Gone.....but not forgotten.
Review of Gone Baby Gone DVD by
paulhanton
Advantages: Great casting, solid film and directing.
Disadvantages: Not many I can name actually.
...I got this DVD out from Blockbuster today as there was nowt on TV and we decided to just chill.
109 minutes, certified 15.
Originally released last year (2007) it never got a showing here, it was delayed as it has some real similarities to the Madeline McCann dissapearance, though that is all I'll say about that as I do not want to spoil the plot.
The film is directed by Ben Affleck, who I have to say after watching this, is a better director than he is actor. It stars one Casey Affleck....do I spy nepotism? It also has Morgan Freeman (just gotta be a plus), Ed Harris, Michelle Monaghan and Amy Ryan.
~~~The plot~~~
Basically a little girl goes missing after her mum allegedly leaves her for 'no more than 30 minutes'. The whole police force is looking for her and then the girls aunt hires the private detectives (Affleck...
ARE YOU A "REAL" WOMAN?
Review of Real by
fantasybeliever
Advantages: Aimed at "Real" women, aimed at "professional" woman, markets to a wide age range
Disadvantages: Busy, fuss, crowded layouts. Too "serious".
...’d much rather they didn’t bother.
I must admit it’s been a little while since I read this; I had thought it went downhill after its initial launch, and I haven’t read anything in this issue to convince me otherwise. In the early days of “REAL”, it did have a slightly alternative feel to it and seemed to cover much more interesting topics. For example, the publication used to handle issues like prostitution and drugs use with sensitivity and a non-judgemental attitude. Those days are gone. As I flicked through this fortnight’s offering, I truly felt that “REAL” had lost its individuality and the unique niche it had filled in the women’s glossies market.
The offerings are staple fodder from a woman’s title. Let’s see. We have articles about fashion and beauty - why it’s “cool to be brunette this year”. I can breathe a sigh...
It's all Gone is a LIE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review of It's All Gone Pete Tong DVD by
Psych
Advantages: Very very very best movie very goodddddddd
Disadvantages: It's a LIE
...This is a perfect movie of a DJ who looses his hearing. Directed by Michael Dowse. The main actor is Paul Kaye as Frankie Wilde.
This is based on a true story, that writes, everyone is thinking that. BUT it's not true. Actually Frankie Wilde never existed. Theres no real story there's no DJ who lost his hearing. Think why is the name It's all gone.... WRONG! The real name had to be it's all gone wrong. All the DJs are included in this big planet lie starting with Pete Tong.
After I saw the movie, I thought also that this is true. Since on youtube I searched the track Frankie Wilde - Rise again, and there I saw the comments how they are fighting he existed or not. I decided to buy some beers and go for it, I was very but VERY interested, and BANG.
Loads of web sites write that Frankie Wilde existed, loads that he didn't. Now how would...
80... 90.... 100... He's Gone
Review of Gone In 60 Seconds DVD by
Andy.mack
Advantages: You don't really have to think much whilst You're watching it, Loads of really nice, fast Cars
Disadvantages: Weak Storyline
...Well I'm moving on again after Con Air and Face Off I decided that the next film on my watching list would have to be Gone In Sixty Seconds. Another film where Nic Cage plays the lead role in another Jerry Bruckheimer blockbuster.
Kip Raines (Giovanni Ribisi) and his gang have taken on a job to steal 50 exotic cars before a certain day. But they take about the task in a gung-ho style and attract a lot of police attention where all the work they had done to date was wasted and all the cars already off the list are seized.
Its up to his older brother Randall "Memphis" Raines (Nicholas Cage), a legendary Car Booster to come out of retirement and save his kid brother from the wrath of Raymond Calitri (Christopher Eccleston). Its up to Memphis to get his old gang back together including Sarah “Sway” Wayland (Angelina Jolie...
After You've Gone
Review of After You've Gone - Series 2 DVD by
crezzie
Advantages: extremely funny and likeable characters
Disadvantages: n/a
...Forget the same old sitcoms that have been on our screens lately. The dragged out ones which should of stopped being made years ago when they were still funny. After You've Gone brings a breath of fresh air to the much needed comedy slot and unlike the others it can actually make you laugh out loud rather than a simpering smile at what you recognise must be a joke.
The somewhat well known actors and actresses are an odd mix. Not exactly people who you'd immediately put together when making a TV programme. None the less it works well and you can more or less guarantee that you'll like each one in their own individual way.
Nicholas Lyndhurst (Only Fools and Horses) plays the role of Jimmy Venible, a painter and decorator, has had to move back into the family home after his former wife extends her stay in Africa, leaving...
BSBs Comeback Album (Though They Were Never Gone)
Review of Never Gone (+DVD) - Backstreet Boys by
IzzyS
Advantages: Some pretty decent, atmospheric tracks
Disadvantages: Not many tracks written or co-written by the guys, not as much vocal harmony
...- Introduction/Background Information -
Never Gone is the Backstreet Boys fifth original studio album, which came out in June 2005, after a turbulent time for all BSB fans'. Its the follow up to 2000s Black and Blue album (which I just reviewed a couple of days ago) and I know quite a few fans weren't sure if they would ever hear another album from the group after what happened in early 2002, with band member Nick deciding to take time out from the group and work on his own solo project and the group suing their record label, Jive, for a sizeable figure. The true outcome of that lawsuit was never really disclosed, its something I still wonder about to this day but never the less, a follow up to Black and Blue did indeed happen and was released some four and a half years after its predecessor.
By the time Never Gone came out, many...
Real Radio , Real Music, Real Entertainment
Review of Real Radio Scotland by
sarah110
Advantages: Fits in with all age groups
Disadvantages: You just can't get enough
...Real Radio Scotland is now into its second year, but it feels as if it has been in our home much longer.
Real Radio Scotland covers the central belt of Scotland on frequency 100 - 101fm. It can also be found on the internet at www.realradiofm.scotland so you never have to miss it!
The weekday mornings are brilliant especially with Robin Galloway and Marie McMacnus (who is also known as Zoe in Zingalong, shown on CBeebies) Apart from many competitions, they also have the real wind up at 8.15am "It's old Mrs Galloway here, I'm 89 year's old dear, can you hear me? I'm sorry dear can you repeat that my hearing aid is playing up, can you hear me..........?" Many a morning my eyes have been streaming from laughter, especially when they pretended to be sky customer services (I work for Sky!). The day couldn't get off to a better...
YOU HAD MY HEART AT GONE BAD
Review of Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded - Rihanna by
nathaninnit
Advantages: New tracks make it the complete project
Disadvantages: Very little difference to the original
...Back in June '07 when I reviewed the brand new album from a shy Barbados born girl, my closing comments were that -- whilst there is very clearly a clever, target-orientated, management team behind 19 year-old Rihanna -- 'Good Girl Gone Bad' signalled the growth from that beautiful butterfly into a woman. Twelve months and a deluxe version later, Rihanna celebrates her sales figures by releasing 'Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded', a re-release of her third studio release. Whilst some may find it depressing that it has now been a year since 'Umbrella' hasn't seen a day off our music channels, others may discover how well a lot of the tracks have stood up over time.
'Good Woman Gone Bad' received a disappointing three star rating when I first gave it the look over, so what could be such a big improvement with the exception of a double...
Is it Real for Real Women?
Review of Real - Magazine by
debbie_marway
Advantages: not too expensive
Disadvantages: needs more competitions, only available fortnightly
...What is it?
It’s a fortnightly magazine aimed at the 30 something female’s in this world.
**
How much?
£1 every two weeks.
**
Easily Available?
Very, always lots of copies around.
**
Is there a subscription?
Yes, it costs £13 for 13 issues. This includes packing and postage. Details from:
01795 414941 - subscription dept
email real@galleon.co.uk
**
Worth the effort?
I would say yes. It’s quite a well-packed magazine (around 110 pages) and has loads of various topics and stories that cover a huge spectrum.
The real life stories are quite thought provoking.
For example in issue 8 there is a story about surrogacy. This is quite a tearjerker, not in that it had a bad ending, quite the opposite infact. Both “mothers” became very good friends at the end of the pregnancies and the surrogate mother visit...
