Reviews of rain cover
The pick of the bunch
Review of Maclaren Europe Limited Triumph by
Sincy23
Advantages: Reflective Strips
Disadvantages: Small Shopping Net under the seat
...When our son got to a year old we started to look for a new buggie to follow on from the Mammas and Papas travel set we had.
We looked a a few but decided to go for the Maclaren. We looked at all the models and went for the Triumph as it was one of their best sellers and was also small enough to fit into the boot of the car and take on Holidays with us.
There are some great aspects of the buggy, such as the fact that it some with an easy to fit rain cover. Some of the other buggies did not have rain covers and some had a rain cover that was so difficult to fit you would end up soaked before you got it on.
It also had reflective strips on the back and side, something that made us happier with if walking with him on those dark short days in winter. A real saftey must have in my opinion.
One bad point of note is the net for carrying...

Weather Rage
Review of Poetry by
seagulls-lost-horizon
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: none
...To glance about, the open sky,
The wind, the rain, and wonder why?.
The moonlight silk, shines dark the night,
The clouds, to cover, the stars so bright.
To walk alone, with darkness blind,
The weather to this night’s unkind.
The thunder hear, and lightening strike,
Take upon the world, with such might.
The water beats, the window pane,
Howling wind gives speed to rain.
The gale taking much to sea,
Like matchstick made, would seem to be.
Electric flash in sky, and rage,
To tear apart the earth, man made.
Lay waste the wreckage of building block,
About the land, upon the rock.
The bitter cold, and thunder sounds,
To curse the people in homeward bound.
The animals run, to shelter find,
To cower within their frightened mind.
The path to lose, to mud in churn,
The storm takes all, and never to learn,
That comfort holds, in bed...

The distilled essence of the Balkans
Review of After the Rain: How the West Lost the East - Sam Vaknin by
mechanima
Advantages:
Disadvantages: Can wander a little too long and too far into obscurity
...The Author is currently financial advisor to the Macedonian Government
Using a variety of remarkably astute Political and Economical observations as the most transparent excuse Dr Vaknin has produced a portable pocket sized Balkan State. Cunningly fitted between the covers are remarkable vivid sketches of the still mysterious Balkans as they are today, "After the rain". All seen through the eyes of one of the last true "Wandering Jews". Every shade, colour and nuance is there, hard information, constantly interupted by the shifting colours of a reforming world on the brink of the 21st century. A world of heros, rogues and fools as old as time itself and as new as the morning. A very unusual and precious book....

It rains and B*Witched sing a nice song
Review of Blame It On The Weatherman - B*Witched by
schizochico
Advantages: Nice song, 2 versions and B-side
Disadvantages: No video
...The fourth fantastic single from the B*Witched girls. The song itself is fantastic, with amazing backing music, rain and brilliant vocals as well as lyrics. The B-side, Together We'll Be Fine, is nice, but I think is unmemorable, although one of the girls better B-sides. It also has an orchestral version of Blame It On The Weatherman, which is fantastic and shows off the girls' singing talents really well. There's no video, but I can understand that because it is from over a year ago when videos on CD's weren't as frequent as they are now. and as usual, the CD and cover are presented really nicely....

With or without rain, any time's right for Enya
Review of Day Without Rain, A - Enya by
quadruped
Advantages: Wonderful, blissfully fascinating
Disadvantages: too short!
...It's been too long since Enya's last album, The Memory of Trees. She does seem to take her time between albums, which I suppose isn't too surprising given that her work is all original; no covers, and I imagine all those effects and multi-layering takes time to record. Anyway, A Day Without Rain doesn't disappoint, apart from its relative brevity in these days of 16 - 20 tracks on most albums, and playing times of around an hour. It's surprising, therefore, that this has only twelve tracks. Nevertheless, it has twelve *quality* tracks. Wild Child is possibly the most 'commercial' here, and it's very good; I tend to prefer tracks such as Flora's Secret - wonderful imagery of the lovers in the long grass - and Only Time. Great to listen to: close your eyes and be carried away! Oh, and so what if this CD sounds similar to Enya's previous...

psp case
Review of Logitech PlayGear Pocket PSP Case by
shley
Advantages: protectiveness
Disadvantages: weight
...i supposably heard that this case was indistuctableand even BULLETPROOF ! not that im goin to try that myth out on my own psp but you could if you wished to ! now i think that this case is wicked , you drop your psp no harm done you accidently scratch the cover no harm to the psp's wonderfull screen but now i went to the seaside on day last year and it rained and somehow the car boot got flooded and guess what that is where my psp was so i recommend the cover and give it 10/10 for protectiveness against dropping and scratches but NOT against water ! the case itself is also a bit heavy but i think that its worth the weight for the amount of protection! Recommended p.s you can fold the top cover back to make a stand for watching movies !...

Things never really change
Review of Rain - Virginia Andrews by
bronwyn91
Advantages: good read
Disadvantages: much the same as others
...Rain is the story of a young girl and the problems she faces in her life. She lives with her parents, her older brother Roy and her sister Beni.
Firstly her dad is a drunk who has been known to hit her mum, they are a poor family and her dad tends to be out of work more than he is in work so her mum works long hours at the local store to make ends meet. Then she finds out that her parents aren’t her birth parents when they have an argument one night.
Her siblings take this in entirely different ways; her brother now sees her as an object of his desire whereas her sister thinks that it makes her different and tells all her friends about her. Her sister is a bit of a rebel and does many things that her mother would not approve of, all of the time Rain is covering for her, it all comes to a head when some boys get hold of photos...

MacLaren
Review of Maclaren Europe Limited Triumph by
jules.34
Advantages: Easy to fold up
Disadvantages: Dodgy brakes
...When my son was about 8 or 9 months I decided to buy him a buggy as he was getting big for the big pram I had.
I'd heard a lot of good reports about the MacLaren pram, so decided to go for this one.
I first noticed how light it was compared to the big bulky pram I used to have. It is also easy to fold - if I am going out in a car and need to put it in a boot, it's a great pram for folding.
My son is past the daytime sleep stage now, but when he did need a sleep, the pram can be reclined back so that baby can sleep. There is a hooded bit on the top, which I find handy if it is really sunny, or if it is rainy and my son won't keep the rain cover on.
The only thing I have never been able to use on the pram is the brakes - I have to hold the pram if I am on a bus with him.
The pram cost about £120, that included rain cover, foot muff...

A great little buggy
Review of Britax Verve by
Lini_M
Advantages: easy to fold & unfold; rain cover easy to put on; a joy to push; great value
Disadvantages: it can be wobbly; only reclines a few cm's; small basket
...I bought this as a second buggy and have found it really good! DS is 5 months and a little too young to be sitting upright for long periods of time, but as as he gets older I can see this buggy being used a lot! The Verve doesn't recline a lot so isn't great for long walks as baby can't lean back and go to sleep, but as a shopping buggy it is very good. Also, it folds almost flat which is great for travelling.
I'd say use the Verve from 6 months all the way up to 3years.
I got mine online and got a great deal.
- a little wobbly at times; the recline position doesn't go back enough for baby to have long naps; shopping basket very small (holds
rain cover but nothing else)
+ easy to fold and unfold; good value; easy to push (a joy on even surfaces); rain cover easy to put on; cosytoes very warm and great quality...

Quinny Zapp I love it!
Review of Quinny Zapp by
kirstymartin1984
Advantages: small and compact and lightweight
Disadvantages: rain cover is useless
...occasions that i have had real trouble in both opening and closing the pushchair, there is a 3 point closing system that takes a while to get used to generally is smooth to operate.
i have found that the rain cover for this item is useless, during one wet and windy trip to the shops i ended up chasing the rain cover down the street as it is not easily attached to the pram and i do not feel it is secure so i have purchased an alternative rain cover.
overall this pushchair is alot easier to manage than normal prams but i do feel that it is more of a dry weather pram and would be a fantastic holiday pram as it also comes with its own little bag but i have found that there is a nack to getting the pram into the bag which under pressure i feel could take some time and stress.
I am generally pleased with the item and have no idea how i managed...
