Prague is such a picturesque city
Review of Prague (Czech Republic) by bazza1603

Advantages: Cheap place to visit.Far nicer than expected
Disadvantages: Language not easy to understand or speak. But most speak english

...I visited Prague in March 2000 with my girlfriend. We arrived in Prague after a 3 hour flight from the UK via Amsterdam for £150 incl tax ex Newcastle. The journey time time to the city with a Limo whcih we booked with our hotel , took 30 minutes and cost only £12.00 plus TIP.I would recommend booking the limo service if possible, as taxis in Prague can be expensive as unscrupulous drivers can charge toursits what they feel like. Prague is a very compact city, and therefore I would not recommend hiring a car. Most of Prague is connected on a tram system which is beneficial way of traveling. You can buy a tree day ticket whcih is also valid on the bus and underground for only £3.00.You can also walk around Prague , but beware of the banks...they are steep than they look!!!!Or is it just we being unfit??The clime to the top is worth... Prague - delights and dangers
Review of Prague in general by Okocha

Advantages: Beer, Food, Architecture, Price
Disadvantages: Dangerous in certain areas, becoming over-visited

...Prague is a growing city for tourism and rightly so as it is a superb attraction. From my experience there a few years ago, it is important to highlight a couple of factors which i feel important. TRAVEL U Concheta Prossem Vistu Panastu Cuduvetish Ameerai! I have no idea what it means either but you will be fascinated by the phrase whilst travelling on the excellently efficient Metro system, trying to learn all the station names including Opotov, which, no matter what the weather, has the fiercest wind ever to strike you when you exit from the station. It is very easy to find your way around the city DELIGHTS The delights of Prague are well known, beautiful architecture, Wenceslus Square, friendly locals, variety of hotels. Make sure you take in the lovely Old Town and enjoy the view from the castle on a hill. There a lot... Read review

The most beautiful place in Europe
Review of Prague in general by Marie

Advantages: Absolutely beautiful
Disadvantages: Lots of people handing leaflets for concerts etc!

...I visited Prague last November - perhaps the wrong time to visit weather wise - I think Christmas with snow would be better than Summer - where the temperatures rise to the extreme. The drive in to Prague from the Airport didn't look promising - the whole area looked run down and tired. However, when we ventured out from checking into our hotel, we wondered around the city and marvelled at the beautiful Architecture and the very cosmopolitian atmosphere of the City. The castle overlooks the whole City and the whole place has a wonderful ambience - it doesn't feel like youre in Europe! The food and drink is incredibly cheap - you just try the mulled wine which all the street vendors sell and the dumplings are a must!... Read review

Affordable Luxury
Review of Radisson Sas, Prague by Fatbloke

Advantages: Excellent location and all the required creature comforts
Disadvantages: Can get expoensive

...This is a great hotel in an excellent location just of Wenselalas Square, the main ‘road’ in Prague. Everything is within walking distance, apart from the castle which is a short underground ride away. The hotel is decorated in an art-deco style and as you would expect is very luxurious. The bar is large and spacious with a good selection of drinks. The buffet breakfast is very good and filling and will keep you going for hours. If you are there for a weekend they do offer upgrades at very reasonable prices which are worth thinking about. If you are a member of the SAS frequent flyers scheme you can earn miles staying here. Not the cheapest hotel in Prague but probably one of the nicest.... Read review

Czech this out
Review of Prague in general by sjl02

Advantages: Beautiful place, amazing sights round every corner, lots of culture
Disadvantages: Some really bad accomadation, hygiene in a few bars / restaurants is lacking

...Prague is a magical place, a massive mix of different architectural styles and elements of past rulers dominate this lovely city. I visited Prague for 5 days on a tour of Europe. On arrival from Munich after a few days at the Oktoberfest, relaxation and chilling out was my number one priority. The train from Munich takes about 4 hours and on the approach, you get to see the real side of this country, which is a bit of a mix. There's quite a bit of industry which does nothing to help their countryside. On arrival in Prague station, which isn't the nicest of places, I'd been told that at the station would be waiting a load of touts trying to get me into their so called hotels and so there was. I was silly enough to fall for this twice as the 2 hotels that I was persuaded to stay in by these guys were absolutely terrible, but about £5... Read review

Sieber Hotel, Prague
Review of Sieber, Prague by ikkin1981

Advantages: Great location, great price, beautiful rooms
Disadvantages: None

...Hotel Sieber and the building in which it is located belong to the Sieber family. Hotel Sieber is situated in a quiet street in Vinohrady, a peaceful part of Prague centre. It is very near the Wenceslas square, just 15 minutes walking distance or 2 metro stations. Hotel Sieber provides its services mostly for business clientele, but is suitable for those tourists who prefer friendly and comfort accommodation in small and luxury hotel. We stayed here in August 2006 and would highly recommend it, a great find for those who come across it. The hotel is a lovely old building, refurbished in great style (apart from the old lift). As the room rates were so reasonable we opted for a junior suite which was lovely. A huge walk in bathroom, very large bed and living area. Room rates start at just £60 per night. There is a mini bar in the room... Read review

Praha - City of Spires
Review of Prague in general by Pluto

Advantages: Great City
Disadvantages: Pickpockets

...I have spent some time in this beautiful city. It's really like a fairy Tale in places - the churches, spires, steeples etc - make it perhaps the most romantic city in Europe (I think more so than Paris) There are fascinating museums in Prague - some with English explanations. Western Europeans will find prices pretty cheap for a capital city. Prices outside of Prague are maybe 30% less. One thing that erally got under my skin there was the two tiered price system for Czechs and non-Czechs. Even at museums foreigners have to pay more than Czechs. Hotels too are pretty bad at that. However, don't let that ruin your stay. Enjoy the walk across Charles Bridge and all around the Castle. Enjoy the culture, the food and the excellent beer - I did! But also don't forget the rest of the country. Learn the lingo if you can - you... Read review

Good Op - er - a review on Prague State Opera
Review of State Opera by MAFARRIMOND

Advantages: Neo-classical architecture and wonderful entertainment.
Disadvantages: Steps leading to entrance

...-mail, or the Internet at the cost of 950 Czech Crowns (approx 24.00 pounds) for each ticket. Most reputable credit cards are accepted as well as of course cash. The opera will even deliver the tickets to your hotel for you to pick up when you arrive. Prague State Opera stands in Wenceslas Square opposite to the National Museum. According to the maps, it should be very easy to find with the metro station, Museum, being situated only minutes away. However, at the time of our visit, some sort of road works was taking place making the Opera House difficult to reach. The Prague Opera House opened on 5th January 1888 as a German theatre built to rival the Czech National Theatre. The theatre was then sold to the state in 1938 although the outbreak of WWII meant that very few concerts were staged at this time. Finally in 1992, it formally became known... Read review

Marriott Prague
Review of Radisson Sas, Prague by bazza1603

Advantages: Luxury hotel
Disadvantages: Location could be nicer

...I stayed in this hotel in March 2000.It rates as a good 4 star boarding on a five which I quite happly agree with. This hotel is very handy for both tube and trams routes( both less than a minutes walk and you cannot get lost).Limo service are available in nice modern Mercedes which the hotel own and cost only £12.00 each way plus tip to and from Prague Airport(30 minutes drive). Many tourist areas are within easy walk or tram ride. This hotel doesnot offer any outstanding views from its rooms, but saying that it still is it a area which i feel safe walking in at night. The hotel its self is what you expect from Marriott's upper ranges of hotels.Service is excellant, staff are very friendly but still formal in the way they speak to you.Staff couldnot be anymore helpful. The hotel it self was clean, well decorated and maintained... Perfect location
Review of Central Hotel Prague, Prague by tigermarkus

Advantages: great location, reasonable price
Disadvantages: beds not comfortable

...I have just returned from Prague having stayed at the Central Hotel on Rybna in June 2007 for 3 nights. I booked this online with Alpha rooms and was very happy with the deal I got for a 3 star hotel in such a good location. This hotel certainly lives up to its name as it is within 5 minutes walk of the old town square with the astrological clock, and also within 5 mins walk of Wenceslas Square. During my stay we walked all round Prague visiting the main sights such as Prague castle, Charles Bridge, Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. Everything is within such easy reach. The hotel is located down a quiet street in the old town and my room looked out onto a department store and the powder tower could also be seen - though it would depend on which side of the hotel your room was located as to the view you would have...
