Nutri Grain - is it really all that nutritious?
Review of Kelloggs Nutri Grain by  la-libertina

Advantages: Sweet taste, pleasant consistency, appeals to kids and teenagers
Disadvantages: Sugary, full of artificial ingredients, low in nutrients

...They are marketed as a 'cereal' bar, but most who buy Nutri-Grain will find it is more like a cake bar! Nutri Grain consists of a jammy fruit flavoured centre covered by a wheat cake-like outside. It is quite sweet and chewy. Tastewise, it is quite nice and its sweetness and chewy consistency will defintiely be favoured by kids and teenagers. Some adults may find it a bit too sweet. They taste moist and fruity and come in a variety of flavours so everybody should find one they prefer - Blueberry, Strawberry, Cherry, Apple and Chocolate are just some of these. The downside of Nutri Grain is that healthwise they are not that great...probably no better for you than a chocolate bar. Although per bar there are about 130 calories and 3g fat, which is not very high, most of the carbs are sugars [which give you a quick boost and then leave... Read review

Nutri Grains on the Brain
Review of Kelloggs Nutri Grain by  the_man_from_del_monte

Advantages: Quick to eat
Disadvantages: Slightly Dry

...Nutri-Grains come in a variety of flavours, they are: orange strawberry apple blueberry chocolate cherry cappuccino forest fruits youghurt and strawberry/rasberry All of the flavours tast nice except for orange, its a bit tangy and sharp. You can buy them for about 30p each or either about £1.80 for a box of eight (all the same flavour). A nutri grain bar is a cereal bar with a fruit filling. They taste slightly dry but still they are O.K. The packing is a shiny colour in the colour of the flavour of your choice, e.g. blue for blueberry, brown for chocolate. The rapper is made of foil and keeps the bar fresh. They are very useful if you are in a rush in the morning as you can just grab one and eat it on your way. Each bar contains 37 grams and has 140 calories. Ingredients These include cereals, fruit... Read review

Nutri Grain Elevenses Choc Chip Bake Review
Review of Kellogg's Nutri Grain Elevenses by  mummy2harry

Advantages: Tasty, chocolatey, filling
Disadvantages: Only 6 in a box!

...I actually first tried Nutri-Grain Elevenses about a week ago, as Boots were selling them for just 16p each. I grabbed a few of the Choc Chip Bakes as I don't like Raisins and things so I thought these would be a good compromise. So consequently, my review is going to be of Kellogg's Nutri Grain Elevenses Choc Chip Bakes. The package of the bar the bar is white and brown, with the Elevenses logo in the bottom left corner of the bar. The flavour is also on the front in white writing. Also, on the side of the packet it has the calories in each bar which is 179 calories (9% of an adult Guideline Daily Allowance). I think this isn't bad considering the bar contains chocolate as well! The back panel of the bar contains information for the Kellogg's Careline, a barcode and the weight of the bar which is 45g. Under the flap... Read review

Strawberry Nutri-grain bars
Review of Kelloggs Nutri Grain by  DylanD

Advantages: Nice sugar boost
Disadvantages: Not big enough to replace breakfast

...My husband at the weekend bought a box of these to have at work as he never gets a chance to have breakfast before he leaves the house. I asked him if I could try one and this I did as I have not had this particular brand of cereal bar before, I usually if I am going to have one have either the rice crispies one or a tracker bar. On the box it describes these bars as morning bars made with wheat, whole grain oats with fruit and contains as much calcium as a quarter pint of milk, so for all those out there that hate milk this is one for you! stop those breaking flaking fingernails! Kelloggs say they are a supplement for missing breakfast or as a little indulgent fancy. All the bars are suitable for vegetarians except the chocolate one as it contains animal products. Well I tasted the strawberry flavoured bar. There are several... Read review

Can I offer you a Capuccino
Review of Kellogs Nutri-Grain Twists Cappuccino & Creme by  Fruity_Tart

Advantages: A nice coffee fix, cheap
Disadvantages: May be an aquired taste (ie. not everyone will like them)

...The quest for a perfect cereal bar goes on.......... This morning I went for a Cappuccino Nutri-Grain (thanks to Yummy's reminder yesterday that Nutri-Grain exist!), and being a lover of anything coffee flavoured I don't think I can go wrong on this one. I even brought a box of them instead of just one bar, KNOWING that I'm going to like them! lol Made by Kelloggs, it's the latest flavour of Nutri-Grain bar to be introduced and it looks a lot classier than the other flavours. Saying that, my all time favourite Nutri-Grain is the cherry flavour and this bar will have to be pretty damn good to replace that one. oOoOo THE WRAPPER oOoOo This bar comes in a beige foil wrapper showing a delicious looking cup of cappuccino (complete with chocolate sprinkles). It also tells you this bar contains calcium, which is very important... Read review

Give me toast instead, please!
Review of Kelloggs Nutri Grain by  rsmith

Advantages: Healthier than a bar of chocolate
Disadvantages: Mushy and too milky-tasting

...First of all, I should let you know that I don’t like cereal very much. Give me a couple of pieces of buttered toast for my breakfast, and I’m happy. Well, as happy as I CAN be given that if I’m having breakfast it’s probably a weekday, and I have to get to work within an hour! So, if you think of cereal bars as being a substitute for a bowl of cereal, I admit I’m not the best judge. But, more and more, cereal bars are being promoted as a healthy alternative to a chocolate bar, as a snack, than as an alternative to a bowl of cereal. And I have sometimes eaten Kelloggs’ Nutri-grain bars, as the kind of snack I might have with a cup of tea. (I really should insert the ® sign after Nutri-grain, but it’s not going to make this very readable, is it!) But there’s no doubt... Read review

So Calcy-yummy
Review of Kellogg's Nutri Grain Elevenses by  Rach_79

Advantages: Yummy
Disadvantages: rather small 37g

...If i dont have time for breakfast in the morning which i usually dont, i pop off to the local shop and but a ~Nutri-Grain bar~ to make up for it. As i did this morning, didnt fancy any cereal so i had a Kellogs Nutri-Grain bar - *CHERRY* flavour which was really really nice, the first time i had, had this flavour, im usually an apple girl myself but nevertheless... These bars are not however designed to replace cereal in a morning, they are not an alternative and i eat them as a snack if i do happen to miss breakfast as it is something to get me through the morning, well at least until 11am when it's time for tea and scones or something. Nutri-Grain bars are made with wheat, whole-grain, oats and of course fruit, they are also suitable for vegetarians so im told, so there is something for everybody out there. There are *7... Get your Oats!
Review of Kelloggs Nutri Grain by  brittle1906

Advantages: Individually wrapped, convenient
Disadvantages: Too many additives for a 'healthy' alternative & EXPENSIVE!!

...Review of Kellogs Nutri Grain Soft Oaties This is a relative newcomer to the Nutri Grain stable of sweet snacks and biscuits. The product comes in two flavours, oat and fruit, oat and chocolate. It is the Oat and Chocolate version that I am reviewing. **The Product** A round shaped cookie style biscuit, individually wrapped. The product comes in a box containing five x 40g cookies. The Nutri Grain range can usually be found among the 'breakfast bar' products in most supermarkets. The range is marketed as an alternative 'healthy' snack or breakfast replacement. I purchased the product on impulse as they seemed ideal for taking on walks as a quick and easy snack. The price I paid was 99p for 5 at Tesco. This was an introductory offer, so the product will retail for a higher price of £1.59 once the offer has ended. ***I... Read review

Fruit-filled cardboard to start your day
Review of Kelloggs Nutri-Grain [TV Advertisement] by  superpricee

Advantages: Filling little snack with added vitamins, which the advert points out quite well
Disadvantages: Bit like chewing a bar of cardboard. Which is conveniently overlooked.

...Hey, I'm getting the hang of this now!! After a couple of ops about chocolate, I thought I'd write another food-type op, although I've kind of been forced to put it in a section about TV adverts. Well, I'll cover that too. This time around I've decided to share my views on something I actually eat every day - Nutri-Grain bars. Nutri-Grain bars (from this point referred to as NGB as it's a bugger to type) are actually quite hard to classify - they're not chocolate (obviously), they're not really a "sweet", and they're not quite a cereal bar either. Officially, Kellogg's classify them as "morning bars" which actually works quite well, as I usually have one for breakfast! As with Kellogg's boxes of cereal, NGBs are laced with vitamins and minerals necessary for a healthy lifestyle - the adverts for the product boldly state... Read review
