...I have used DVD Street since they first started and obtain the vast majority of my Region 2 stuff through them. Delivery is fast and free and they are one of the cheapest UK suppliers on the net. Used with the right affiliate link and credit card rebate, you can get further discounts. They also do a loyalty and referal scheme. Is there no end to their generosity! What would be really cool if they could offer Region 1 on a "personal importation" basis at cool prices. Maybe I'll suggest it to them.... Read review

Now, this has changed, a lot with dvdboxoffice.com, a region 1 online dvd retailer(region 1 can be played only with a multi-region, ie region-free dvd-rom/player in UK) The UK dvd player is for region 2 dvds only. First of all, the price, is damn cheap! Even when you compare it with play247.com and other reputable sites that sells region 1 dvds, it still tops them all. Secondly, the delivery will cost zilch, not even a penny, in simple words FREE! You'll get the cheap price, with free delivery and still received the best DVD titles. Advantages: Great sound and picture
Disadvantages: few disks stop on layer change and have to move the time on to get it going again.

...I think this is a great player, I have been using it for 8 months with very little problems. I do have some disks that do stop on the layer change but its only a few and a very minor inconviniance for such a great picture, which has only broken up once or twice. The play is region free (well mine is anyway, but that maybe becuase it was won on a net comp). Playback on VCD looks OK as well. So free, great sound and picture, region free and looks nice and slick.... Read review

...will switch over automaticly when you play a region 1 or region 2.This code will work on the proline dvd1000 and wharfedale 750 and a few other brands,the proline is a rebadged player.This code will not damage your machine and will not lock on to one region it will work fine.The only problem i have found with the proline dvd1000 is the aspect ratio on the menu screen which seems to have a bug if you select 16:9 you get 4:3 full screen ,this is no big deal,also the new proline which has a yellow sticker on the box was supose to be bug free ,but it does now play the Matrix fine.... ...The Pioneer DVD-113 is the tray loading cousin of the slot version A03S. Both of these drives are third generation 6x DVD read drives and are quite capable of displaying movies without any obvious artifacts. Combined with a dedicated hardware decoder, such as Creative's Dxr3, this drive can be an excellent substitute for a dedicated DVD player. The firmware in the drive is RPC1, which means that the drive itself does not fully dictate the region of disc that can be played and hence can be over-rided in software/hardware to play discs from any region. Play247.com, came up a few times so i decided to check them out. My first impression was WOW!! This company has one of the biggest if not THE biggest choice of DVD's in stock. They cover Region 2 and also Region 1 DVD's. So if like me, you have a multi-regional player you are in luck. The prices of the dvd's are very competitive, and some of the stock for region 1 dvd's are not even out here to rent on video yet! ...I tried Play247 after a friend told me that you can buy Region One titles in pounds and that they turned up very quickly. I checked out the site and he was right. They also stock Region Two titles at very cheap prices. Titles at £19.99 RRP are £14.99, £15.99 titles are as cheap as £9.99. Delivery is free (by Royal Mail recorded delivery) which actually makes this site better than buying from the high street or any other retailer. As for Region One titles, it might be cheaper to buy them from the US in dollars in some cases, but for Limited Edition titles and Criterion DVDs they are very nicely priced and everything else is similarly priced to their Region Two titles.
