a good side
Review of Portugal by steveymacca

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

...portugal showed that they have quite a bit of quality in their side in their opening group match of euro 2000 against england.the likes of figo, rui costa and the other striker who i cant remember the name of all showed off their skills and helped draw portugal back from the brink of defeat to win amazingly 3-2 to the devastation of many england fans (including me!) at two nil up, the portuguese looked dead and buried and i was settling back in my chair to watch an england rout. the rest is history............. Spectator friendly??
Review of Portugal by joer1

Advantages: A joy to watch, whether winning or losing.
Disadvantages: A quick temper

...Whilst watching a Euro 2000 warm up match between Italy and Portugal I came to the decision that I must make a bet on Portugal to win Euro 2000. Despite losing two nil, conceeding two late late goals, Portugal played the best football I have seen since Liverpool in the early Eighties. Sure their defence was weak in the later stages of the game, but everyone knew that, right?? Well going into Euro 2000 Portugal had no chance, according to the media and 'experts', because of their very poor defence. Any one who watched Euro 2000 extensively will now know that Portugal actually have one of the strongest defences in Europe. Sure Italy are the best in the world, and France are solid, but they have been with a strong defence for years. And what about Portugals midfield, Luis Figo, Ruis Costa, Paulo Sousa, and Conceicao, backed up by Costihna... Read review

one to look out for
Review of Portugal by sid

Advantages: skillful
Disadvantages: to much protest

...one of the most improved sides, to come out of euro 2000, was Portugal. they played consistently well, with skill and flair. they beat england well and showed alot of passion to come down from 2-0 down, they humilated germany and beat a skilfull turkish side. they were unlucky against france, but must not disgrace themselves in the future. video evidence showed it was a handball, so that i beleive has marred what would have been an excellent championship for them. players like Figo, Pinto, Bento, and Gomez are quality and in the future portugal will be one to be taken seriously. you did well portugal but disgraced yourselves in the process.otherwise be proud of what you have acheived......the rest of europe knows who you are now!!!!!1... Portugal win the match but lose Scolari
Review of Czech Republic vs Portugal by petery36

Advantages: Good game, Ronaldo played well
Disadvantages: Scolari is leaving

...Another decent performance by the Portugese has meant that they have maintained a 100% start to the Euro 2008 championship. Portugal fielded the same team that they did in their victory over Turkey. Czech Republic did however make the notable change of dropping Koller in favour of Milan Baros. Portugal pulled ahead after just 8 minutes. The move began when Deco skipped past one of the Czech midfielders and then passed the ball into Ronaldo. Ronaldo then passed the ball to Moutinho who gave him a perfect pass back into the box. Ronaldo tried to get past Petr Czech but he made a great tackle, the ball did however come to Deco who scrambled the ball into the back of the net, despite Cech's desperate attempt to stop him. Portugal were already ahead and the game was looking easy for them. This did however all change when Libor Sionko headed... Read review

Strong side
Review of Portugal by rambo

Advantages: Strong side, future prospect and lots of young talents
Disadvantages: Sometimes weak defensively

...I had never seen Portugal play before prior to Euro 2000. So when they played against England, i thought that it would be a workover for the English team. After watching them perform, i have reason to believe that very soon, a trophy will be in their hands. With the likes of Figo,(Probabaly the best midfielder in the world) Rui costa, Vidigal, xavier etc it's difficult to pick a winner in this team. They top thier group in the world cup qualifiers having beaten Holland 2-0 and came close to beating Ireland. Portugal have risen from an unknown team to a professional side. I tip them to qualify in first place from thier group, and go all the way in the next World Cup.... Read review

Schweinsteiger Against Portugal: I'm Löw-ing It!
Review of Portugal vs Germany by scream4bruce

Advantages: Five goals, first goal was great, Portugal stayed in touch
Disadvantages: Portugal poor for set-pieces

...Whilst Portugal saw much of the ball, they missed some good chances and the defensive lapses proved costly. The latter problems seemed evident in their win against the Czech Republic, though unfortunately were not addressed. Also, Scolari chose to rest many of his first-team players in the game against Switzerland - that may or may not have taken momentum out of the side, but the defeat to the Swiss did not help. It was a great team goal to start off with - Podolski working successive one-twos with Klose (?) then Ballack on the left side, before putting the ball across the 6 yard box for Schweinsteiger to score - his only shot in the game! Right side or not, Ferreira was caught napping for the first goal, but Portugal would soon be exposed again, this time from a set-piece - Klose given space to put away a free-header from a free... And the winner of the World Cup 2006 is..PORTUGAL.
Review of Portugal World Cup 2006 Team by Lemos

Advantages: Good team work and counter-attack.
Disadvantages: Poor flank defense

...What a few weeks ago was a dream now is becoming a possible reality; my well beloved Portugal is doing really well in the world cup. Is interesting that they will play against England, because I'm Portuguese but I leave in the UK, we can say it will be quite odd ….. I will be a very happy person in a very unhappy country. I think England didn't got over the Euro 2004 defeat with Portugal yet, and maybe they'll be looking for revenge in this game, it will be a question of honour for them. To be honest both teams have chances to win, they're both good in the attack but Portugal is much better than England in the midfield and counter-attack, this will be a great advantage to my team. I think it will be a good game to watch, with goals, very intense and will make fans jump from their chairs several times. I could talk about the technical... Read review

Superb football
Review of Portugal by sailormn

Advantages: Good players, team spirit
Disadvantages: Bad luck

...I had always tune in to watch Euro 2000 wherever I am...this time round, it was good was I do not have to watch it in the early morning for a live telecast. Watching the semi-final of Portugal against French was an experience in a local pub, not to mention abt the power failure the pub has in the second half of the match. I support Portugal from the start till the end, though they didn't quite make it to the finals. But overall, they played very very well. Both strikers, No. 7 Luis Figo and No. 21 (can't remember his name) are the ones to watch out. Extremely good dribbling of the ball with both legs and superb cross over for Luis Figo. What a spirit the team has. Unfortunately for the hand ball, Portugal could have won, bad luck I guess. Well, next Euro cup maybe...... Read review

The Ultimate Guide to Portuguese Football by Deiz
Review of Portugal by Deiz

Advantages: Skill, flair and passion
Disadvantages: Just cant get it together

...Portugal are regarded by many as underachievers, but this is seriously unjust, rather they are serial over achievers. Portugal may indeed be Europe's very own version of Brazil, yet this nation of less than 10 million inhabitants still has many flaws in a purely footballing sense. They cant defend, they are notoriously indisciplined and but for the brilliance of Vitor Baia in goal over the past seven or eight years, they would surely have struggled to qualify for many of they major final which they have graced. However, dont get me wrong. Despite all that, I am a great fan of Portuguese football, and support them third only to Scotland and my other favourites, Sweden. The comparison between these three nations is clear; while they have different strengths on the football field (Scotland's defence, Sweden's athleticism and Portugal... Read review

Surprise!
Review of Novotel Peace Beijing, Beijing by Erzulie

Advantages: central location
Disadvantages: not luxury

...If you have ever been to Novotel in Europe, you would expect novotel hotel to be average Well the Novotel in Beijing is a totally different story, first of all the location is very very central, right at the store step of Tiannanmen Square and right next to the Oxford Street equivalent in Beijing. Secondly, the hotel entrance is certainly the grandest I have ever been in a novotel with a grand staircase and lots of fresh flowers. The rooms are only average to be honest, but if you happens to stay on the executive floors they are very pleasant and a little bit more luxury than a normal 4 star hotel in Beijing. The only complain ? The food there is only average, in fact I should say do not have a high expectation and you will feel better when you taste it! But with prices for around 50 pounds to 70 pounds per room per night. Novotel... Read review
