ARRIVAL AND CHECK IN
'
We arrived on Saturday morning 12th August 2006 at around 11am and although you are not able to book in until 2pm, the staff at the hotel are fantastic. They gave us the parking permit and told us we could come back at 12.30pm, as the room would be ready then. We parked up and went off for an hour or two around the harbour, which is situated about two minutes walk from the hotel. The staff are very warm and friendly and the overall appearance of the reception area is very clean, tidy and well maintained.

Paignton : )
Review of Paignton by
torranhippychick
Advantages: Easy to find your way round, sea air, lots of pubs lol
Disadvantages: Gets busy, seagulls, sometimes expensive
...Paignton is situated in Torbay between Brixham and Torquay. It’s a busy wee town with plenty to do, it has a quaint charm and is easy to find your way round. A favorite holiday venue particularly with the older generation most people are very friendly. There are many different types of accommodation available in the area. If you’re planning on exploring the whole of Devon having a car is a major advantage but public transport is very good for tourists. But parking is a major problem around Paignton, there are car parks but they get pricey.
Shops
The London Camera Exchange on Hyde road is a must for any tourist who has forgot there camera or needs a new SD card. The staff are all friendly and know what their talking about, they don’t try and push an un-needed sale upon you like so many shops.
The Celtic Bookshop also on Hyde...

Family holiday spot
Review of Paignton by
ashton08
Advantages: Lots for the family to do
Disadvantages: English weather
...Paignton (pronounce Pain-tun) got its name from Paega's Town , the original Celtic settlement. There were a couple of spellings (Peynton, Paington) before the finally settled on the name we know today.
History;
A village believed to be dated back to 700AD and is mentioned in the Doomsday book in 1086. Paington remained a small fishing village until the 19th Century, when in 1837 a harbour was built for the town. The original harbour still exists today, although exteneded over the years. It is now a thriving tourist spot, with its many hotels and long sandy beach.
Places to Visit;
-The railway line was opened in 1859, linking Paignton and Torquay with London. Now operated as a heritage railway. Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway operates from Paignton to Kingswear, passing the sea and the River Dart.
-The...

A fantastic zoo
Review of Paignton Zoo [TV Advertisement] by
SusanLesley
Advantages: Happy, healthy, protected animals.
Disadvantages: A bit steep in places
...I will begin by saying that I have posted this opinion here although I know that it has nothing to do with the adverts for Paignton Zoo, because the categories in Ciao don’t really allow for attractions in anything other than the main cities. If anyone from Ciao happens to read this and sees fit to move it to a more suitable place – please do so with my gratitude.
Anyway – on to the opinion…….
If you are ever in the area of Paignton I would recommend a visit to Paignton Zoo. It is one the best zoos that I have ever had the pleasure to visit.
I intend to tell you about our day there, but I won’t go into details about every individual animal as this sort of information can be found on the website at www.paigntonzoo.org.uk. Instead I shall endeavour to give you a feel for the place by describing...

A shitsu...I think not!
Review of Paignton Zoo by
leofluffy69
Advantages: great animlas, a lovely family day out
Disadvantages: cockroaches roam free!
...My dad's work place organise family days out for the family of staff. OK so my sister and I are now adults but that has never stopped us. A trip to the zoo is as enjoyable for adults as it is for children. I have been to Paignton Zoo several times as a child, teenager and adult and to be quite honest have enjoyed every visit. I think my best visit however was with my sixth form on an A level biology trip, where we managed to split off from our teacher led groups and get our faces painted. We visited the zoo yesterday along with my fiancé, unfortunately I could not lose him in the ape enclosure….the apes wouldn't have him ;-)
I am always a bit funny about zoos. I hate the thought of these creatures being locked away for entertainment. I feel quite guilty about pointing and laughing at the funny things they do, however Paignton Zoo...

No Penguins but so many animals.
Review of Paignton Zoo by
spottydog2
Advantages: Takes all day. Lovely animals, as natural as possible environment.
Disadvantages: A bit expensive but worth it.
...I had a lovely day with my family at the Zoo yesterday. This positive experience was enhanced by the fact that my husband was given free tickets and £3 each towards food by his employers. We did bump into a few of his colleagues there as the tickets had to be used on that one particular day. It was an exremely enjoyable day.
About Paignton Zoo.

Paignton Zoos correct title is in fact Paignton Zoo Environmental Park and it is in Devon. They are a registered charity and have also done a lot of work at the Zoo towards conservation. They have a successful breeding programme and have bred lots of rare and unusual birds as well as other animals. They recycle what they can and save water. They have waterless urinals and they use collect rainwater to water plants. They use solar water heating...

The Zoo!
Review of Paignton Zoo by
ajaybie
Advantages: Lots to see
Disadvantages: Not so good in the rain
...I have just enjoyed a lovely day at Paignton Zoo! I suppose it is primarily a kid's place, but in my opinion it's a great place for people of all ages to visit, and there are far worse ways to spend the day than at the zoo! I don't know if any of you watched a series called Zoo Keepers, on a few years ago? Well, it was filmed at Paignton Zoo, so some of you may recognise it.
LOCATION AND PRICE
Paignton Zoo is located in Paignton, South Devon. For directions you can see their website. Prices are as follows:
Adult: £11.35
Child (3-15): £7.60
Student/Senior Citizen: £9.35
Family (2 adults+2 children): £34.10
These prices all include a contribution to the zoo's newest project, Crocodile Swamp. I don't know when this will be open, but it sound interesting, crocodiles are about the only thing they don't currently have!
The zoo...

A Brilliant Day Out
Review of Paignton Zoo by
KerriLou
Advantages: Great Day Out
Disadvantages: Food Expensive
...Last Sunday my boyfriend Tim, my sister Emma, my nephew Ricki and myself decided to go on a jaunt to Paignton Zoo. Tim had been before with his parents when he was younger but wanted to see what had changed. So we all packed into the car and off we went.
**How to Get There**
By Car: Paignton Zoo is on the A3022 Totnes Road. Once in Paignton it is easy to find by following the tourist signs. Car parking is free and there is also ample disabled parking.
By Train: the nearest stations are Paignton and Torquay but you will have to catch a bus the rest of the way.
By Bus: Stagecoach and First Western National run services directly to the zoo. People travelling by bus are entitled to a 10% discount on the entry price when they produce a valid bus ticket.
**Entry Price**
It is quite expensive to get in, especially if you...

NEVER JUDGE A HOTEL BY ITS OUTWARD APPEARANCE
Review of AMBER HOTEL Chemnitz Park, Chemnitz by
RICHADA
Advantages: Price. Food. Service. Comfort. Quiet. Location.
Disadvantages: Looks like an Office Block!
...WHY DID WE BOOK THE AMBER HOTEL CHEMNITZ?
Requiring a convenient hotel to stay in overnight on our return from Poland in May, we discovered the Amber Hotel whilst searching for hotels adjacent to E40 (the main East / West continental route) in the Chemnitz area. Last year we stayed in a hotel called the Drei Shwanen, previously reviewed - about five miles to the south west of here. The Amber looked perfectly situated (and easy to find) very close to a motorway junction.
The fact that it was a four star hotel offering a double room on the Saturday night for a mere 68 Euros made it all the more attractive!
HOTEL DESCRIPTION / OUR PERCEPTION FROM HOTEL PUBLICITY
From the hotel website this looked like a "Eurostandard" (read bland!), modern, business hotel. A four star hotel with 103 rooms, I have to admit that it was the very...
