Quality Street... more like Poor Quality Alleyway
Review of Nestle Quality Street by
breezes
Advantages: i suppose if you need chocolate they do the job
Disadvantages: just not as good as similar products (namely Roses)
...Did you know that Nestle was founded in 1866? I was quite surprised when I found that one out, because you would have thought that after nearly 150 years, they would have finally worked out how to make nice chocolates. It wasn't until the 1980s that they suddenly went around buying up all the great confectionary companies in other contries. Remember how nice Rowntree fruitgums used to be? Well if like me, you suddenly noticed their flavour go down hill, then that just happened to be the same timem that Nestle took over.
So you get the idea that I don't like Nestle that much then? Well you would be completley correct, so you won't be surprised when my opinion of Nestle Quality Street isn't particularly nice either.
A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY
The brand was introduced in 1936 and named after a JM Barrie play (of Peter Pan fame...

Quality Street, yum!!
Review of Nestle Quality Street by
leanne8686
Advantages: great variety, yummy taste
Disadvantages: need some white chocolate!!
...You and your family and the majority of the UK will probably buy a big tin of Quality Street or Roses at Christmas, For me its Quality Street all the way!!
So I decided to review these gorgeous chocolates that seem to have been around forever!
~The History~
Established back in 1936! When they were first launched a tin cost two shillings (10p).
'Quality Street' were named after a JM Barrie play and the two characters on the tin wre based on two characters from this play.
~Quality Street Facts~
The Nestle Rowntree factory that makes the sweets is based in Halifax, West Yorkshire; Nearly 7 million sweets are manufactured here every day!
Quality Street are now available in over 70 countries including Canada where they are very popular.
According to the Rowntrees website, the Purple Hazelnut in caramel chocolate is the most...

I ♥ Quality Street
Review of Nestle Quality Street by
just.bcoz
Advantages: Cheap, good selection of sweets to choose from
Disadvantages: Orange and Strawberry ones taste horrible
...Nestlé Quality Streets are delicious and are sold in a few different sized packages. Quality Streets are a firm favourite of mines because they taste great and there is a good assortment of chocolate in each box or tin. Nestlé Quality Streets were launched in 1936 and are still an extremely popular boxed twist wrap assortment.
Packaging
Quality Streets can be bought either in the form of a carton, jar or hexagonal shaped tin. You can buy a ~
*275g carton
*480g carton
*1.2kg hexagonal tin
*2.2kg hexagonal tin
*900g plastic jar
Even although Nestlé Quality Streets are sold in different sized cartons and tins the colour and logo of the packaging remains the same on each of them. They all still have the same bright purple coloured packaging with the bold white Nestlé Quality Streets logo printed on them. So...

Streets Ahead
Review of Nestle Quality Street by
bluefrog199
Advantages: nice selection
Disadvantages: nasty peanut cracknell. And dead children
...This Christmas, whilst wolfing down the traditional eight kilos of Quality Street, I tried very hard not to think about the fact that the manufacturer, Nestle, are responsible for the deaths of several thousand children a year due to their milk-marketing policies in the Third World. This wasn't so difficult when experiencing the delirious delights of a Caramel Cup ("mmmm - meltingly beautiful caramel - dead children are the last thing on my mind - mmmm"), but was more so when struggling through the gritty horrors of the quite frankly disgusting Peanut Cracknell ("ugh - the bitterness of this foul confectionary immediately brings to mind the evil-doers at Nestle and their irresponsible milk-marketing policies in the Third World - ugh"). Many of you no doubt suffered similar dilemmas.
I don't want this to turn into a tedious political...

A NEAT TREAT ON ANY STREET
Review of Nestle Quality Street by
stuleg
Advantages: It`s Chocolate
Disadvantages: They can be sickly
...I have never really gone for boxes of chocolates in a big way, mainly because you have no choice as to the contents of the box and have to take the chocolates you find less appealing with those you like. Never the less, when I was given a box of Quality Street by a friend last week I set about them with relish. And I have to say they were a thoroughly enjoyable alternative to my usual form of chocolate consumption, yes there are one or two that I found less enjoyable but they were outweighed by the decent mouth watering selections. As I received these as a gift I was not immediately aware of price details but a quick look on the Tesco website tells me the 480g box I was in possession of costs £3.28. The chocolates inside are an eclectic bunch but I’m sure there is something for everyone if sharing is unavoidable. I have reviewed each...

Quality's Treat
Review of Nestle Quality Street by
Sarcasm101
Advantages: Excellent choice
Disadvantages: Some people may find them a bit too sickly-sweet
...Nestle Quality Street is something you can crack open whether it’s Christmas, you’re having a party or you’re just in the mood to spoil yourself. With so many wickedly tempting varieties, it’s a timeless selection that never loses its appeal to me.
I am writing this with a newly opened box and generally feeling a bit sorry for myself (the kids have so far been off nursery for two weeks and it’s just starting to get on my nerves a bit).
So I thought to myself, rather than just stuff my face and feel worse for it, I would just stuff my face (or share, seeing as how Marc is right next to me!) and write a review about them at the same time. Perhaps this will make me feel a bit better too!
THE PACKAGING
Nestle Quality Street comes in a few different packages. You can buy these delicious sweets in large hexagon tins (hmm… I think it...

Review of Quality Street Big Green One Ice Cream Lolly by
susie191
Advantages: Very nutty if you like nuts.
Disadvantages: Very nutty if you don't!
...is a Quality Street Ice Cream Lolly on a Stick and they come in a pack of three. Sainsbury's currently have them on introductory offer for £1.49, I suspect they will be £1.99 for three when the offer ends. At this offer, they are 50p each, quite reasonable for a treat I feel. There are six persons in our house so I half suspected that the kids might beat me to the contents of the first boxful.
The box of ice cream lollies is in the familiar bright purple associated with Quality Street chocolates and toffees. The Big Green One has the metallic shiny green wrapper similar to that of its triangular chocolate from the QS range.
Who Gets the Treat?
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Later that day at the table, we've all eaten our dinner. 'Is there any proper pudding says child number 1? 'Ahem not today' I reply, 'you'll get fat if you have home cooked puddings...

Quality Counts.....
Review of Nestle Quality Street by
kwhyte
Advantages: well, they're chocolate aren't they!
Disadvantages: cheapy chocolate
...The battle of Roses and Quality Street commences........
QualityStreet and Roses- the two most saught after chocolates-in-a-tin for Christmas. Most people are either Quality or Rose, but I normally get both from various relatives (not that I'm complainging!)
Personally I am, and alwasy have been a Roses fan. This is mainly because Roses look and smell nicer. The tin wrapping used looks more expensive and also more practial. Unfortunately, Qaultiy Street choclates often are squashed into their wrappers either bofore you get them (in which case they're no longer soft- they're hard and basically un-edible) of you squash them whilst trying to prise them open. The prices are pretty similar and the tin they come in is virtually the same apart from the shape.
The main reason I think that Qualtiy Streets are bought so frequently...

Quality in a box!
Review of Nestle Quality Street by
SweetTooth93
Advantages: CHOCOLATE! Good variety. Different size containers. Yummy!
Disadvantages: You cant just have one!
...Its very rare that i recieve a box of Quality street chocolates, but boy, when i do they do not last for long. After babysitting my two little cousins last week, my Aunt and uncle decided to treat me: to a huge tin of Quality Streets. (Think they're trying to fatten me up). I was thrilled with my gift and couldnt wait to get stuck in!
The tin was octagonal and weighed a whopping 1.2kg. Im not sure how much this would have costed as i got it from somebody and im not rude enough to ask.
The tin was quite good looking, bright purple with QUALITY STREET written in white writing. There were also a few pictures of the sweets inside on top of the tin and around the sides.
Opening the tin, i didnt get a strong smell of chocolate, this was probably to do with the fact all the chocolates were wrapped up in foil paper. The tin...

TOP QUALITY CHOCOLATES
Review of Nestle Quality Street by
royray
Advantages: A RANGE TO CHOOSE FROM
Disadvantages: HAVING TO FIGHT FOR THE FAVOURITE
...As you know I absolutaly hate chocolates, cant stand them, (oh yeah right), thats why right now...
I think I am in heaven I am sat here with a massive box of chocolates, Quality Street of course, my daughter bought them for us for Christmas and in a temporary lapse of madness I forgot about them, I mean how could I forget such a wonderful, luscious present as big as this.
The box I have is a 1.7kg box and is too heavy for me to lift so my lovely hubby has perched them on the coffee table so I can talk to you about them and of course purely for on your behalf have the job of chief taster.
First of all the box cost £7.00 and it’s a hexagonal shape with the shapes of the chocolates sort of shaped out so you can feel each one and all the pretty colours are there,Green,Purple,Orange, Yellow.
At the top of the tin it says Quality...
