Exam Success!
Review of Member Advice on Revision for Exams by
bluejules
Advantages: You get the grades you deserve
Disadvantages: It can be tedious
...'s without doing any work but it really isn't very likely. Hard work really does pay off. If you put lots of effort in you will reap rewards when you get your results :-) I will be the first to admit that sometimes I haven't put enough effort into my work and my results have reflected this. Throughout my A-level courses I had to re-sit some exams in order to improve my grades - I put more effort in and got higher grades out!
~ I ~
Intelligence - it is a great advantage if you are really intelligent, but good exam results are not down to intelligence alone. Exam technique, effort and hard work will all play a huge part in passing your exams. Don't think 'I'm not intelligent so I can't do well in my exams' as this really isn't the case. You can do well in your exams - just be willing to work for it!
~ J ~
Jolly - try and stay happy...

Write an online exam in less than an hour
Review of Brainbench Online Exams by
rambo
Advantages: wide range of courses to choose from, you will know your results there and then, the big name employers recognise Brainbench
Disadvantages: Not Free(Cost $8), new users might find the testing interface a bit strange, takes time to ship the certificate bearing in mind that i am still waiting for mine.
...[UPDATED*]
I did two Brainbench exams last year; Microsoft Word 2000 and written English and i am pleased to say that i succesfully passed them after many attempts. A basic exam costs $7.95 (U.S.), which will include the cost of the certificate itself, as well as shipping and handling. In early March, the company will be charging $19.95 (U.S.) for certification tests which will include the paper certificate as well...a package worth $58 or more!
There is a wide range of courses to choose from; from healthcare to computing to management you name it. Registration is free and before you take any exams, you will be given a questionnare which of course, you can omit.
The test interface has been modified and new users might find it dificult to navigate the site. You are given four questions of which you must choose the correct...

3. Multiple Choice Question Cards – for the first two papers in ACCA, you are provided with a bank of cards, which are an excellent revision tool.

Review of Member advice on Passing your Practical Driving Test by
lesleyanne18
Advantages: i passed with flying colours - the 4th time lol
Disadvantages: took me 4 times
...After reading loads of reviews on here, i can now write my own review on passing the driving test. I finally passed in 08/08/08 - COOL DATE EH?
After 4 attempts at the driving test, i finally passed 4th time round. I hated the thought of doing the driving test for such a long time, at first i even wondered why i was even out learning, cause i was dreading the big exam at the end.
So.. at 21 i started out on my driving lessons in Derry in Northern Ireland, using a great instructor Dennis Martin - www.classicschool.co.nr
I started off very nervous, which made me not pick up things for a good while, but after a while i finally got the hang of it.
after 1 YEARS AND HALF OF LESSONS :( i finally applied for my first test ...
on the day of my first test, i was grand, happy and no nerves whatsoever, so off i went, and all was going...

Don't Let Exams Get You Stressed
Review of Member Advice on Revision for Exams by
DebzJ
Advantages: There is a lot of material available to help you
Disadvantages: It has to be done and is boring
...Well, first off revision can be a scary thing especially when you have exams looming, which are even scarier! You know that they are really important, which is why you need to know what you’re doing when it comes to revising. Flitting from one subject to another, working solidly for ten hours and staying up all night before your exam is not going to help! Believe it or not revision needs to be mixed with fun stuff, and before you start to revise the first thing you need is a timetable.
Your timetable should go from when you start your revision (could be the day you plan it out, or you might plan it out a week in advance) and take it up to the end of your exams. Have the day and date down the left-hand side, and along the top have columns with morning, afternoon and evening. These times of day could be a set time, for example...

BEAT THE EXAM BLUES
Review of Member Advice on Exam Pressure by
Simmer
Advantages: advantages to stress... none!
Disadvantages: could actually make you do badly
...Exams can be extremely stressful, everybody knows that, but there are certain strategies that you can use to keep this stress minimal.
Getting completely worried and stressed out about the exams is obviously not a good idea. A lot of people do not realise that getting too worried can actually minimise your chances of success. Many of my teachers have told us about some the brightest of students freezing up when a test paper is put in front of them.
* The first thing to do is to make sure that you know your course. Ask your teachers which topics the exams will cover, and make a topic checklist. Go over work that you have done in class, and spend extra time on bits that you struggle with.
* Start revising early. Panicking when you realise that you only have a few weeks of revision time left is not good. While it may not always...

BPP Education - The way to pass exams
Review of BPP Accountancy Courses by
gazza166
Advantages: Wide range of courses, dates, locations and people!
Disadvantages: None yet...
...I have now studied with BPP for nearly two years, and so far they have got me through my exams all first time.
They offer a wide range of courses, and a well defined 'path to success'. Their standard study courses are often packed into a short times, but the syllabus is well covered and the lecturers experienced in the subject and area, meaning that they apply the knowledge to get you through the exams, apply it to real life, and make it more interesting. (They also do home study courses, but I would recommend taking a class course if at all possible due to the content)
The Revision courses are a must for any student, as they are focussed on applying the knowledge and getting past the exams. BPP offer a variety of dates and courses (some just questions, some refresher/question courses) both in the week and at weekend. They also...

Excellent books for Exam Success
Review of Heinemann A-level Revision Guides - Heinemann Exam Success by
bluejules
Advantages: Interesting, bullet points, good diagrams
Disadvantages: Not in colour, some parts not detailed enough
...Revision can be really dull sometimes. There's nothing worse than having a huge pile of notes or a thick textbook and not knowing where to start with revision. Having two A-level exams and some AS level re-sits in January, I need something that will keep me on task as well as enable me to learn all the material required.
That's where these books come in. I have four of them: 2 AS and 2 A2 (Biology and Chemistry.) The AS books each have three modules notes and each A2 have 2 modules notes.
I found these books in the library at school but they only had the chemistry ones. I decided I would buy the biology ones so I have my own copies and while I was purchasing them I thought I might as well get the chemistry ones too.
*Advantages*
The books are really good. They are specification specific, which means that all the material...

A to Z Exam Survival Plan
Review of Member Advice on Exam Pressure by
Adelynxv
Advantages: Helps to beat the revision stress the smart way.
Disadvantages: Not suitable for last minute studying
...and rest well.
I – Indulge yourself. All work and no play, will make you go crazy. Reward yourself if you had been working really hard over the week. A chocolate bar or a trip to the cinemas can be a great reward.
J – Jazz up your notebooks and revision books. Black and white is very boring and makes you frustrated. Highlight important facts with coloured pens and highlighters. Draw pictures relevant to the subjects you are studying to make you remember better.
K – Keep a checklist. Tick off the syllabus that you have already gone through. Also check your pencil case to make sure you have enough stationeries required for the exam.
L – Laugh. By laughing and smiling, your brain releases endorphins. These hormones help to lighten up your mood and make you feel much better. Try reading a short joke or comic strip every 2 hours interval...

Advantages: Easy to use, interactive, friendly
Disadvantages: Can be boring!
...The online BBC Bitesize website is very good for learning the basics very quickly. The website covers all areas of every syllabus and prepares you for your GCSE exams no matter which exam board you use.
The website is very easy to use and navigate around. The website covers the following subjects:
