An all round star
Review of Melanie C - Melanie C by
Squidget
Advantages: She has a music style to cater for all tastes
Disadvantages: She gets slagged to much her private life should stay private
...and collaborated with the sensational Bryan Adams on the massive UK hit "When Your Gone" a number four hit in this country and a massive hit in many others, this was a classic pop / rock song and the pair worked together very well with Bryan's sultry sexy rock voice and guitar and Mel's sensational husky pop / rock diva voice that had made Spice Girls what they are.
So now with her feet firmly on the ground in solo land, Mel ventured of on her own into the studios and it was not long before the first efforts were revealed...
Mel C's first solo single "Going Down" was pure rock and not a hint of Spice about it, revealing an all new slim line rock chic image with a video similar to that of something from the Nirvana camp, the single was a hit but this time was believed to be due to her Spice success, I must admit it is not one of my favourites...

Pimp Of The Nation Scores Again
Review of History Of Rock, The [PA] - Kid Rock by
thecrow2k
Advantages: Awsome Album
Disadvantages: How about...........none!
...'s soooooo enetertaining and there is some humour mixed in with this amazing brew, the worst song is the Intro which isn't a song anyway and the best song is all of the rest because it's hard to pick.
When Top Dog record signed this guy, they probably had more doubts him than there was doubts that George W Bush won the election, but with the fantstic Devil Without A Cause and the new awsome History Of Rock under his belt, I think the only doubts now are if a new album could be on the way, there might be a final compilation or a new one then a final compilation, but wether it happens or not, kid rock is da man and there is nothing the the world can do about it!...

Review of Nevermind - Nirvana (US) by
veryhairymonkey
Advantages: best american album of all time
Disadvantages: a bit disturbing
...Poison, Warrant, and Cinderella; and the coporate/over-the-top styles of rap artists like M.C. Hammer and Vanilla Ice. When Nirvana hit the charts with "Nevermind" and the first single "Smells Like Teen Spirit", it destroyed many of those artists and they would never be heard of again (Thank God).
"Nevermind" is a true rock classic for the 1990s. Nirvana led by singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain along with bassist Krist Novoselic and drummer Dave Grohl helped combine punk rock sound with pop hooks as heavy metal god Ozzy Osbourne described as "Heavy metal meets the Beatles. Produced by Butch Vig, "Nevermind" is an excellent rock record that helped define the 1990s.
The album starts off with the classic anthem "Smells Like Teen Spirit" that featured that famous opening guitar riff from Kurt Cobain with cool bass hooks from Krist Novoselic...

Inside the steerpyke music hall of fame
Review of A-Z for Members Challenges by

...the Darkness I will have to reach for the disembowelling spoon.
U is for…Undertones
Teenage Kicks…no more said.
V is for…Suzanne Vega
From a flurry of female balladeers that surfaced at the time, Vega, for my money was the cream of the crop. A range of stories from social issues to fairy tales delivered with a crystal clear voice and a light guitar style puts her alongside the likes of Carole King.
W is for… The Waterboys
Moving from epic stadium rock to raggle taggle folk and stopping at all points in between, Mike Scott wrote some of the most evocative songs of the eighties and nineties. Whether cranking up the guitar and rocking out or encompassing himself in the swirling sounds and musical washes that only he could create, the spiritual quality of his music was ever present, his creations tapped into the soul.
X is for...X.T.C.
My adopted...

Mel C
Review of Melanie C - Melanie C by
smile
Advantages: good live performer, new style suits her
Disadvantages: is it genuine?
...I think that Mel C is a brilliant solo artist. She has shown her true talent which was often lost when she was a member of the Spice Girls. It was often said that none of them could sing, but she has been the most successful soloist out of all of them. She has changed her image from a pop chick to a rock chick, and in doing so changed her audience. She can perform live excellently, I have seen her twice, and she fits in very well with her new image. I am wondering who else thinks she is much better as a solo artist, and also whether this was always her style, and she hid it, or if she has brought it out as a publicity stunt in order to sell more records (I sincerly hop it isn't)...

kelly rocks!
Review of Breakaway - Kelly Clarkson by
mylittlepony84
Advantages: a brilliant cd
Disadvantages: none
...This girl is amazing, her album breakaway is stunning! She has a great voice and bags of talent.Winner of american pop idol, this is kellys second album and is so much better than her first. It has all her singles like,"since you've been gone", "behind these hazel eyes"(my personal fav) also "because of you" and her most recent singles "walkaway" and "breakaway" she has turned from pop princess to rock chick.
If you like pop songs with a rock edge to them then this is the cd for you. Out of all 14 songs i can honestly say there is no song on here that i did'nt like. She is so original, and has her own unique style.
There is a good mix of upbeat rock songs and a few rock ballards. A great cd if you are having the girls round for a drink! I also stick this cd on when im doing my housework because its full of songs that you can sing along to...

The best ever
Review of New Jersey [Remastered] [ECD] - Bon Jovi by
warren502
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...This is definately, without doubt, the best Bon Jovi Album ever produced. There is hardly a weak song on the disc, and there are enough songs to keep you rocking all night long. Just look at the set-list.
There are classics like Lay your Hands on Me, Bad Medicine, Born to be my Baby, Living in Sin, Wild is the Wind, Ride Cowboy....
The list is endless and this is a great sing along album. It combines contemporary rock with the smooth eighties sound that only the great bands can produce.
This was released in the late eightes and follows the amazing success of Slippery when Wet, and the less successful 7800C farenheit. This album shaped the band for the next decade and made them when of the smoothest bands in rock today...

A great introduction to Queen
Review of Greatest Hits Vol.1 - Queen by
Simoncook1
Advantages: A great cross section of early Queen
Disadvantages: A few week songs
...are really hard to classify. A mixture of soft and hard rock, mixed in with a little ballad and love song, and some good old fashioned rock & roll! There's even a bit of Pop thrown in!
This album really has something for everyone, songs to inspire, to laugh at, to cry along to, to relax to or to pump you up! It is a very good cross section of the early years of Queen and is a must for all music fans!
The only thing missing is Bohemian Rhapsody, perhaps their most famous song of all! This classic Rock / Ballad / Operatic song would have finished off this collection nicely (I note that Bohemian Rhapsody does appear on Greatest Hits 2, but I feel it should have been on the first one!)
Here is a brief comment on some of my favourite song on the album:
Rock You >
Perhaps one of the most recognisable rock anthems of all time. This song...

Bass thumping Pioneer sub woofer
Review of Pioneer TS-W 306 C by
eddierog
Advantages: Great sounding, deep rich bass.
Disadvantages: Needs time to set up correctly.
...This is part of Pioneer's accelerate range which has been around for
some years now. The TS-W 306C is a 12" sub woofer designed to
be fitted to a sub box which is sold separately.
Fitting
The sub woofer comes with a pack of screws and double sided foam
which is secured to the back of the speaker and then mounted onto
the box, so as to give a perfect seal when screwed to the box.
This is then mounted in the boot of your car. The only connection that
you need to make is the speaker wires which is attached to the side of the box. I recommend using a good quality OFC (oxygen free cable)
This cable is then connected to the speaker terminals on your amp.
Performance
This will vary greatly depending which amp you will use to drive this
speaker. As a rule i would suggest you use a good quality amp
rated 200 watts and above. However i am only...
