...Another installement to my DVD collection - the epic and classic comedy hero - Mr Bean. I love Rowan Atkinson, especially in Black Adder and also in the classic Mr Bean episodes. Despite my mood before hand, after watching Mr Bean I always feel much better, he always manages to intrigue my imagination with his biazarre mannerisms and abilty to turn the most straight forward of tasks into complete disaters! Having not being able to buy the whollebox set I have had to purchase and review each DVD volume one by one. This DVD contains 3 episodes, each with 3 or 4 sketches in them. All of whihc are brilliant and this DVD includes one of my favourites - the one where he goes to the swimming pool and clings to the diving board. The three episodes are entitled: Episode 1. ...Having only made 13 episodes you would think it would be easy enough to release the wholebox set as a complete and more cost effective production. But no, because we are english, we are 'rich' and can afford to splash out on the indivual DVD's, and of course we can wait whilst each is brought out at two month intervals. However if you live in america you get one whole box set, straight away, and before we even get our measly volume one with only 3 episodes on it. Arrgh. Appologies for the rant, but it's a good introduction as to why I have had to review one volume at a time. I do hope you enjoy reading about it. As I'm sure the name Mr Bean will ring bells striaght away. He's the clumsy whimsical character which delighted so many with his mishaps in the 90's. ...The new cartoon format of 'Mr Bean' is all in all a complete let down. I got very excited when I heard that a cartoon mr bean was coming out. I had expected it to be along the lines of the classic comedy sitcom sketches by Rowan Atkinson, but it's nothing like it one bit. The modern artwork tries to make Mr Bean look appealing to the younger generation and completely destroys his unique clumsy geek image. The DVD consists of one disc and features eight animated episodes each lasting about 15 minutes including: 1. Camping (mr bean decides to go camping for a holiday treat, however as usual with mr bean, things go wrong. He makes a security guard angry, he tent colapses and ends up creating more trouble by trying to fix everything and geting even with the secuirty guard). 2. ...As I am sure most of you will know straight away who I mean when I mention the name Mr Bean. He's the love him or hate him guy played by Rowan Atkinson - as was his adopted comedy project after he finished doing Black Adder in the 80's. However if you're not aware of who he is I'll give a brief break down. Mr Bean is a 40-50 year old man who lives alone and dresses in a shirt and tie, complete with tweed jacket everyday dispite the day, month or occassion. The only time he wears anything different is when he goes for a bath, a swim, or to bed when he wears his long PJ's which feature Teddy. Mr Bean also mumbles and bumbles his way through life. Which, in the first and original clips done by Rowan, made humourous incidents out of quite mundane things like going to the dentist, packing for a trip, or attending church were transformed...
