Palace back in business
Review of Crystal Palace by Lenny_man

Advantages: Exciting Football
Disadvantages: The parking isn't too smart

...With Crystal Palaces off the field problems looking to be sorted out once and for all, its time for South London to get behind the Eagles. Speaking as a season ticket holder, I can promise you that a day down at Selhurst will be enjoyable, and entertaining. Last season may have been a struggle, but with a number of highly rated youngsters, the football was quick and attack minded. If you're in the London area around the 20th August pop down and bring the kids, you won't be disappointed as the Eagles play their first home game of the season, a derby against QPR.... Read review

A birds eye view
Review of London Eye, London by NIKNAKy2k2

Advantages: Get to see London from above
Disadvantages: A long queue (for me)

...so there is a view from north, east, south and west. At first I could get a very clear view of the River Thames and as I moved up, other sites began to come more clear like Big Ben, Canary Wharf, St. Pauls, Buckingham palace and many more. As I came down a photograph from the centre of the Eye was taken for me to buy. The picture was £5.00. A flight on the London eye takes 30 minutes. It was definetly a good day out and no wonder it is one of London's successful attractions. If you're going to London then this is a place well worth going.... Read review

A Wheel Of Fortune
Review of London Eye, London by chriscoxie

Advantages: The View, The Peace and the wonder of it all
Disadvantages: The Price!

...What is 135m High, and Round? The London Eye! You know, that thing which now stands proudly on the River Thames, Higher than Big Ben and the House of Parliament, it is London's Must See Attraction! The Eye is Amazing, Brilliant, Super, words really can't describe, the amazing views you get from it! Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, St Pauls, The Millennium Dome, Canary Wharf, the list is endless. This may be one big spinning observation station, but its fun, enjoyable, and darn right eye opening. The wheel slowly moves around with your pods, which hold 25, hang on the outside, slowly turning with the wheel so that you stay upright! The Pods are mainly all glass, so you can see all over London from any position, and the cleverly places North, South, East and West signs, help you know what direction you are looking! It is a magical experience... Read review

THE MOST HAUNTED BUILDING IN LONDON
Review of Tower of London, London by Versatile

Advantages: See op
Disadvantages: See op

...is the most haunted building in London ~ famous sightings of the ghosts of Anne Boleyn and Sir Walter Ralegh. The Tower was not just a palace of execution it also served as a royal palace.William the Conquerer began its construction in 1078,building the central keep, known as thw White Tower. The White Tower has recently been restored and includes a beautiful 12th century Chapel of St John. Most of the world famous Crown Jewels are kept in the Jewel House, jewels dating back to 1660.Queen Victoria`s Imperial State Crown has many famous jewels but none so well known as the Koh-i-Noor(Mountain of Light)diamond on the Queen`s Mother crown. There are many other attractions within the Tower including the Fusiliers Museum ~ the medieval Palace and the Wall Walk... Read review

London - great Capital city
Review of London in general by BIGHORSE

Advantages: Something for everyone
Disadvantages: So large that many of the finer points are so easy to miss!

Racing Madness
Review of Midtown Madness 2 (PC) by evansuk

Advantages: Great detail and unique vehicle handling
Disadvantages: Slowdown may occur if using an older graphics card

...Personally I think this game is great. Each vehicle handles in it's own unique way. Vehicles include a variety of cars, trucks and buses, all with a choice of paintjobs. The player has a choice to either race in London or San Francisco. The London level is the best for the scenery whereas San Fran is the perfect city for big jumps. If you are witty enough you can actually jump the whole city and land on Alcatraz! but you have to know your stuff! The London level allows you to use the London Underground to travel from A to B quickly - Just watch those trains! Game modes include Cruise, Curcuit Racing, Checkpoint, London Cabbie and Stunt Driver, all of which are enjoyable, particularly the London Cabbie "Knowledge" level. In this level you drive a black cab and you are required to reach a certain destination in London in a given time... Read review

It's not because I'm a Londoner
Review of London: A Short History - A.N. Wilson by mikefnw75

Advantages: Excellent insight into London, short and accessible
Disadvantages: Selection of photographs could have been better.

...is a clever metaphor for Wison to start his history, for he too is delving beneath the surface to show us hidden secrets. 2 New Troy or Roman London? This chapter looks at how London dervied the term the New Troy. It also highlights the abdunant traces of Roman London that remains today. This chapter perfectly highlights Wilson's ability to transform a familar journey or sight into something new. The next time you take the bus from Selfridges to Marble Arch remember this is the path those condemned to be hanged took while ploughing their way through a baying mob. How long is this chapter? 3 and a half pages! 3 Norman London This focuses on two places I'm sure many of you have been to visit: Tower of London and Westminster Abbey. We are reminded of the many roles the Tower has had: a royal palace, a treasury and the Royal Mint. 4 Chaucer... Read review

"Cool" city
Review of London in general by cathy144

Advantages: loads to see and do
Disadvantages: Dirty, polluted

...I love London, what a great city. Theres so much to see and do with all the sights from Buckingham Palace to the Planetarium to the Science Museum (whatever turns you on) Not to mention all the cool shops especially the markets like at Covent Garden, and shops and restaraunts, you really are spoiled for choice. The only problem is that so many people think so and so many tourists want to check it out that its becoming a little crowded and full of smog. It also needs a good clean up. Quite often when you go abroad there are dedicated groups of cleaners who spend all day sweeping and cleaning up rubbish. When will London realise this is what we need... Read review

An Exciting Experience
Review of London Eye, London by Jamie73

Advantages: Get a unique view of London, reasonably priced
Disadvantages: Have to share the capsule with other people.

...with 20 odd people in our capsule which was a pleasant number as everyone has more then enough room to move around without getting in each others way. The complete journey takes around 35 minutes which I felt was plenty of time to view all the famous landmarks. The panoramic views across London are magnificent. One thing I really enjoyed about my journey on the London Eye was that fact that because you are always moving in the capsule, you get views that are constantly changing. Once you reach the halfway point of your journey on the Eye you begin to see all the famous landmarks which include Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, St Thomas Hospital, Westminster Abbey, The River Thames, St Pauls Cathedral, The Gherkin Office block, County Hall and the Serpentine River among others. There are some great opportunities for photos... Read review
