...Ok, so I bought the previous R&B yearbook in 2005 and thought it was alright, but listening to this one really lifted my impressions of R&B music. I saw the CD from a Tesco store near me for about £15 and decided to give it a shot, little did I know until I got to the checkout till that it was their last one in stock (just shows how popular it must have been). It contains mainly R&B music with some Hip-Hop, some Rap and even a little bit of Reggae in there as well! The first CD begins with a few of the biggest uplifting hits of the year in my opinion (Deja Vu, by Beyonce, and the wonderful Hips Don't Lie, by Shakira). Not to mention "Beep" by the Pussycat dolls ft. Will.I.Am (from the Black Eyed Peas). "Beep" is a nice number in a minor key, great to listen to at any time of day. ...Essential R&B.... let's see shall we... The first song on this album is Eamon's F*** it. Pretty good way to start the album, admittedly its an old tune now but it probably was the most popular and most played (well one of the) of 2004. Who didn't hear that song? It includes a lot of the most popular chart songs of 2004 and before, such as 50 Cent's In Da Club, R Kelly's Ignition Remix, another classic, and Usher's You got it Bad. The songs on the album are varied - there's a couple of hip hop type songs, a few slower songs that are more love songs than anything, and of course, a lot of R&B. The second disk starts with Outkast's Hey Ya, which gets the disk off to a good start! No Scrubs and Hot in Herre are also present, as well as, strangely, Natasha Bedingfield's Single? ...From the first time I heard the song "On My Knees", I knew The 411 were no average girl group. For one thing, they weren't producing the regulation bland pop that groups such as Atomic Kitten do with increasingly regularity - their music had a slight edge to it and, even just in that one track, they managed to convey more than one music style, while still appealing to the pop market. And their album, "Between the Sheets" shows more of the same. Disadvantages: Hard To Find Any, In My Opinion, There Could Have Been Different Songs.

...I've liked Anastacia since I first heard the track "I'm Outta Love" and instantly fell in love with it. Since then, I have liked most of the singles she has released, the funky "Paid My Dues" being my favourite. This song was the first release from her second album, "Freak of Nature" and was my reason for buying the cd in the first place. The opening and title track "Freak of Nature" provides a funky upbeat introduction to this album - a great beat and fantastic lyrics about how she's different from all the rest combine to make an unbelievably catchy track, although the talking at the beginning of the song is a little irritating. After this, the misleadingly slow and eerie sounding introduction of "Paid My Dues" (her best tune to date, as I said before) leads us into this very r & b style track with its fantastic music and strong... ...Kells really catches the attention of the audience by claiming that he is the "R" in R&B, in my own opinion this is a something he is capable of as he is one of the people I would name as a legend in this genre. This compilation is made up of two disks, the first of which features the best of his original tracks and the second has a few remixes and what was his newest song at the time "Thoia Thong". Disk 1 1. "Ignition (Remix)" **Five Stars** Classic club anthem. Everyone knows this one and is the best way to kick off the compilation, the track was new at the time and was very popular ad so it was the best way to start off the album; with a tune everyone is familiar with. 2. "Your Body's Callin'" **Four Stars** Great slow jam by Kelly; he knows how to do them best. Its a shame he doesn't do as much of this anymore... Read review

...that game' and heart tugging Christina Aguilera's 'Beautiful'. Yet my only reservation is that the album doesn't really fill the criteria of being a love album; where are boys to men? or Luther Vandross? Or any other of the infamous romantic R & B singers. In this respect it was a little disappointing. However, as an overall CD, it's good. If you like the featured artists, buy it. It's easy on the ears - definitely one that can be played in the background.... Read review

Advantages: A great album to get you in the mood for a night out

.... The song has an 80’s disco backing track, with a funky guitar riff and is a promising start to the album. Although this is not one of Kylie’s stronger songs, and there are still snatches of Stock, Aiken and Waterman, it is a catchy number and is guaranteed to set the toes tapping. We are transported back to 1984 with the track “Solid” by Ashford and Simpson. An Eighties disco classic, and a song that can lift my mood immediately, ‘Solid’ is a feel-good song, which reminds us how a strong relationship can make a person feel as though they can conquer the world. Touches of R&B made this song ahead of its time when originally released. Robin S provides the track “Show me Love", which was released in the early 1990’s, and re-released in 2002.
