Try this Sleep Inn
Review of Sleep Inn & Conference Centre Darlington by
yampy-uk
Advantages: The hub for all your sightseeing adventures, a pleasant place to stay, easy accessible.
Disadvantages: None
...In December 2005 we travelled up north from Portsmouth to Darlington to see our family, this being a regular event for us as we love travel, and we stayed for a couple of nights in a hotel. It's called Sleep Inn Hotel & Conference Centre Darlington and can be found at the south end of the A167 at Newton Park approximately 35 metres from junction 59 on the A1(M) either north or south exits will get you there. At the entrance to Newton Park you will find a MacDonald's and a petrol station then it's straight on to the hotel and the automatic barrier that lets you into the car park. The hotel is only two and a half years old and is very well lit with it's very neat, clean and tidy landscaping and the very large free car park had plenty of spare places, in fact it was near enough empty. In front and at the sides of the main entrance...

RED. Adj. "Dubious brown / slightly stained"
Review of Red Carpet Inn, Hershey by
zoe_page
Advantages: Good location, cheap, fairly clean
Disadvantages: Tatty round the edges, no facilities
...To spend a decent length of time travelling in the USA you either need to be loaded or be willing to stay in cheap, potentially grotty little motels on occasion. When I went to Hershey I stayed in one such place, a motel in the Red Carpet Inn chain. Hershey has a mix of posh theme park hotels a la Disney, and cheaper, tattier chains such as Days Inn. They are all pretty much the same price, so I chose the one I did because I’d not encountered the chain before, and thought I’d try my luck.
I arrived around 10pm having been to work that day and Greyhounded in in the evening. Despite the late hour, the reception was manned by a terrible English speaker with a kind smile. She found my reservation quickly, accepted the credit card I offered up, and dished out a room key. The branch I was at was a 2-story affair which edged round the main...

Better Out, Than Inn
Review of Days Inn London Westminster, London by
sghawken
Advantages: Very trying staff
Disadvantages: Awkward location and difficult to navigate building.
...the following "Hello I'm here to attend a meeting held by 3", instead she not once but on four occasions tried to book me into the hotel. As I later discovered there is not one member of staff at The Days Inn that speaks English as a first language.
The reception area was very small in fact the size of an average living room. In this room were a total of 6 different types of vending machine. And internet ready computer which you can use the cost of which was £1 for 5 minutes, an ice machine, and of course the reception desk.
When I was ushered down to the conference facility I was immediately horrified. We were put in a room of around 30 feet in length and a width of 16 feet approximately. If the cramped conditions were not bad enough the roof of the conference room was a glass pyramid. It was the first of four very hot days in London and had...

WORTH STAYING INN - BUT DO EAT OUT
Review of City Inn, Bristol by
LostWitness
Advantages: Modern, comfortable rooms
Disadvantages: Dreadful bar service - no bath
...’re forgetful, they lay on some free toiletries as well. Fixtures and fittings are mainly plain white, but very solid and very clean.
DRINKING AND DINING
This is where City Inn has lost the plot, as far as I’m concerned. City Inn Cafes are as pretentious as they are unpopular, and I noticed that very few of the guests were actually dining downstairs. A cursory examination of the menu gives some clue as to why this might be. The hotel prides itself on its gourmet menu and award-winning chef, but I’m afraid that the menu is not appropriate to the clientele – it’s all rather over the top. Some example main courses:
“Honey roasted spiced mallard, braised red cabbage, lime and ground nut oil.”
“Pan-fried middlewood farm venison, roasted butternut squash, blackberry and game jus.”
Don’t get me wrong – there is absolutely nothing wrong...

The Waterside Inn, Bray
Review of The Waterside Inn, Bray, UK by
a4angus
Advantages: Best food, fantastic service, great venue
Disadvantages: Pricey
...The Waterside Inn, Bray, Berkshire
One of only three 3* Michelin restaurants in the UK, Bray is blessed by having two such illustrious establishments. The Riverside Inn is owned and run by Michel and Alain Roux (father and son). Alain is the Chef Patron.
The Waterside Inn had one star until 1977 when it was awarded the second Michelin star. In 1985 the coveted third star was awarded which it has held ever since (20 years!). There is no other establishment in the UK with such an illustrious record of culinary excellence.
I decided to organise a once in a very-very-long-while treat for my wife and I in 2006 to celebrate, Birthday, Valentine's day and a love of good food and wine. A mini-gourmet holiday.
The trip was to be a competition or sorts (or at least a comparison) - The Waterside Inn...

Come on Inn the hotels lovely...
Review of City Inn, Glasgow by
Shoka
Advantages: Amazing food, friendly and professional staff, lovely rooms
Disadvantages: £20 cab ride away from airport, sound proofing not as good as it could be
...Location
***********
The City Inn, Glasgow is located at Finnieston Quay, Glasgow, G3 8HN. For anyone unfamiliar with Glasgow this is an area that has been redeveloped in recent years, and is home to the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre. The area has the feel of somewhere on the up, with big businesses (like SMG) and developments all over, although its not totally there yet, and I'd compare it to the London Docklands 5-10 years ago before all the shops and businesses had moved in.
I now work quite a bit out of our Glasgow office, and so will be staying in Glasgow on a regular basis. The main body of this review covers the first time I stayed there, during mid January 06, with a slight amendment based on my stay last night (7th February)
When I first was told I had to go to Glasgow I discussed the accommodation options...

Room at the Inn
Review of Premier Travel Inn London - Tower Bridge, London by
hiker
Advantages: Sensible price, useful location, no pretentions
Disadvantages: no frills (but then it doesn't pretend to have any)
...Let's be up-front about this: there is very little "inn" about a Premier Travelinn. I'm prepared to warrant that not a single one of them lurks near a village green, nestles under a thatched roof, has beamed ceilings or an open fire. They do not abound in those quaint niceties conjured by the word inn. In fact, many of them don't even count as an inn in the literal sense - since they do not themselves provide food, but rely on a reciprocal arrangement with an adjacent hostelry.
Is this a criticism? Not in the slightest.
I would not choose a Travelinn for a romantic holiday or an indulgent weekend…but for a city-break or a business trip when I need nothing more than security, comfort and convenience I use Travelinn most of the time. Their "Tower Bridge" branch is fast becoming a regular haunt.
LOCATION:
None of what...

IT'S BEEN A HARD DAYS NIGHT AT THE INN
Review of Days Inn Birmingham East, Birmingham by
belinda9
Advantages: Immaculately Clean, nicxe price, friendly staff, great location
Disadvantages: None, I can think of.
...in The Mailbox shopping centre. As we pulled up we noticed it was all lit up bright red, we had seen this building in December and always wondered what it was. We had to park our car in the multi storey car park which is located in the shopping complex. You then have to go up in a lift to the Days Inn, but it wasn't as easy as that. When the lift doors opened we looked as though we were in a normal multi storey car park, then went through a door and what a shock we had. There were posh shops galore, posh cocktail bars, further down was another apartment type hotel, well at least that's what we thought it was. We couldn't find the Days Inn at first as we had turned left at the door, but when we asked the security guards, they said it was right and overlooking the canal. As we approached the hotel, we noticed there were bars underneath it, I...

Inn the Land of Lost Content
Review of The Sun Inn, Norbury, Shropshire by
hiker
Advantages: Location, service, food
Disadvantages: -
...We found ourselves in "a secret corner of Shropshire where time has stood still for centuries…" and stayed for three nights at The Sun Inn in the small scattered village of Norbury.
Choosing to eat in the restaurant each evening, between us we sampled a fair proportion of the menu.
All of it was good, some of it was better.
But before we get to the food, let's taste the atmosphere. The Sun is an ancient and well-nurtured inn. Rumour has it that it predates the 12th century church opposite, and nothing about the building would gainsay that assertion. It would seem a sacrilege to call it a public house now that the expression 'pub' has been so much debased, but a public house it is in the best possible way. You enter from the car park at the rear of the premises, having crossed the small patio garden of haphazard benches...

Leavin' the Holiday Inn Leuven
Review of Holiday Inn Leuven, Leuven by
proxam
Advantages: Central location
Disadvantages: How long have you got?
...Where to spend the last couple of days of our holiday in Germany?
Easy - Leuven.
Yes, I know it's in Belgium. But we were traveling home via Brussels, so it's not as strange a choice as at first seems. No, really.
We booked the HOLIDAY INN GARDEN COURT for our last couple of days - handy for the airport, and, let's face it, it would be nice to get my hands on some Belgian beer after enduring all that German stuff! *
The hotel should be easy to find. After all, it's only a matter of turning down Tiensestraat from the inner ring road and there it is - 100-150m from the Grote Markt. What they didn't tell us though was that Tiensestraat is a one-way street, and part of it was closed due to roadworks, and another part was closed due to a fun-fair, and to access the hotel meant driving all the way around the ring road...
