Advantages: Service standards, excellent staff, great chalet

...We have just returned from a week at the Chalet Montagnes with Simply Morzine. This is our second time with Simply Morzine, last year was at the Hotel Chaumiere. As before, we had a large group of 15, mixed adults and children (3 yrs - 9yrs). The Chalet is just fantastic, just outside town, but within easy walk to Felix Ski, and the Pleney cablecar. What sets it aside from any other holiday we've been on is the level of service that is provided by Simply Morzine. They are outstanding in attention to detail, and no request is too much. From arrival at Geneva Airport, first night briefing and delivery of lift passes, picking up skis/boots, through shuttle to/from slopes every day, to the most amazing cooking from Tom, the top chef. ...What a fabulous place! When I saw this place on the web site www.thefarmhouse.co.uk it looked quaint and romantic, but the web site cannot do it justice! We were collected from Geneva Airport in a smart minibus with a really friendly, chatty driver - Harry. The hour and 15 minute drive to Morzine passed quickly as he gave us tips on where best to ski and where the biggest lift queues were likely to be. Morzine was just a described, a lovely picturesque place, completely unlike some of the high rise type of resorts that we had previously visited in France. When we got to The Farmhouse, our initial thought was "This looks a bit old" which of course - it is as we found out, it is the oldest building in the village. Advantages: good snow, big ski area, pretty
Disadvantages: Fairly quiet, not a lot of shops.

...I have fond memories of Les Gets,the small Alpine village in the Haute Savoie. It was where I learnt to ski, and I had a fantastic time. The flight is normally to Geneva- a short flight- but the downside is that it is a long coach transfer. The roads are just a bit scarey to the resort (my friend was ill), so if you can afford it pay for a transfer by taxi- its about £90 now! The village is very pretty, based around one main road that links the valley with Morzine on the other side. A few shops, some bars, and a poor nightclub (l'igloo); but great skiing. On one side you have Mont Caly and Mont Chery. This is the highest skiing in the resort, is virtually snow sure, but is not that extensive, it does link with the back of Morzine if you fancy skiing one of the scariest runs I have ever met in my life! Advantages: Small, quiet, Not busy when skiing, good terrain in summer for sports
Disadvantages: Small, quiet, no nightlife

...as some of the runs in places like La Plagne and Alps Duez but they are longer than other resorts such as Morzine-Les Gets. Overall there is a lot to keep you entertained and on my 7th visit this year i am still finding some parts of the resort challenging. The ski school there is quite small but enough to accomodate the number of people that the resort can hold. They speak french but can also speak english if you want them to. The only other mention goes to the snow park / X zone which involves some large kickers and a boarder cross track which is good fun to practice some speed on. Summer Activities: In the summer you can go swimming or play tennis / mini golf down at the centre in Saitn Gervais. But againt o make the most of the scenery you have to go up the muntain with or bike or walk it. The Mountain biking in the resort... Read review
