to the likes of Keane and that is probably one
of the reasons I like them. The type of sound they have is similar to Keane with their
Hopes and Fears album and not so much their new one (not that I've heard much of
that one, but it seems a little more upbeat.).
Quite a few of the songs have a fairly sombre mood to them, and can be thought
provoking, but I wouldn't say...
Songs For Living
Review of Top 10 Songs of All Time by
mattwood
Advantages: Some wonderful music
Disadvantages: You may of course not like it
...when in love. I only discovered this track a couple of years back when I was going through an ‘eighties phase’, but it’s stuck with me ever since.
Incidentally, there’s a number of truly awful cover versions of this song, which are an insult to the original! If you hated the covers, listen to the original – you WILL like it! If you liked the covers, listen to the original anyway – you will be blown away.
**Number Eight: ‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis, from ‘Morning Glory’ (1995)**
Oh dear, another love song – I didn’t plan it like this, honest! Anyway, one of my favourite songs of all time, from one of my favourite bands of all time. Quite simply, this is the sound of a band who once ruled the world, having the time of their lives – and it shows.
Quite possibly no Nineties song permeated British culture like ‘Wonderwall’ did. Hum...
It's A Brand New Morning
Review of New Morning, A - Suede by
Andy.mack
Advantages: One of, if not the best track by the band. Quite possibly the best album to date
Disadvantages: Not as many fast glam tracks, that will likely to disapoint older fans
...track "Obsessions", which could easily be classed as the best track the band have done to date. The track has a simple beat right from the start as the drums and guitars kick it off. Brett's vocals carry the song well, with the accompaniment of a good guitar riff and the drums making a big contribution. The vocals really do make the track but the lyrics, co-written by Anderson and guitarist Richard Oakes will make a big impression on everyone whether you're a Suede fan or not.
"it's the way you scratch your skin when you yawn
it's the t-shirts that you choose like you're in the air force"
After Obsessions comes one of my favourite tracks on the album other than the previous track, "Lonely Girls". One of the relaxing tracks on the album it opens with the acoustic guitar on its own leading up to the vocals where Brett comes in...
The Morning After
Review of Morning After, The - Deborah Cox by
jcneil
Advantages: Great vocal ability, lyrics
Disadvantages: A couple of weaker links
..."Sentimental", "Who Do U Love", "Where Do We Go From Here" and "The Sound Of My Tears"
**Morning After**
This is her third album and first for J-Records, It was released on 5th November 2002 and features the singles "Absolutely Not (Chanel Mix)", "Up & Down (In & Out)", "Mr. Lonely", "Play Your Part" and "The Morning After". Here is my run down of her album The Morning After.
**Album Review**
1. Up and down (in and out)
This is one of the dance tracks and has a great beat and the percussive feel of this track makes you shake your body along to the beat and melody. A decent dance track.
2. 2 Good 2 Be True
This track shows off her rich vocals to great effect. An uptempo track that flows really well and is one of the best uptempo tracks on The Morning After.
3. Play Your Part
This is a great ballad that has an uptempo feel...
Maybe not such a New Morning after all
Review of New Morning - Bob Dylan by
JOHNV
Advantages: A few reasonable moments
Disadvantages: Too many uninspiring ones
...'New Morning' is an often-overlooked curiosity in Dylan's back catalogue. It came in the wake of his baffling 'Self Portrait', made up of self-written throwaways, live tracks from the Isle of Wight and dreadful MOR crooner fare like 'Blue Moon'. After its hostile critical reception the man had to prove himself once again, hence this quickly-recorded set recorded in a few days and released only five months later.
Part of it is an extension of the more mellow feel that was apparent on the (in my view pretty bland) 1969 'Nashville Skyline' set. But the songs are certainly not his best, and perhaps it's significant that only the opening track has been covered by others. 'If Not For You' is a sprightly countryish number that, harmonica work apart, could almost have appeared on 'Skyline'. A superior, slower version appeared at around...
