...I enjoyed Majorca so much the first time around that I went back the following year! It is a beautiful and the largest of the islands and I would always recommend this for anybody's first holiday abroad. Palma is a beautiful place and the trip to the resorts is very beautiful and relaxing. Palma is also the main marina and always have lots of expensive yachts on view and where you would board your cruise should you be taking a 2 centre holiday. I have always stayed in Calis de Mallorca, a really nice place with fantastic scenery and nightlife. There is something to do here for everyone and there is always a supply of english food should you require it. (BUrgerking). Excursions are always laid on and I recommend a ride on the 'banana boats' for a great laugh.... Read review

Disadvantages: One of the furthest points from the Capital and the airport

...Callas De Mallorca is one of the best hot spots to go to in Mallorca if you are on a family excursion. Calas de Mallorca is child friendly in many ways but still has a lot to offer the older generations. Much of the activity in Calas de Mallorca happens in the plaza area. Here is where you will find all the shops, restaurants, banks, and just about everything else you need. There are souvenir shops which are pretty good, although I wouldn't rate the clothing or the shoe shops highly. Many of the bars an restaurants are situated on the lower floors with shops dotted in between and taking up the higher floor. The plaza itself is made up of two squares built on two floors with walkways connecting the upper levels as you stroll over the mini golf course. My base was just outside Palma, and I grew to love the island and the people there very much, with their warm Spanish mentality, and welcoming ways. ...I have visited Santa Ponsa over 10 times, since I was little and still enjoy going there. --Location-- Santa Ponsa is located on the south-western coast of Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands. ...I love Mallorca!!! I have been going there once to twice a year for the last 3 years and it never gets old! I have stayed in 2 different resorts. Palma Nova (on the south coast near Palma) and Alcudia (on the east coast). Personally Palma Nova was better, but not by much. The reason I keep going back to Mallorca is because it is the most beautiful place you have ever seen, the nightlife is superb and there is so much stuff to do! Scenery - The island of Mallorca is quite small, around 60miles across, but you really get some outstanding scenery. You see huge, steep mountains, smooth rolling hills, cliffs and lovely beaches. Nightlife - In Mallorca, just go for a stroll along the beach front at night and see all of the lights illuminating the sea, the people walking by all having a good time and the music coming from all directions... ...Great Location & Great Staff 05/05/2007 - 12/07/2007 approx £100 per room, per night B&B. First time we have stayed at this hotel but have used the Sol Melia Group throughout Spain before. The hotel is located on the Paseo Maritimo in Palma and has excellent views over the marina and Bay of Palma and is about a 20 minute stroll to the centre of Palma. Ideal for visiting the bars and restuarants of the old town at night and the beautiful city of Palma during the day. There is also a good range of bars, cafes etc along the Paseo Maritimo if the 20 minute walk is an issue. The facilities were good especially the pool area which was spotless, had plenty of space and the best pool bar staff I've met in a long time. ...I have just returned from a weeks holiday in Calas de Mallorca, with my family including 3 youngsters aged between 7 and 14. As this was the first family holiday for 5 years, and the first time the boys have flown, I wanted it to be special. The travel agent was very helpful finding a holiday within our budget and with plenty for the children. So in June we found ourselves jetting out of Leeds aiport to Palma. The main problem with the outward journey was because it was a night flight, the children were up all day, all the night and cranky for the first day of the holiday. The coach journey between Palma and Calas de Mallorca took just over an hour and a half, with the travel rep complaining all the time that she was tired!!! .... Our stay was on a half board basis and we found the restaurant to be very pleasant with more than adequate choice at dinner but a little sparse for British taste, at breakfast. However, the food was always very well presented, ample and wholesome so no real complaints (after all we choose to holiday in the country!) The bar terrace and a'la carte eatery offered a 10% discount for hotel guests. There was also a very small covered pool in the garden area. The hotel was only a very short walk from the bus station with services to neighbouring resorts and the cities of Manacor and Palma. Buses were frequent and reasonably priced though time keeping was not a strong point! We used the services to Palma (1hr), Calas de Mallorca (20 mins), Sa Coma (15 mins), Cala Millor (20 mins). ...of thing. In the old parts of the town you get to see small alleys, beautiful palaces and inner courtyards as well as small historic squares. The town hall which is called ‘Ajuntament’ is really amazing with its splendid façade and it is found on the Placa Cort, which is one of the most important places in Palma. When it comes to nightlife the RIU Center is probably the best known and most popular place for party people. It’s on the famous ‘Playa de Palma’ and contains the huge disco ‘Riu Palace’ that can take up to 2000 people and is especially overcrowded at weekends. - The Tramuntana mountains are definitely worth a visit. There are small, pretty villages like Banyalbufar and Estellencs with their terassed gardens which sometimes extend right up to the ocean. - Then there is Soller, of course, a must for Mallorca... ...We visted the Hotel Armadams for our honeymoon back in October 2006 for a short break to take in the sights and sounds of Palma. It is situated one "block" away from the main promenade in Palma, a road lined on one side with bars, hotels, shops and the marina and harbour area on the other. I am not a great Spanish speaker, infact I know only the most basic of phrases to muddle through, but the staff were very understanding and very helpful, even though we weren't checking in until really late following a delayed flight. The room was exceptional. Clean crisp tiled floors beautufully airy which really made a good first impression.
