Norfolk - Near Yet So Far Away
Review of Norfolk Broads (England) by  BNibbles

Advantages: Relative isolation from London & Home Counties
Disadvantages: Equally relatively tedious journey to get there

...In view of the impending Suffolk review that I'm working on, I thought it only fair to make sure my Norfolk one was as up-to-date as possible, and I've taken this occasion to add in some of my favourite pictures. Please note, this is not a travel guide to Norwich and Norfolk, just some demented jottings from me, a long-time visitor. You know how it is, whenever you go some place frequently, you always sideline things to see, waiting for the arrival of the mystical 'Round Tuit' (as in "I'll do that when I get a........") I live in West London, and my In-Laws live in Norfolk – therefore I go there quite often. Speaking to other people in my neck of the woods reveals that hardly any of them have been there. This set me thinking why this is, when Norfolk is relatively close to London, well, in distance at least. Travelling time... Read review

Norwich A Most Pleasant Provincial City
Review of Norwich (England) by  ashford

Advantages: History. Culture. Lovely Architecture
Disadvantages: A Tad Isolated

...I first visited Norwich many, many, many years ago when as a ATC cadetin 305 Sdn, I spent a most enjoyable two weeks camp at the then RAF Horsham St Faith’s and still remember vividly the joys of the city. My next visit, as a young man, included a trip to Carrow Road to watch Norwich City in the FA Cup 5th or 6th Round and my most recent, which was a tour of North Norfolk including stays at Great Yarmouth and Cromer, confirmed all my boyhood beliefs that Norwich is a mighty fine place: not too small and not too big, a lovely blend of the old and the modern, and an exceptionally clean city. Norwich was founded by the Saxon “North Folk” “North Folk” later became Norfolk – at the confluence of the Yare and Wansum rivers in the 6th century. It seems the name Norwich did not appear until the 10th... Read review

Norwich - A fine City
Review of Norwich in General by  Faitho

Advantages: There's something for everyone.
Disadvantages: It's a bit out of the way, not many through routes.

...I'm not one for large, crowded cities, but love nothing more than shopping all day long. And I found the perfect place to spend my money - Norwich. Norwich is the Capital of Norfolk and is found in the North East of East Anglia, fairly near the Coast. Two main roads lead into Norwich, the A11 and A47, but there are trains, buses and even planes serving the City and plenty of minor roads too. Norwich is surronded by country side, including the Broads, and many small seaside town are within easy reach of the City. It isn't the largest of cities, but it has everything you could want for. Although there is only one, fairly small shopping centre - Castle Mall, pronounced Mall as in S'all'y(?) not tall, fall, ball,...(it's a Norfolk thing!) - there are a number of department store spread around the city - BHS, M&S, Debenhams, John Lewis... Norwich - a fine city
Review of Norwich (England) by  pjdennis15

Advantages: Relaxed city. Lots to do
Disadvantages: no major motorways to and from the city.

...norwich is the biggest place and the only city in norfolk and east anglia. it’s a city that is improving all the time and major new developments are making norwich more popular, just a shame there isn’t much development with the football club! norwich is a reasonably big uk city but not hugely populated, (only around a quarter of a million live here ) not even the famous delia smith decided to settle here. in recent years the development outside the football club has been poor, but relatively new buildings such as the massive morrison’s supermarket and the new 14 screen cinema. new blocks of flats have given this part of the city a whole new look and feel to it. i would recommend going to norwich in the area outside the football club, as many other areas are not highly developed for young adult entertainment. the squares club... Norwich - a fine city
Review of Norwich in General by  littlemoo

Advantages: tidy, nice atmosphere,
Disadvantages: bad stereotyping

...I was brought up and lived in norwich for 17 years, it was a great place to live, but now i have moved to ipswich (i know help me someone please!!!). I just wanted to make sure all those horrible sterotypes of norfolk people go. When I lived in norwich, I never met a turkey farmer infact i never met a farmer. We are not all carrot crunchers. As you enter noriwch via roads you will see signs say Norwich-a fine city. Now usually when you see signs you ignore them coz they are all crap but this one is correct. Norwich is a fine city. Norwich has many parts to it. You have the new riverside development and you have some older places too. The castle is the best place to learn about the history of norwich. If you go to the top of the castle you can see for miles and is a nice view. Norwich has two cathedals (sorry my brain... Read review

No night's sleep at Norwich Central
Review of Travelodge Norwich Central, Norwich by  KELLYLOUJ

Advantages: Can benefit from £15 rates, great central location
Disadvantages: Noisy main road right outside hotel, no free car park.

...minute travel distance, Norwich Central and Norwich Cringleford I went off the list provided by the Bride and Groom and Norwich Central was there recommendation so I took that to be the closest location. *~*Booking Process*~* As with most travel companies now the lowest prices are offered online whether it be a hotel room, car hire or package holiday. So I logged onto www.travelodge.co.uk and the homepage gives you two options to locate your hotel. Option 1: Somewhere to stay Here you can enter your destination such as Norwich, then the next page will ask you to confirm the region so I selected Norwich, Norfolk and 5 results were produced on the next page ranging from 0.5 miles to 34.6 miles to my required destination. Option 2: Go straight to booking a room This is the option to select if you know the name of the hotel and have... Read review

Norwich - the Gateway of East Anglia
Review of Norwich in General by  rowei

Advantages: Fascinating history and heritage
Disadvantages: Traffic problems in the city

...INTRODUCTION Norwich is one of the biggest cities in East Anglia. Three hundred years ago, it was the largest provincial city in the country, and some still see it as the capital of East Anglia. It is situated in Norfolk, a county renowned for its scenic broads and unspoilt coastline. The city itself is served by several major roads, including the M11, A14, A12 and A140. The main city railway station is located to the south and is about 10 minutes walk from the main shopping area. Anglia Railways run services every 30 minutes from Norwich to London Liverpool Street, and Central Trains run services to Peterborough and the North (Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester). Norwich also has its own airport, with flights to over 300 destinations worldwide, including Amsterdam and Paris. HISTORY OF NORWICH Norwich has such a long... Read review
