It don't take a Genius
Review of Genius SW 2.1 850 PC multimedia speaker system by  Macca3000

Advantages: Clear, Loud, Stylish, Inexpensive
Disadvantages: Short connection wires

...Feel like beltin' out your favourite tunes? Then look no further. This stylish 'plug & play' speaker system will let you rekindle memories of cherished hits with amazing fidelity. However, the true icing on the cake is its pricing. I got mine for a tad over £20 and I haven't looked back. The two smaller speakers give a maximum output of 3W each and the sub-woofer gives 14W of usable power. I bet most people will think 'wow, so what, it's only 3W, it's not that much is it?' That is where you are truly mistaken. When I first plugged in my new speakers I thought the same. In my infinite wisdom (…cough…) I decided to put it to around half volume. Next, I decided to pop on a bit of Rainbow; what a mistake. My house was rumbling like a Vauxhall Nova at 11pm. My mum jumped and dropped the Sky remote, which ended up breaking it - whoops... Altec 5100
Review of Altec Lansing 5100 by  Jaben

Advantages: Clear Crisp Sound (CCS) and Ultra Stylish
Disadvantages: Cable is too short

...and treble controls. I tested the speakers using my Sound card which is the Creative Audigy 2 ZS PLatinum Pro Card with the funky box and remote. I first tested the speakers using a DVD Film, and adjust the speakers settings individually using the THX set-up software which came with my soundcard. I even played Counter strike, Rainbow Six and Some Tomb Raider Game also. And last test was with music RAP, Hip hop, Classical and also Not forgetting UB40 and Stevey Wonder All i can say is wow wow wow. The clarity is amazing The sound never distorts even when you set the vloume to maximum. Considering the size of the sub, i am amazed at how well it sounds. Clear and thumping bass, maybe not earth shaking bass, but enough for you to enjoy a film, music or even play a game. At the moment they have been plugged into the downstairs projection tv... Rainbow
Review of Rainbow by  atmity

Advantages: The whole program - it's a real classic
Disadvantages: You never see anything off it anymore, and Rainbow Days... what a waste of time.

...Rainbow was first aired in 1974, and made by the lovely people at Thames Television, makers of such other classic programs as Sooty to name a few. Sadly however, you never see much of Rainbow anymore, it has been forgotten in archives, only to be watched by a few select people like myself on Thames home video collections. A petition was created however, planning to put this amazing program back on TV on Channel 5, which in my opinion would make it the best thing on the channel. If you've never seen Rainbow then you truely haven't lived, it was loved by children in the 70's and early 80's and rightly so. The main characters are: Zippy: One of the two puppets, so called because he has a zip for a mouth. He is an orangy colour, with only one hand. He is by far the best character because he is so naughty, and always makes snide comments... Read review

In Rainbows; an optimistic record from Radiohead?!
Review of Radiohead - In Rainbows by  tehfincheh

Advantages: Immediately accessible, beautifully crafted songs, pay what you want
Disadvantages: Not a landmark album by the band's standards

...Radiohead were not the first band to release their music digitally or free of charge. But to put it simply, they were the first band of international significance. Such was the reaction on the 1st October when a short blog post from guitarist, Jonny Greenwood, signalled the bands intentions for new download-only release, In Rainbows. "Hello everyone. Well, the new album is finished, and it's coming out in 10 days; We've called it In Rainbows. Love from us all." If the shock announcement of an imminent album wasn't enough, it was the pricing and distribution structure that would raise the coyest eyebrows. And so it did. There is no label and it has no price. You, the music fan, decide how much you want to pay for the record. It could be a penny, or ten, or £99.99. With the dawn of a new era, Radiohead laid down the gauntlet to record... Read review

Back to their best
Review of Radiohead - In Rainbows by  dtait07

Advantages: Leading the way, once again
Disadvantages: only 10 tracks (short by their standards)

Rainbow Brite
Review of Rainbow Brite DVD by  chugglebunny

Advantages: Cute and good moral teachings for youngsters
Disadvantages: Won't appeal as widly to boys

...As a now 21 year old Rainbow Brite brings back lovely memories of my youth. The story of a young girl who finds a rainbow belt, and with it can bring colour to the world. Characters include starlight, the white horse companion of rainbow, who using the rainbiow belt can ride on rainbows helping get from A to B a lot quicker! He is both charming and brave as a character, and even now I find myself wishing I owned him! Bad guys with names to suit such as lurky and Murky. Who bring a bit of extra humour to the show. All the adventures are easy to follow with a good moral message behind all, good always prevails and friendship and kindness are dipicted with the rainbow as its symbol. These short heartwarming stories apear timeless as many small children in my family still watch them thanks to it being released on DVD. I would recommend... Read review

Well Worth A Pot Of Gold
Review of In Rainbows - Radiohead by  okayblue

Advantages: Diverse. Uplifting. Powerful. Colourful. Frenzied. Beautiful
Disadvantages: It's...Not...Free?

..., by increasingly drastic and mellow tracks. Videotape is an otherworldly waltz through 'the pearly gates.' Thom's innocent voice pierces through the drumrolls and softly repeating piano line. This astonishing album ends 'because I know today has been the most perfect day I've ever seen.' Black This is a wonderful album. I feel upset that I can't really do it justice. It really needs to be listened to, again and again and again, with one speaker beside each ear. Eyes closed. Start to finish. Each track contributes to a whole, thematically and musically, and you get the feeling that this marvellous piece of poetry and music has been desinged as so. This is the best that the best band in the world has to offer. Buy it. With money. And listen to it again and again. And when you're finished, buy the discbox and listen to Ithe mysterious In Rainbows Part Two... Read review

A witch stole your arms and legs?!?
Review of Kirbys Canvas Curse (NDS) by  madlilnerd

Advantages: easy to learn controls, very cute, quite addictive
Disadvantages: recycled levels, easy to defeat enemies.

...tap to start, then choose one of three slots to save in (which is excellent, because it means family members or friends can share a cartridge). After that you get 5 buttons to choose from- Main Game, Rainbow Run, Subgames, Medal Swap and Options. Main Game is exactly what it says on the tin- the main portion of the games, where you complete a level made up of 3 stages and a boss game. Before you start to play, there’s a training mode, which is a great tutorial and really easy to work through, learning the extremely basic basics of the game. From then on, it’s pretty much plain sailing. The control system is incredibly simple and easy to learn, but takes a while to truly master, creating an engaging game. Each stage is packed with enemies to stun with your stylus and destroy by rolling into, as well as buttons to push, bombs to tap and so... Read review

SHARE AND SHARE ALIKE
Review of The Rainbow Fish - Marcus Pfister by  wife.of.a.ciao.member

Advantages: Colourful, morality tale
Disadvantages: Only ten pages, pricey

...How lovely is this book? It’s a board book, 10 pages long aimed at 2-6 year olds and I find it especially fulfilling to read at the end of the day just before my children get into bed. The book centres around a rainbow fish who is very proud of his colourful, bright, shiny scales. These are portrayed in metallic fashion and is as eye-catching as a series of scales on a fish can be. The rainbow fish is approached by a blue fish and is asked if he can have a couple of his scales as they are gorgeous and he, too, would look grand. Without even thinking the rainbow fish snottily declines this request, leaving the blue fish feeling unhappy. After several declines, the rainbow fish finds himself without playing partners or friends and approaches the wise octopus for help. The octopus, naturally, asserts that it’s the rainbow fish... Paint The Whole World With A RAINBOW
Review of Rainbow by  zippy003

Advantages: Fantastic Show, Everything about it was Brilliant. Better than all modern day Childrens programmes
Disadvantages: NONE

...RAINBOW is by far the BEST puppet series Ever made. It stars mainly- Zippy, George and Bungle (the 3 puppets of the show), and then the Geoffrey Hayes who looks after them. It also stars Rod, Jane and Freddy who sing on the show some classic songs like "make a monster". Geoffrey, Zippy, George and Bungle all live in the Rainbow house which looks great. Zippy and George are always behind a table because they have no legs and only 1 hand each (yet once they had 2!) Zippy is well nobody ever knew what he was but he was very cheeky and was always getting into trouble. George was a pink hippo who was mainly sensible but funny but once got very angry. Bungle who is a bear (zippy calls him Bungle Bonce) was always very sensible and was always at the butt of Zippy's Jokes. Rainbow was shown on ITV from 1972 until 1992, and was shown to teach...
